Climate change is a major global issue. Canada is the ninth largest emitter of greenhouse gas that needs to enact on a climate policy [1] (Mildenberger et al. 2016).Greenhouse gas slows down and prevents heat loss in space which increases the temperature of the Earth’s surface leading to global warming. Activities of energy industries, transportation, residential and commercial activities, manufacturing, construction, industrial processes, and agriculture emit greenhouse gases. Human activities emit Carbon dioxide (CO2) that is responsible for an increase of 85% in global warming (Ayşegül Toptal, Bilgesu Çetinkaya 2017). Loss of sea ice, thawing permafrost, and coastal erosion are already increasing in speed [7-9 Mildenberger et al. 2016], …show more content…
The "trade" refers to a market where companies can buy or sell “allowances,” or pay others to reduce emissions on their behalf, in order to comply with the cap in the lowest cost and most efficient way. The government sets an industry-wide limit to carbon production. Corporations that produce more than the set carbon limit are able to buy allowances from corporations who produce below the allowed amount. By doing this , it creates a market for carbon so that companies can actually make money by reducing their carbon output. As time progresses, the government will incrementally lower the cap, which will reduce the number of allowances issued and increase their price. Ontario's Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016 (the "Climate Act"), creates a cap-and-trade system that covers 82 percent of Ontario's direct emissions. This system includes all fossil fuels (e.g., gasoline, diesel and natural gas) used in Ontario by individuals, governments and businesses, and some other important Greenhouse Gases. The first four-year compliance period began on January 1, 2017, and continues until 2020. The cap-and-trade system alone is predicted to provide only 2.8 Mt of the 18.5 Greenhouse gas reductions needed to meet Ontario's 2020 Greenhouse gas target. The government declared that the next 9.8 Mt of reductions will come from its Climate Change Action Plan, to be funded by the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Account, i.e., from selling cap-and-trade
Everyone talks about climate change and how the Earth is slowly deteriorating, but no one seems to have specific examples. In Linnea Saukko’s “How to Poison the Earth,” she does use specific examples of what is causing climate change. She uses satire with a hint of sarcasm in her essay. She gives the reader specific examples of how to poison the Earth, but not really wanting to poison the Earth. Gretel Ehrlich writes her essay, “Chronicles of Ice,” a little differently. She uses personal experiences of visiting a glacier and the way that it is falling apart to explain climate change. She uses detailed, sensory description to explain
Canada is also known for dropping out of the Kyoto Protocol, which included 139 parties. Canada then switched to the Copenhagen Agreement. This agreement wants Canada to cut 17% of its emissions {Meyer,2009}. 4% of emissions have been saved since signing back in 2009. This plan will not work because Canada only reduced 4% of its GHG’s in four years, there is no detailed plan to fix the average 1% decrease by 2020 or the future {Wingrove, J 2015}. Another strategy created by the government is the carbon pricing mechanism. Alberta teamed up with the Climate Control and Emissions Management Act (CCEMA) and placed a tax for carbon emissions on all Canadian Oil companies {CSA Group, 2015}. The tax is $15 per tonne and the CCEMA expects and wants a 12% decrease of oil sands GHG’s each year {CSA Group, 2015}. Canada is an oil producing company and a change like this would need time but we can switch over to less GHG emitting mechanisms {Mansbridge, P 2015}. The CCEMA plan will not be very effective because Canada has done so little to follow its rules and be effective in the past, and now we are even deeper I trouble. If the oil sands didn’t pay much attention to rules of GHG’s before, who says they are going to change now?
NGS integrates greenhouse into other major policy initiatives, such as the Natural Heritage Trust, and launches new measures to increase greenhouse emission reduction activities across the Australian community. It provides the strategic framework for an effective greenhouse response and for meeting current and future international commitments. It will provide a fresh impetus for action by governments, stakeholder groups and the broader community and set directions for that action into the next century.
Global Warming is an increase in the average temperature around the world. Scientists have been able to trace the global climate and concluded that over the last ten thousand years, the climate of the earth has been relatively constant. In the twentieth century, the global temperature increased 0.740°C. The change in the warming, and cooling, of average global temperatures cause climate change, a change related to climate patterns such as temperatures, rainfall, wind and humidity. This flux in temperature is affected by multiple factors making it hard to determine the true source of problem. Evidence supports that the earth's warming is natural; however, some data indicates that the warming trend has increased due to human activity.
