As a childcare practitioner it is important that I am able to recognise when a child in their early years may have a range of learning needs. To ensure I am offering an inclusive practice where the child is supported and feels valued and is helping them towards achieving the Five Outcomes of The Every Child Matters Framework.

I have been a qualified childcare worker since 1997 and thoroughly enjoy the work that I do, however I feel that it's only since October 2013 when I started my E100 The early years: Developing practice course that I have have truly developed as a practitioner. I have always known that I wanted to make a difference in society by becoming a teacher, due to my love of children and helping people understand various topics. I have worked with children by babysitting, instructing karate, leading children’s Sunday school, and working at a summer camp. By doing these activities I have established bonds with diverse groups of children, but at the same time, I kept a professional and respectable boundary. I have successfully worked inside a planning department alongside people of all ages and personalities in planning activities and lessons for kids.

I am applying to Texas Tech University due to my goal of majoring in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my years of schooling I was inspired by many of my teachers to become one myself. I have dreamed about becoming a teacher and having my own classroom since the first grade. My first grade teacher, Mrs. Fife, was absolutely amazing. She had a way of always making you feel welcome and showed me how enjoyable school could truly be. It was the day she asked everyone what they would like to be when they grow up that I realized I wanted to teach an elementary level just like she had. She was my role model, and as my schooling years continued I realized that one day I too could be someone’s role model. The thought of going through schooling to
