Hulu should focus on the ability to engage its audience in interesting and captivating content for original TV series. We saw with Netflix the premiers of popular TV shows such as Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. Hulu could also negotiate harder when it comes to content deals with different TV networks.

To combat the issue of cancellations we recommend that Netflix implement some form of a loyalty program and/or a referral program. If Netflix were to begin to offer deals such as a free month after a customer has subscribed for a year or rebates for customers who use their Netflix account frequently, they would be able to improve brand loyalty and increase the average time of a subscription. Our second recommendation is to implement a referral program. For example, if a subscriber refers three people in a months’ time to Netflix, and those three people begin a subscription, that customer would receive a free month. These programs or another form of them would increase customer loyalty and have a positive effect on the amount of cancellations.

Generally, customers that watch Netflix do not use it to watch series that are out presently but they use Netflix to binge watch series that they haven’t seen before without commercial

Binge watching also referred to as binge-viewing or marathon-viewing is watching television or a single television show for a long time span. It has become a very popular cultural phenomenon because of the online media services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon video. Viewers can also watch television shows and movies on-demand in a binge-viewing manner with cable and satellite services such as Time Warner Cable, Dish Network, and DirecTV. Movie apps and Amazon Fire TV stick also make binge watching adaptable. These companies offer their patrons their services at very affordable prices and therefore making it that much more convenient. Entire seasons of shows such as Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards are just two of the many shows viewers can indulge in. Other shows that are shown on television and not released at the same time, such as Breaking Bad and Undercover Boss can be found on Netflix and encourages binge watching. Binge watching has changed the relationship between the series and its audience in many different ways such as giving the viewer total control to choose when and where and for how long he or she wants to view the show.

Given that I do not feel the need to watch a new episode immediately when it comes out, I often go to the library to borrow the DVDs when they become available a couple of month after the end of the season. Moreover, even though I am a huge fan of the Game of Thrones series, I still only watch clips of the show on Youtube.
