In the busy life of an everyday high school or college student, health is pushed to the bottom of the totem pole, in most cases. More times than not, school days are crammed with various activities, there is no time to eat, and homework and jobs cut into sleep time. Most students do not realize how often they neglect their own health. Intelligence is an advantage to succeed in school, but a more important aspect to succeeding in school is the lifestyle of the student. The best lifestyle to have is a healthy one. I am not talking about the bodybuilding level of health. A healthy lifestyle simply means to take care of your body. As soon as students start seeing improvements in their health, they will more than likely see vast changes in their school work. The discipline from exercising can and will have an impact on the discipline of a student’s effort in the classroom.

Once a healthy routine is started, it is all a chain reaction. When homework is done in a reasonable amount of time because of newfound energy, more time to rest the body is discovered. Students do not realize the impact sleep has on their health. The on-the-go life of a student can be extremely damaging to their health. A student needs to be well rested in order to focus in classes. Lack of sleep can cause a student to be inattentive in the classroom. In some classes, if a student does not pay attention to the lecture or lab, they will fall behind and it could be hard to catch back up. This causes more stress on the student. In this case, the easier path is the healthiest one. When students get enough sleep, it is easier for them to stay on top of their school work. On the other hand, stress occurs if a student neglects to get enough sleep. A healthy sleep schedule is significant in determining the success of a student.
