I have had many experiences that have made me who I am today. I began my education at the Pomona Kindergarten Learning Center, and then the Reeds Road Elementary School. This set the foundation for me to be a good student, and to serve my community. As I moved onto the Galloway Township Middle School, I tried many activities such as band, cross country, and the Think Day Team. In these activities, I made new friends and continued to learn about the world and how to become a better person. The scope of my life experiences broadened as I entered high school. I was surrounded by mostly new people and a different environment. I joined the academic team and math club and discovered more about what I like to do. Outside of school, I took on a job, …show more content…
While attending middle school, I applied for the Engineering Magnet Program at Cedar Creek High School, and was accepted. I live in Galloway Township, so I would be attending Absegami High School if I was not accepted into this program. I am enrolled in Honors and Advanced Placement courses. I really enjoy learning and putting forth my best effort in my work. In the years to come, I plan on continuing my education in college in preparation for my career.
I have a part time job. I am a cashier at ShopRite in Galloway Township. I have been working there the past seven months. During this time, I have assisted several new employees in learning how to bag groceries and use the cash register. My work experience goes far beyond helping my fellow employees. Frequently, customers ask for help to find an item. Whenever I am asked, I lead to them to the item that they are looking for.
I am involved at the Assumption Church in Galloway as an Altar Server. I have spent many hours over the past five years serving my church during mass and other celebrations. Many new Altar Servers have looked to me for guidance on how to serve. During mass and training sessions, I have helped and taught the new altar servers how to perform their duties. In addition to helping other altar servers, I have recruited many new ones, especially during our parish festival. Our church had less Altar Servers than usual one year, and I was asked to encourage more of my peers to
While selecting classes my junior year of high school, I was unsure of what I wanted to take. I had accounted for all of my core classes, even taking extra ones to get college credit. I wanted to take a class that would be meaningful to my future, and not just something that I would forget about shortly after the end of the class. My father suggested that I take Career Internship because he thought that it would be beneficial to me, and he knew that it would be a challenging class for me. When I chose the class, I was hopeful that it could shed some light on my future career choice. I chose to intern with Dr. Orta, who specializes in Physical Therapy. When choosing him as my mentor, he was in the process of starting his own business in Elkin. He, along with help from his friends and myself, chose the name “Tri-County Sports and Rehab.” As the business owner and his own boss, Dr. Orta was responsible for everything for his patients as a doctor of Physical Therapy. As an Intern, I shadowed Dr. Orta, and observed how he dealt with patients and the methods of healing and strengthening that he used. Since the internship was my fourth period, I would travel to the site from 1:45-3:15 every day.
The second principle refers to the innate abilities and skills that guide us toward specific interests (Brennfleck & Brennfleck, 2003). In order to gain an idea of the female undergrad student I would need to ask her some questions about her interests and strengths she can best identify with to determine a suitable professional degree and field to work toward. For instance, I have had strong interests in learning about myself, how others think and solve problems. Strengths that I was able to identify with include effectively communicating with others, being flexible, a desire to help others and having a positive attitude.
All through high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I graduated. When people would ask me what I wanted to study or what career I wanted, I would shrug my shoulders and say, “I don’t know”. Entering my first year of college, not much had changed, I still didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do and had yet to choose a major let alone a career. What I was certain about the career I wanted was that I would be happy to go in for work every day and that I wanted to be able to help people in whatever I chose to do. After careful consideration and exploring the options available to me, I have come to the decision that I want to have a career in physical therapy.
I just entered 9th grade in Hampton Bays High School. I enjoy playing soccer and I love photography, I think that it’s such a beautiful art. Before I came to Hampton Bays I was from East Hampton. Entered Hampton Bays towards the end of 8th grade. I learned a lot about transferring schools. I learned in many ways from negative to positive. People would always tell me that people in Hampton Bays were nice that I should be happy. That just entered from one ear and left right through the other. Now I have started to learn that I should be happy about starting a new chapter in my life. Because moving from place to place doesn't always have to be towards the negative, it can always be towards the positive. I think that everyone who has taken part of my journey in my life is part of who I am. People that I am close with, or not and just have only spoken to them once. I learn from them knowing what is right and what is not. No matter who the person is I learned something about them. That’s what I think makes me who I am, learning from others.
Growing up I was never completely positive what I wanted to do with my life as far as a career choice, but I did know that I wanted to help people and have a positive impact on those that I came into contact with. So, it was not long after graduating high school that I became a CNA. I enjoyed everything about my job and always felt that it was a good fit for me, but with every passing day I found myself wanting to learn more. I began going to school in 2015, working towards getting my RN and decided to take an EKG course. Soon thereafter, I discovered that I was in love with the heart muscle and that cardio was my calling. My future goals are to get my RN and work in cardiology. These goals are very expensive ones, especially since I went backwards in life and had not only one, but three children before finishing school. The Dr.Charles Inlow scholarship could help me fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse in cardio because it will relieve some of the stress of paying college expenses, create more opportunities for my family and I to spend quality time, and will also benefit my resume for future applications.
