My health and social care setting is an under 5’s nursery, within my setting there may be many incidents or emergencies. There could be incidents within my setting such as bumping their heads, falling over, tripping over toys. An emergency within my setting could be things such as fires or severe injuries such as being knocked unconscious. In this assignment I will cover two incidents or emergencies, the ones I will be covering are actual and suspected abuse and exposure to infection. In my setting, exposure to infection is high, children are always picking up bugs, colds and much more. they also sometimes have accidents, this means the staff are exposed to bodily fluids. You should always protect yourself and those around you from …show more content…

Health and safety is important in any industry because this assures the safety of the employer and employee under the work act of 1974(HASAW).It also makes sure that the employee understands the risks on the site, and the responsibility that will have to be taken. Working on a fishery or any field to do with fish management could become hazardous if precautions are not in place.
Own health or hygiene might pose a risk to individuals or others at work by causing infections, causing illness or causing fatalities, this can be prevented by washing hands thoroughly before preparing food and after going to the toilet, covering mouth/ turning away when coughing, applying/ replacing old plasters, disposing of used tissues, taking sick leave if ill etc.
Being in a health and social care setting means that there are many opportunities to be exposed to infection. For example MRA (Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) and hazardous
1.2 Explain how health and safety is monitored and maintained and how people in the work setting are made aware of risks and hazards and encouraged to work safely.

It is vital for children to be kept safe in the early years setting, it is possible for them for to be at risk for example if there was not enough staff in their setting, if the staff were not police checked or the environment / equipment is not safe.
Protecting the patient from illness and infection can by control if the staff knows the infections control procedures (wearing glows, protective clothing, washing the hands before and after a contact with a patient.
The prevention of child and staff illness policy is to prevent the further spread of illness and infectious diseases to other children and staff members (Little Sparrows Educare, 2014). If a staff member or child becomes ill, the centre will follow the Ministry of Health exclusion guidelines. The idicators for sending a child home sick include following: temperature over
This assignment will look at incidents and emergencies that can happen in a health and social care setting. Within my assignment I will be explaining possible priorities and responses when dealing with two incidents or emergencies in a health and social care setting. I will be discussing health, safety or security concerns that may arise from the incident or emergency. Then I will be discussing how I would respond to them.
The health and Safety at work act is the law of health and safety during work times at work. This is normally to do with dangerous equipment and all types of equipment the health and safety law act. This act is to ensure the safety of workers and this is so they do not get injured during work because of the businesses equipment or due to the businesses work that they are making the workers do also the health and safety act is also for the customers, suppliers and anyone who goes to the business site. To take action with the law the businesses do training and they carry out some assessments to see if the worker knows what to do in the situation where there is a slippery floor and there is no sign the worker should know and they should put the
This can be dangerous, as it can result in anger and harmful thoughts, as well as a laissez-faire attitude toward the child
The Healthy And Safety Work act is a law that states that at every work place has to have regular checks in their workplace to see if everything is safe to work with especially in an engineering workplace. There needs to be regular risk assessments and maintenance checks on machines. If these checks were not in place employees can get really badly injured which is dangerous and makes it all the more reason to have it in place.
Child abuse and maltreatment is not limited to a particular age and can occur in the infant, toddler, preschool, and school-age years. Choose one of the four age groups (infant, toddler, preschool, or school age) and discuss the types of abuse that are most often seen in this age. Discuss warning signs and physical and emotional assessment findings the nurse may see that could indicate child abuse. Discuss cultural variations of health practices that can be misidentified as child abuse. Describe the reporting mechanism in your state and nurse responsibilities related to the reporting of suspected child abuse. Include in-text citations and references for each of the scholarly sources used. Respond to other learners ' posts in a manner that
Employees should report contagious illnesses to their managers. Since we regularly work with children, it is imperative that we take their health as well as the health of our employees into great consideration.
The central idea I am proposing is this; the safety and health of the public will be put at risk if the same kinds of people keep political power in the future. What I mean by this is people with no engineering background or similar trade don’t have or chose not to act in the best interest of the public when their careers are on the line. On top of that the world is changing at a blinding pace: the challenges of global warming, population growth, and rapidly advancing technology, are problems the general public is ill equipped to handle, without the help of engineers in positions of power. The threats to humanity will overwhelm the political structure we currently have, unless engineers are at the helm to meet them. There are several human made disasters we have covered in the class talking about what happens when people with little to no engineering experiences made engineering decisions. For most cases only a few people were directly affected, while this is a tragedy so people lost their lives the scale of the issues has been on a smaller scale. I bring your attention to the events dubbed the Flint Water Crisis it is a much larger scale issue where thousands of people were affected by a series of bad decisions.
