Come Sail Away Vacation is a time that most people, both young and old, look forward to with great expectation. Much thought and consideration are usually given regarding the details and planning of a vacation. Finding a great location with activities and dining options for all can be challenging. Our family struggled with this dilemma for many years, until we went on a cruise vacation. There, we found the vacation of our dreams. We had a solid week that we did not have to drive anywhere, cook, wash dishes, clean anything, or even make the bed. Because one can travel in luxurious accommodations to exotic ports of call, enjoy fine cuisine, service and entertainment for an economical price, cruising is the best vacation one can take.
Cruise ships leave daily from locations all over the world and sail to many wonderful ports of call. One can go to the Caribbean, Mexico, Bahamas, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, or even take a cruise to nowhere to name just a few. Depending on the length of the cruise, the ship stops at particular locations and stays in port all day. One can enjoy the best excursion each port has to offer during the day, then return back on board that evening to cruise away to the next day’s location. The only responsibility one has is getting back to the ship on time.
Cruises can be as expensive or as economical as one desires them to be. It really just depends on the experience one is
The criteria I have chosen for choosing a weekend cruise to The Bahamas suggest that I should depart from Miami following the weekend starting Friday December 5 to Sunday December 9, in a cruise ship capable of accommodating a minimum of 1500 passenger with a max of 2000 passengers. The cruise ship shouldn’t be older than 10 years if never renovated. If renovated it should be 5 years from the date renovation was finished. The entire cruise for two should not exceed $600. My recommendation for the weekend cruise to The Bahamas is option 3 or ship 3. According to the criteria I assign for this cruise, ship 1 (The Bahamas Paradise) is the more indicating to travel on. Apparently fits the criteria with the exception of the
Summary: The cruise line industry has been experiencing a period of massive expansion over the last decade thus heightening the competitive profile for the industry in terms of market share and competitive rivalry. Now cruise industry is one of the most competitive across all.
Cruise lines accounted for only 5.2% of the $575.2 billion worth of the travel industry in 2014. While the revenue for cruises has declined in the US, it is growing in Europe and Asia, leading to more opportunities for Carnival to expand in these regions. Current plans calls to increase berth capacity for the European market 30% and 20% for the Asian Market by 2016.
Copa Cruises - Welcome Aboard! Copa Cruises is a 40-year old company that offers dining and sightseeing cruises. What started with only one ship at Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is now a big business operating at multiple locations with 40 vessels. Copa operates scheduled tours at least twice daily during the peak travel/tourism seasons at each of its locations. The total number of scheduled tours varies based on the number of vessels available at each location. Copa also offers its ships exclusively for groups. In fact, a significant portion of Copa’s revenues come from group bookings. Typically, group customers book for corporate events, weddings, or private celebrations (e.g. family reunion). Copa customizes the table arrangement, the deck,
They day was finally here! The day I would go on the greatest ship in the world. The Titanic. My mother and I were going to America to try and start a new life. My father died from cancer a year ago, so we wanted a new start. Even though we were third class, I still was really grateful we had this opportunity to go on the Titanic. There were 840 rooms in the ship and 2,240 passengers (“Encyclopedia-Titanica”). “Come on Mom! We can’t be late,” I exclaimed, more excited than ever.
They make it enjoyable for all by adding value to the many different activities that they have on and off board. Carnival Cruise wants to be known as a cruise that instills a great time no matter what. Their rapid growth is simply amazing, due to the great people that work on their marketing team. When you think of some of the top companies in the world today, Carnival Cruise has to be one of those companies. They are the leader of the cruise line industry, and they will continue to be the leader of the cruise line industry, because they are able to adapt to the times.
There are nine main cruise line, these include Ambassador International, Carnival Corporation, Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Lines, Louis Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Silversea Cruises and Star Cruises (Cruising). The major cruises out of these are Royal Caribbean and Carnival Corporation. These cruises line are known for using their popularity to their advantage by raising their prices at any given time. But on the other hand, all the ships are comparable. All passage can anticipate the equivalent experience on board. In addition Rivalry is at a peek because getting rid of a cruise industry cost more than to just keep into development.