Growing up, there was several different career paths I wanted to take but was not reachable at the time. Throughout my high school my career goal was to be a civil or mechanical engineer. At the time, it wasn’t clear to me what a engineer’s job function is. My family urged me to pursue that dream just because of the perks that comes with it such as money. Math was never my strong suit, neither was school and to become an engineer, several mathematics courses are required. My first two years as a transfer student in college, I had no idea what my career path should be if engineering doesn’t work out. After taking careful consideration, working in the tech industry was something that needed to be done. A few friends of mine gently pushed me in that direction but my vision to pursue a career in tech was a bit fuzzy. Eventually I started leaning towards business, but by then it was already to late for me to switch majors. I chose Sociology as my major because I found the courses interesting to learn, and it is something I can apply to business. Earlier this semester, I decided to push towards specific fields such as sales or human resources. Eventually, I do see myself In a leadership position at work such as a management position in my work place. I do believe I have what it takes to become a manager, but only after being with a company for some time so I can understand the concepts and how to adapt to the given environment.
Take a risk on dreams, take a risk on your passions, and before it’s too late, take a risk on
Throughout my four years of high school I have attended many classes, sport events, and had many other experiences that changed my view on life. As i later look back on these experiences. I see how much they really changed my view on people, the way I treat them and about life in general. Over the years, all of these experiences and situations have built me up and turned me into the person that I am today.
Throughout my time as a high school student at Augusta High School, I have experienced numerous new opportunities. A big opportunity I have taken advantage of is the Butler Academy program offered through the high school. By the time I graduate, I will have a great amount of college credit allowing me to finish off this school year as a high school graduate as well as earning an Associates degree in Science and Engineering Technology. In high school, I have been involved in soccer, football, bowling, track and field, National Honors Society, and Friends of Freshman. I have also recently started to help First Baptist Church with their AWANA club program. I grew up living little ways outside of town, and currently, live out on a farm Southwest of Augusta. Living on a farm has taught me many useful skills. I have also gotten the chance to work for my neighbor and help around his property as well. After high school, I plan on entering the workforce and finding a job that not only pays well but one I can use my college degree and interest in.
My experiences in grade school, middle school and high school have all shaped me not only as a student but as a person. Ever since I could remember all my teachers, my mom, my family and those around me have
Choosing a career path is a bit like playing pin the tail on the donkey. Possible outcomes include: The player could become dizzy from the countless directional choices, wander away from the primary target, or forge ahead with confidence toward the ultimate prize. Fortunately, the last outcome reflects my path to my dream career. I discovered at an early age that I was interested in the field of medical science. Although my decision has evolved some over the years, I have never wavered in my general opinion that my career path will lead me into the medical field.
There are many career paths to be taken when trying to decide what would best suit my skillset, but when you know your personality type it narrows those multitude of career paths down to what most others with your personality would be successful at in the job world.
Life works in mysterious ways, and my path has led me to pursue a career in the Social Work field. My last two years of high school were unique because I was a full time dual enrolled student, which allowed me to graduate with both my high school diploma and my Associate of Arts degree. Now I am twenty years old and will be graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology. Upon entering my undergraduate program, I had some idea of what career path I wanted to follow. I had taken many entry-level psychology courses while pursuing my Associate of Arts degree and it peaked my interest. At first, I wanted to be a guidance counselor and then I contemplated being a mental health counselor. It was not until I took a course the first year of my undergraduate career that I knew my future career path. The course I took was Issues in Culture and Society with a concentration in Death and Dying. In that class, I learned how beautiful death can be and how important it is for someone to have a good death. The class also gave me information on grieving for all ages and how to help individuals experiencing grief and this is when I decided to become a bereavement counselor. My mother died when I was seven and I had to grieve in silence, so I want to help others with their grief, so they do not have a similar experience to mine.
I haven’t really experienced much, other than education and first few jobs. I experienced singing in chorus in school. I experienced how to deal with bullying in school. I experience many different things during school. At home I experience many fun things. For example, hanging with family, going out to eat and going to places. I experienced taking care of a cat. I also experienced volunteering in many different places. I interact
I was born May 28, 2003 in Dubuque, IA. And a major thing in my life is my schools. So, let me tell you about those. The first school I ever went to was "Early Learners" where I learned the basics. But of course in preschool you don 't really get graded or anything. After all, it is "pre-school." But the second school I went to was "Table Mound." Over by Casey 's and all those places. Table Mound was definitely a big place for me. Back then anyways, I looked at it like it was a huge school. There I also had to move because I was outside the school district, and we moved into a trailer. And the trailer was really nice on the inside, and it had 2 bathrooms so I didn’t really care. Next I went to Audubon, where I moved back to my old house, where I still live now. Then I went to Thomas Jefferson Middle School. And I like this place a lot. I like how we don’t have to stay in one class, and I also like how we can have our phones out at lunch. And I think I don’t get as mad in class because if I get frustrated with a teacher, I don’t have to stay with them the whole day. And that’s why I like middle school the most.