Purpose of this research is to discuss the problem of climate change and highlight the importance of sustainable development of resources to reduce or eliminate global warming. This paper also introduces the Paris Agreement to its readers and the research is questioned by asking: What if countries don’t sign Paris Agreement? The information used in this research paper is obtained from the official United Nations website which is the primary source of information for this paper as well as the secondary sources like Reuters and NASA along with scholarly sources like ProQuest. This paper refers to previous studies and discusses the effects of climate change and global warming domestically as well as globally on a country. In this research, the significance of the Paris Agreement as a driving force in reducing activities responsible for climate change and lowering percentage of global warming will be highlighted. Referring to the analytical and statistical information provided by NASA, the paper is designed to persuade the readers that the information is credible and accurate.
The Earth has always been undergoing climate change. Extreme weather, natural disasters, and global warming are a few examples of current climate changes. To help prevent this, the Climate Change Education act was introduced by Ed Markey, a democrat from Massachusetts. The main goal of this act was to educate the citizens about the causes of climate change, solutions to it, and small adjustments in their own lives to help prevent it. While there are people who totally support this, there are others who do not. The Climate Change Education act can be seen as helpful because it can protect the Earth and its inhabitants, yet it can be unnecessary because it will not contribute to our society.
"But Jc we can make this work. We. We were meant to be, I mean thats everyone says.
What happens when too much carbon dioxide gets omitted into the Earth’s atmosphere? The condition known as Global Warming occurs. Global Warming is the rising of the Earth’s surface temperature due to chemicals in the atmosphere. Global Warming has many threats on the climate and even the health of the people on this planet. Some of these threats include the altering of crop seasons and even effect the way organisms survive on the planet. The first thing I think I should discuss when talking about global warming is what causes it to occur.
Since the Industrial Revolution, factories have been polluting the air and unknowingly contributing to the process known today as global warming. Even to this day, people proceed to do detrimental things to the environment. Global warming is one of the gravest issues the world faces nowadays. With all the other concerns society has to face, it is essential that people act out now and do what is necessary to establish a brighter future. By using appropriate procedures to conserve energy and save natural resources, people can counteract the process of global warming and its disastrous effects.
We should all be very concerned about our future on Earth as human beings. We may not be at such an immediate risk of burning to death, but our future descendants are. Every year, the overall temperature has gone up slowly. Eventually Earth will be too hot to live on, and the human race will become extinct! The best way to save our future is to start now. Americans should be conscientious of global warming and should watch their CO2 emissions because increasing CO2 concentrations means an increase in Earth’s temperature.

Global warming is the rising of average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere due to greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect consists of gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and water vapor insulating the Earth’s surface and helping it maintain warm temperatures. However since there is so much carbon dioxide filling the air the Earth atmosphere absorbs almost all of the suns emission. When the sun heats the earth the atmosphere is supposed to radiate most of the heat but instead it takes all the warmth and uses it to power the Earth causing a buildup of green house gases. This has been taught to everyone, but is it true or a hoax? Some scientists argue that

In the February 1st edition of the New York Times, journalist Andrew C. Revkin discusses the rising threat of global warming, and more importantly, the disagreement between various nations and institutions upon the definition of “dangerously high global warming.” Revkin’s article, titled “Deciding How Much Global Warming Is Too Much,” brings to light the various failed attempts at creating a barrier at which industrialized countries (the main producers of the greenhouse gasses which result in global warming) will cut the release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere. Revkin also discusses how upcoming events, conferences; reports will hopefully solve this problem.
Global Warming is an important ecological issue and has many negative effects upon our environment. Global Warming, or what has been called the Greenhouse effect, is the result of a fourfold ecological process. 1-Sunlight radiates from the sun, through space, to Earth’s atmosphere. 2- The sunlight enters the atmosphere and hits Earth. Some of it turns into heat energy in the form of infrared light. The heat gets absorbed by surrounding air and land, which in turn makes it warm. 3- Infrared rays, that are remitted into the atmosphere are trapped by greenhouse gases. 4- The gas then absorbs the light and is remitted back to the Earth’s surface and warms it even more. Left on it's own this natural process keeps our