“A penny saved is a penny earned.” “A job worth doing is worth doing right.” We apply both of these sayings to the working world all of the time. Why not apply them to our vacationing world as well? Like most people, I look forward to a vacation, but planning it can become overwhelming if you’re not prepared. Planning a vacation should be fun and exciting. Vacationing is not always a priority to many families due to economic distress, but as little as a few hundred dollars you can plan a weekend getaway that’s inexpensive but a lot of fun!
A few international differences affect the operations of cruise lines. Differences include political/legal, geographic, economic, or sociocultural. Since cruise lines are an international business, they are affected by these differences. Many cruise lines choose to flag their vessels in countries that have “lower taxes and less stringent employment practices required by the laws of those countries” (The Cruise). However, some governments may choose to subsidize the ship industry in order to secure contracts for their domestic firms. Many ships are built in order to be appealing to the eye, but with cruise ships going to so many different places, they have to be designed not only to accommodate the economic reality of the mass market, but also the cultural preferences of the clientele.
The final uncontrollable force affecting the cruise line industry is competition (Montalvo, 2007). This is probably the least influential force since 91% of the cruise line industry is made up of three companies-Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Star. These three organizations are world-famous and have developed the cruise concept to the point that there is a cruise that will fit just about every person’s destination dream and budget reality.
Cruising has become popular in the UK and throughout the world for holidays. Breaking travel news states that, ‘Cruise holidays are on the rise and the cruise industry seems
During the recent economic contraction, the cruise industry has been continually changing with more carriers purchasing larger ships. This is part of an effort to offer better amenities when attracting upscale cliental. However, the industry has become more competitive and the total number of players has increased exponentially.
The luxury and destinations segments are similar in that both of them target the upper class or those with healthy disposable incomes including retirees that are at a stage in their lifecycle allowing them to take longer, exclusive cruises often. People on these cruises demand the finest quality in all respects. A formal atmosphere with refined white glove service, along with personalized service accounts for value and satisfaction. Psychologically, these users are above all and deserve the best of the best. Therefore, their lifestyles allow them to be regular and heavy users of cruise vacations. Based on their preference, it can be assumed that these segments are hard core or split loyal to the brands they choose because their attitudes are very enthusiastic towards the type of experience they expect and may be hostile towards anything less. The type of ship is small for both segments, representing the small percentage of the market occupied. Therefore, little priority should be placed on targeting these segments. Users that decide to buy this cruise package will be for the sole psychographic reason of social status to
Almost everyone has their own idea of a dream vacation. It's the perfect place to get away from the reality of every day life and the stress that goes along with it, and the choices and ideas of the “perfect vacation” are as varied as the people who dream about them. Some fantasize about lazing on a warm, sunny beach with soft ocean breezes and a cold exotic drink at their side. Some dream of forests and wildlife, cool running streams, and fresh mountain air that is thick with the scent of pine. There are those whose ideas of the perfect dream vacation involves the thrill of stock car racing mixed with the roar of the crowd, the smell of fuel and hot asphalt that's
The cruise industry has definitely evolved over the years to meet the changing demands and expectations of its passengers. The most important changes in the industry over the years are the introduction of shore excursions, new cruise routes and changes in the ships themselves. The first cruise ships offered few to no excursions while all the modern cruise lines offer over 100 excursions per cruise. These excursions can include participating in an actual boat race in Philipsburg, climbing waterfalls in Ocho Rios and scuba diving which is always very popular among passengers. They are designed to give the passengers a new and thrilling experience that they cannot attain at home. In the old days, the only cruise routes available were transatlantic and small European routes. The transatlantic route became unpopular in the 1960’s as air travel shortened travelling time from less than 20 hours by air versus four days by cruise. However, with the launch of newer,
