1. Describe two situations where working in groups would be A). Appropriate situations for group work Example Explanation Situation 1 Students formed groups - students form their own groups, select members from their classmates. This is often the way students like. If they know that others in the classroom, they tend to choose their "friends." If they've been together before taking the class, they chose someone else, they have succeeded and cooperation, and to avoid those that are not as motivated, because they think he is. When students report higher levels of satisfaction with the experience of the group, they choose their members. However, this may not be to the formation of the group, it is the best way …show more content…
Conflict becomes a problem only when the comments become personal, individual, or an individual or group discussion on the purpose of taking up too much time in the group, causing damage. Strong leadership and cohesion of the group will be active for the group divided its people. The following example describes how to prevent differences lead to more serious problems may be destructive group. Situation 2 Not to participate or withdraw- Everyone has the right not to participate in the group, although it is usually best to contribute to all members. Some members would like to observe, but not participate in oral and others may want to contribute and feel too shy, afraid of self-disclosure, or lack of confidence. To overcome the lack of confidence, members hope to help but afraid to do so, they need not participate in an encouraging, positive attitude, but they should not feel embarrassed or forced to participate. Who is withdrawn it may just take longer and some team members warm group situation and development. Over time, the team members who are initially very outgoing can listen more talk less, while those who said initially that you can start to say, this will lead to a more balanced …show more content…
How much have you justify your opinion and its application, it would not agree, if the team do not agree with it at rest. Your every action requires approval, so the majority. This becomes a little time-consuming and confusing. Another problem is that in a group work and will lead to "runs", which could add negative and hinder the quality of work in the workplace. Difficult to evaluate In all of these advantages and disadvantages of other groups working important to mention is the amount of time for all members of the group assessments. If the output is because it is the requirement that managers tend to leave it, do not consider the details. Either as a person to do a lot of work or less true, silently. However, at this time, they do not realize that some employees hardly put any effort and some of the greatest work has been done. A group of work, many escape routes. Of personal productivity. Therefore, it becomes very difficult. Credit unequal

The manner in which you as a group choose to present your case study is up to groups consensus. What is important is that your address each of the criteria listed on the Criteria Reference Assessment sheet.
PART D: Group Work Protocols 1. Group formation and management - When deciding on how to organise groups the composition is often made with classroom management, student ability or classroom space in mind (Baines et al., 2008). However, it is important to plan where students are going to sit, who is going to be in each group, and what role or responsibility each student will have in the group. For example, a teacher could delegate responsibility to specific students from each group give out the paper, distribute equipment or collect the work at the end for the session.
Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although we were supposed to get together to practice
After reading Ch. 1 and 2 of Working in Groups, answer the following questions in 150 to 200 words each.
The initial group sessions will emphasize on creating cohesion among the group members. Group norms and expectations of the group will be discussed. Icebreaking activities, such as deep introductions, deep breathing exercises, and getting to know one another activities will be used to, create trust and create cohesion and comfort among group members. The facilitator will display participation and model behavior to group members. These behaviors will include actively listening, respecting everyone in the group, demonstrating empathy, genuineness, relevant self-disclosure, and suggesting or listening to feedback when beneficial to self or members. The facilitator will also assist members to outline personal goals they may wish to achieve during
One of our goals was to include our group members throughout the meeting. We wanted them to feel empowered by given them opportunities to share their own unique ideas and experiences during the duration of the gathering. At the beginning we also established rules of confidentiality, respect, and sharing. We wanted to encourage comfort in our group setting, that way members would feel encouraged to share their own particular experiences. My partner and I made the decision to incorporate those rules to effectively serve our participants. Our participants also confirmed our rules by not adding anything else when prompted and physically nodding yes. One thing that our participants were able to own about our group was the amount of information discussed and providing a respectful, positive, and encouraging
Everyone remembers the times in middle school when their teachers would force them to work in groups of people they may or may not have liked. They would cause fights among the students in the groups, bring grades down, and take more time and effort. All reasons I do not agree with group work, and am against it.
Working in a group setting can cause strain on some individuals, but it also can be helpful to the same individual. Group projects are a major component to both negative and positive effects. There are then easy and hard components of working in a group setting, that can range from person to person. The easiest part of working in a group project was commitment, trust, and motivation. In our group everyone was committed toward getting a great grade and wanting to work for that. Group projects usually tend to have people rely on others to do the work. For this project, for example, I believe my group did not have that issue. We all worked together, splitting parts up for the presentation, including the PowerPoint, annotated bibliography, and
In response to you post you mentioned you observed silence in the group with some of the group members. In this type of group interaction, I feel the challenges of getting a group to speak and participate would be difficult especially when working with group members that posess difficult and resistant behavior. Getting the group to open up more in spite of their feelings and emotions of being vulnerable, scared, and anxious are some of a few reasons for group silence. When a group of members become silent, lack of participation, is often followed (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2010). Although, group members may use their emotions, to justify their behavior, overall silence and lack of participation it can
As we spoke in group time we developed implicit rules. For example, do not speak when another group member is speaking. Everyone has a chance to share their ideas and should share if they like or dislike an idea they feel that might or might not work. I think we all had good manners inculcated in our childhood so we did not have problems with that. Plus we did not mind words of frustration as it was not direct to any of us.
For the purposes of this group, I would hope to create a sense of community by having the same members participate in the group each week. This will be a closed group. I feel that students will be almost completely comfortable with each other and by the end of the group and that friendships will have been established. If students were to come and go from the group each week, I feel that this would hinder progress in establishing these connections.
When running groups many things can go wrong but many things can go good as well. The success factor in a group doesn’t just depend on the people in your group or the mentee it also depends on the mentor. If the mentor isn't very into the topic the mentee’s wont be into it either. Why would you be excited to learn about something if the person who is teaching you is acting like it is so dumb. The most important thing I learned about running a good group is to alway be in or pretend to be into the topic no matter how much
Your teammates have been formed for one week. Every time there is a staff meeting, one of your team members does not say much. The country staff start to defer to the more outspoken group members.
My feelings about the group process was a little mix at first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don’t overthink everything.
One of the best ways to avoid any member feeling excluded or not part of the group is to make sure all members are listened to, respected, and seen as an important part of the total group dynamic.
