Technology is defined as machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge. Its original use was meant solely for the service of humans, however overtime it has evolved into something much different. What was originally meant to be an assisting piece of machinery has changed almost every aspect of our culture. The way we think, communicate, lie, and even love has been impacted by the use of technology, and all of this is has made for interesting pieces of literature. In pieces such as Her and I, Robot, we see the evolution of robots and artificial intelligence into a more empathetic and humanlike creatures. This gradual change in our views of robots overtime speaks volumes to the evolution of technology. Technology in literature has become a reflection of human beings themselves, mirroring the very qualities of ourselves that make us human. By looking at the personality that technology takes on in literature, we can greater understand the aspects of ourselves that truly make us human.

After many decades elapsed, nowadays, the quality of human life is growing better. Human beings always search and invent new things in order to meet their needs. There are not only changes in the way that people dress and behave, but also there are many changes in forms of entertainment. In the past when technologies had not developed much, people usually entertained by getting together to dance, sing, or listen to music; many of them went to a small bar in the community to drink or play cards. Today is completely distinct from the time in the past. With innovative science and modern technologies, the entertainment has become easier and more convenient for all people. Everyone can relax and amuse themselves wherever and whenever with modern electronic devices such as cell phone, tablet, LCD TV, laptop, etc. Therefore, technology has become part of our life. Many people say that we could not do anything without technology; it helps people to make work easier. In fact, technology not only impacts our daily lives, but it also has a strong influence on the criminal justice system. If law enforcement officers apply technology to their investigations, it will assist to make the investigations less difficult and more efficient. So, what has the technology already helped to make an improvement in the criminal justice field, and how has it impacted on the law enforcement?

The clock is ticking, the work is piling up, and with only a few hours to go before sunrise you stop and realize that you have just read some fifty pages and absorbed almost nothing. Some would agree when I say that this situation epitomizes one of the common problems of the Net Generation. With the help of the Internet, not only has every aspect of life gotten faster and more efficient, but it has changed the way people process information and perform tasks. In addition, while technology does have its benefits, the extensive use of the internet is affecting the way people think.

Over the years technology has changed our lives. Today there are kids getting cell phones, laptops, iPads, etc… that thirty years ago it was new technology and that it was for business use. In the last ten or so years cell phones have become very popular and a norm. Cell phones have made it easier for people to be and stay in contact with each other rather than have a land line phone. With cell phones becoming more and more popular, there will be issues that will have to be fixed or solutions to help prevent anything bad to happen. One issue that is a real problem right now with cell phones is sexting. Sexting started in 2005 and now has become the most popular thing for teens and young adults to do (The Evolution of Cell Phone Design Between 1983-2009). Sexting is when someone sends, receives, or forwards pictures of nudity and sexual messages through texting (“Sexting”). Most of the sexting is among minors which is illegal and they can be punished for it. Unfortunately it has been going out of control, more and more teens are doing it. So parents need to understand why sexting is not good and look at how they can prevent it from getting worse. Parents need to help these teens and young adults to understand that sexting is bad. It can also hurt them in the future, so some solutions that can help with this are, parents talking to schools about sexting, informing their teens on what sexting is, and the best solution out of these three is parents need to get the word out

One item that has flourished through the decades, and has come to substantially impact our lives is the phone. The first telephone was created in 1876, and as decades passed by, it was replaced by the cellphone, which incorporated the addition of many useful new features. Additional features such as text messaging, a built-in camera, and internet access transformed the people’s perceptions because the add-ons presented more purpose to the cellphone. With the implementation of these advancements, the cellphone proved to be a reliable tool and distracting burden in daily life; while it reduced once painfully tedious tasks to a single touch and earned much positive feedback, users had become so dependent on it that people also started to grow concerned about the cellphone and its potential impact on future generations of cellphone users.

Today a lot of people use technology such as computers, smartphones, and tablets to get information, to buy something, and to communicate with family and friends. Since technology has been developed, people’s lives have also been changed. One of the examples is that many companies have started to sell their products through the Internet and customers look for goods and buy them on the Internet. Before technology was developed, people had to go to stores to purchase products. However, we can look for and purchase products whenever and wherever we want now. Shopping has become more convenient. I also often use technology to buy products, especially flight tickets. Since I came to the United States, whenever I go traveling or go back to Japan during breaks, I used an online travel agency, Expedia, to purchase my flight tickets. This is because it is very convenient. I can search and reserve my flight quickly. Usually, I do not have any problem with Expedia, but I had trouble with it because of technology during this spring break. I think that if humans operated the service, the problem did not happen.

It is amazing how everyone’s life is changing by using technology. Technology by definition means, the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.(web). Technology seems to be a topic with a lot of baggage attached to it. Since the evolution of technology a vast amount of social interaction has been diminished. Personal time with others has been cut down significantly as the new modern technology is now available for nearly anyone. Constantly being attached to a cell phone or computer screen is prohibiting social interaction between all kinds of relationships. Many say it is the fault of the individual to let the technology usage go as far as ruining communications that were once frequent among a kinship. Catching up on the latest celebrity gossip has become more important than talking to a spouse about their work day. Social media or online work can feel like an addiction to those who regularly use it. Now that the internet is accessible almost anywhere at anytime, the desire to be on board with the latest social media attraction has become nearly impossible to avoid. Being an avid technology user can put people at risk of becoming socially deprived of face-to-face communication since the user may prefer telecommunications rather than an in-person conversation. Due to a depletion of direct facial communication many believe that the use of technology is at fault; however these allegations are being fought against as others see technology as an advancement in communication.

Young people nowadays might remember the time that they had their first mobile phone, but there are only a few of them can remember what was the the first time they watched a television. Televisions are so familar to many people. It is one of the blockbuster inventions of all time. Back in ten years ago, the television is how people get the news, and how they entertain themselve, not a computer. Computers in ten years ago were a comlicated machine to use. Even in the twenty first century, the computers or many other high technology machines have much more advance features than a television, but they can be seen as present-day duplicates of televisions. Mostly their functions are broadcasting. Although they seem to be the same concept, laptops, smart phones, and some other mobile technology gadgets are more loved because they can carry many tasks at a time in just a tiny machine. People can trust the technology to help them with their works in most of the situation in daily life. Since technology is so common nowadays, people senselessly cling on to them nonstop. At the same time they senselessly see technology as indispensable part of life.

We interact with multiple messaging services via brief conversations of abbreviations and image sharing. We speak through images, abandoning words and written language. “Memes” inducing a reaction in under a minute, due to our ability to connect hundreds of cultural contexts back to a single image. No one has spoken more than several words, sometimes none, and we are in an uproar of ideas and emotions with a glance at a single image in a “meme”. We begin to think like our machines.

In today’s society, technology has increasingly become more present in our lives. Grow-ing up, what I remember most was whenever I was a home, the one place anybody could be sure to find me was in my bedroom, sitting behind my Sony laptop doing random things. For many people, including myself, who grew up around computers and technology, it is really hard to imagine living in a world without them by our sides since we are so used to having them around. So where did computers and laptop even come from?
