Freshman Convocation Going in to tonight I did not know what to expect. I had already read Mr. Khayat’s book, so I was familiar with his accomplishments. One thing that is underappreciated at the University is the way the culture has evolved from what it used to be. Maybe it is from the lack of knowledge today’s student’s have. From being a primarily white college, to having a very diverse class of students, the University of Mississippi has for sure overcome more mediocrity than any university in the country. If anyone who was unfamiliar with the school’s past, Robert Khayat surly opened their eyes tonight. The one thing that really stood out to me was how Mr. Khayat did so poorly in his Chemistry class that allot of students would

When I was younger I had a babysitter who was in high school. I looked up to her so much and wanted to be a big girl like her and go to high school. Little did I know that when I got that old I would want to be that little girl again. With senior year beginning I’ve been getting hounded with college emails and universities calling to invite me to visit. Having to make the decision of where I want to go to college, what I want to study, and how I’m gonna make all that happen while still being in high school and getting treated like a child is a bit overwhelming. I never realized how overwhelming and stressful senior year would be.
As a high school senior, I spent all year searching for a compatible college that fits my requirements. I wanted a college that is affordable, so when I graduate I am not stuck with a massive debt. I wanted a campus that is has friendly people and feels like home. Finally, the college must provide me with the right skills to start my career. With those three standards in mind, I narrowed my choices to one perfect college.
A is for awesome as it perfectly sums up my middle school years. While there were some bumps along the road, I've finally made it to the end of this exciting(2) 8th grade year. Throughout my years at Sierramont Middle School, I've experienced and learned so many valuable skills that I'll always remember. I've met people that changed my life, teachers that inspired and taught me, and experienced the joys of middle school. While there were some people that annoyed me to the point I wanted to explode(10), there were more people who left a positive mark in my life. The teachers I've had have done so much for me and all I can hope for is for all teachers to be recognized more. Teachers are the building blocks(8) to a person's life, yet they are
As a young boy, I never truly put much into school. I put as little thought about college as well, but it took one moment that made me want the desire to succeed in my life and make something of it. Working for 12 straight hours in the middle of the hot sun, making minimum wage wasn't how I wanted to live. Going to multiple jobs and having to work all weekend, even during school occasionally was extremely difficult. This just gave me that extra drive to be more superior than anyone else. Yet, I never gave up and still pushed to be the best student I could be. Staying up late nights just to finish homework so I was able to make the best grade in class. The simplest moments in life made we want to be the best

To many high school students, college seems like a far away land, a mysterious place where everyone wants to be yet not many know how to get there. As children, our parents tell us how much time we have to think about college, and that it is too far down the line to think about. The truth is it is never too early to think about your future. I, like many people, put little thought into my future career and now am lost in an unfortunate mix of indecision and anxiety. Not knowing where you want to be in the future is a hard burden to bear. Many of us tend to find out that we only know what we do not want, not what we actually do want. Do we want to be poor? Absolutely not. Do we want a boring job? Of course we don’t. We all want our

Frigaliment Importing Co. V. B.N.S International Sales Textbook P. 117 Facts Frigaliment Importing and B.N.S Corporation came into agreement that B.N.S will provide chickens for sale to Frigaliment. The contract contained two separate shipments in which each shipment contained different weighted chicken. Frigaliment received the first shipment and noticed that the heavier chickens were older chicken that were meant for stewing not frying. Frigaliment immediately sto24pped the second shipment and sued that they did not provide the right type of chicken in which they were asking for young chickens. B.N.S (the defendant) states that chicken can mean anything as long as they are in the same
Being nominated for Michigan Junior Honor Society is a big deal and accomplishment for me. I really value education and I feel that this will really help me with my education and in being a better person. As my teachers did, I believe I would be a good student for MJHS. I do all sorts of activities in and out of school and in the past I’ve done many things to give back to the community.
Fresh from Truman, just starting out, I must admit I was at a loss on what to do with my Biology studies. Furthermore, in this economy I had doubts as to whether I could obtain a job lucrative enough to support myself with the degree once I received it. This is why, heartbroken and disappointed as I was to have learned that I had not received my degree, I consciously put it off for a while until I figured out exactly what I wanted to do. It turned out that what I learned majoring in Biology not only gave me the tools to save my own life but helped me to do what I believe I was put on this earth to do.
Yes. At my high school, I’ve participated in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) course as well as been a part of the CyberPatriot and Academic Bowl teams offered by the organization. Unfortunately, I could only spend two years of my high school career in that organization due to the lack of schedule space. I’ve also been a part of the International and National Honor Society clubs. The International Club was a club of students that helped to promote and express the different cultures at my school. As for the National Honor Society, we’ve helped the community by completing service projects, such as the Ronald McDonald House t-shirt sale and the Relay for Life event. In terms of school teams, I was a member of the Scholastic Competition
Similar to the community colleges in California, Hope College in Holland, MI faced many changes in the face of defense training programs. Enrollment at Hope college began to deteriorate in the beginning of 1942 as many men entered the Armed Forces. By April of 1943 students began noticing the absence of many as 25 men were called to active duty under the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps. In the 1943-44 school year, enrollment totaled 250 students, with 200 of these students being women. In October of that school year, 250 ASTP men became a part of the Hope College community. The population on campus had gone through a rollercoaster effect.
At Saint Mary’s College, the Collegiate Seminar program is a uniquely designed program for students to “serve the College’s goals for a liberal education [as it] strives to put students in possession of their powers to think clearly, critically, and collaboratively, and articulate their ideas effectively—powers that will serve them for the rest of their lives.” (SMC Seminar 104 Course Reader) As a requirement for graduation, all students regardless of what discipline they are in must complete four courses of seminar. A quite interesting kind of class as it integrates students from different kinds of discipline, thus, attracting different kinds of perspectives, creating stimulating conversations about varying topics. Unlike traditional teacher-centered teaching, the Seminar program invites students to interrogate texts and examine questions that are raised by both the text and the students through stimulating discussions. Additionally, these discussions are meant to create an environment “in which the student and the seminar leader engage together in the pursuit of understanding.” (stmarys-ca.edu/collegiate-seminar/seminars)
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life.
