I read your post and I couldn't help but to become annoyed . I know several teachers at my sons school that wouldn't allowed new changes of the new principle. It took her a minute to put her feet down ,but after a year or so we as parents could see the adjustments. I'm in shock of how direspectful adults can be. I think we need strong leaders in any business, but especially among the children's education. I think you are doing a great job and could only go as far as you are allowed. Yes,kids may lack due to lazziness or irresponsible behaviors of another, just don't lose your passion and be the childrens
It is essential to establish respectful and professional relationships with children and young people in the role of Teaching Assistant. There are certain strategies which enable such a valued and trusted relationship be established. A relationship in which a child trusts and respects their TA and feels comfortable in their company, allows the TA to offer a supportive and caring environment in which the child can learn and develop.
Needless to say, I knew nothing about teaching... and felt truly horrible about it. I searched for help and support, reached out to other teachers, administrators, the district, the board of education. For the most part mild concern and no effective action was the common response. If it weren't for one wonderful teacher who took me under her wing, for no extra pay of course, I am sure I would have given up.
I have been immensely helped by many people, and especially by Deborah Bronnert of the Department of the Environment, to whom I am particularly grateful. But shortcomings or mistakes in this Report are my fault alone. Some recommendations are radical. The participants in the construction process can react in three ways to them. They can refuse to have anything to do with the Report. That would be a pity. The problems would remain, but the goodwill to tackle them, which has been growing dramatically over the last twelve months, would be lost. They can pick out the sections which suit them and reject the rest. If everyone does that, nothing will happen. Or, hopefully, they can try to make the package work, through the implementation structures which the Report recommends. They can set about Constructing the Team. The time to choose has arrived. The construction process cannot wait 30 years for another Banwell or 50 years for another Simon.
One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain changes in the school take place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel the effect.
There are five important beliefs that I hold in regards to educating young children and they are as follows: First, children should be handled with care and respect. Second, learning should be child-centered. Third, children should be able to learn at their own level and pace. Fourth, children learn through play. Fifth, learning should not be boring; it should be fun. These same beliefs are expressed in many pre-kinder and kinder public school classes today. Teachers treat each child with the care and respect that they deserve. These classrooms are outfitted with child size tables, chairs, and rugs that center around the child’s needs and size. However, the public school system does not agree that all children who are in pre-kinder
My interest in pursuing a position as a school administrator for an elementary school system is to provide leadership for staff members and quality education for all students, and to become part of the world of education. The Benjamin Franklin School located in the Dallas School District serves as a growing population of approximately 1,070 students. The school offers a well-defined educational system for the students, and it has an overall student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1. In addition to the statewide curriculum standards, the school offers special education programs and classes for the gifted and talented. As a result of the school district rankings in the student’s performance, Benjamin Franklin School has become the worst in the
What is respect? Is the way people should be treated, how you would want to be treated, and should it come naturally or should it be taught? Respect is what are world is built on, I feel that the phrases like “reap what you sow” explain what respect works like. For example to when I am rude to someone they tend to be rude back, the same works with respect. When being disrespectful to someone you most likely will disrespect you right back. Not everyone follows these thoughts of respect. Actions like these can lead to dangerous places, people begin to break boundaries that were once built on respect.
After many years in the classroom and several as a facilitator, there were many situations that I have observed and or been a part of that did not make me happy I found myself saying what I would have said or done if I was the principal of the school. My heart began to break for those students that were in classes with teachers that did not seem to really care about whether or not the students actually got it but more so doing the bare minimum to say that the skill had been taught. I saw children struggle. I saw children and parents with hurt feelings and then angered by the way a teacher had treated or talked to them. I even saw some teachers that just did not care. I wanted that to change. For years I put off going back to school. I got my Masters in Education right after I
It is a well known fact that patient’s who suffered from cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) may experience the moments of mood change and their behaviour can be unpredictable. The situation, when patient doesn’t follow the orders of the PTA and patient’s safety is endangered, is clearly echoing the problems that are described in the chapter on respectful interaction in difficult situations. The task of the therapist is to forestall the dangerous moments and to find the approach to the troublesome patient.
This week's past Monday I have experienced the mixed feelings of uncertainty and frustration. At the beginning of the physical therapy session one of the patients with bilateral shoulder pain has asked if my CI could work with her instead of accepting my help. I have worked with this patient before, this enquiry puzzled me, and after I came back to the patient with positive answer I asked her the reason why she rejected my help.
As a principal you no longer have direct contact with one group of students therefore your focus must be on the educational outcome for all the students in your building. Mrs. Brandon make a wonderful observation the art of teaching must be blended with the science of teaching. Teachers focus on the art of teaching whereas principals focus on the science of teachers the two must be blended to ensure the academic success of all students. Mrs. Brandon’s conversations with her teachers involved speculation as to how the students were performing rather than basing it on facts and data, I would hear the same type of speculation in my school.
Asking the teachers to get involved in a plan to help the students improve would help keep the teachers in the school. “Employees with a high level of job involvement strongly identify with and really care about the kind of work they do” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, page 74). Having the teachers assist in the goal of wanting the children’s performance to increase will help with the psychological empowerment of the employees. Psychological empowerment is defined in the book as, “employee’s beliefs in the degree to which they influence their work environment.” By involving them in the decisions and the steps to achieve the goal employees will feel like they are being valued. Engaging all the employees at this point is key in this situation to try and maintain the teachers in their positions to lower the turnover. Although, it sounds that the turnover is caused by teachers leaving for schools that are not as troubled having their input could help them want to see the school and students succeed. The cons to having all the employees involved is that all will have different ideas. The more teachers there are the more difficult it is to have everyone agree on one way. All teachers will have to follow the same policies and rules as the others. Also, another issue that may arise is teachers not willing to participate in the changes to help the students
Per the corporal discussion matter on the 11/1/16, I understood that you were not for having children sit on the asphalt unacceptable as am I. Can you please advise Ms. Ramirez not to do that during 1st grade lunch recess. My students came in with dirty clothing on their bottoms which they transferred to my rug. Also their is the question of cleanliness, I am always working on teaching my children to protect themselves from germs and harmful substances, but if they are not given a choice to stand in the yard-while waiting for me- then they run they risk of catching something. Like i said before, i like to treat my children they way I expect my own child to be treated at his school.
With some exceptions, adults do not listen to what I have to say, particularly my parents, my teachers, and the counselors, etc … In my life i have experienced times where i went to talk to an adult and they didn't even listen.
Treat others how you want to be treated - If you consider certain behaviors as disrespectful or selfishly when others do it to your person, don 't do the same to your peers. Treat others with respect and integrity, and the same shall be given to you in return. Think of the law of reciprocity, and try to create a better atmosphere for everyone.
