I Want to Become an Educator
Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
I feel that in order for students to prosper they must be

My curriculum will be cooperatively planned, as to emphasize the interests and ideals of my students. My teaching style will most likely reflect the abilities of my students. I will strive to maintain a pace at which my students will comprehend the material being studied. It will be necessary for me to reach out to those students who need extra attention and assistance to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve academic goals.
As I become a teacher, I realize there are other issues beyond subject content that will connect myself with my students. Children have psychological needs that may not be met by their parents or peers. I must work diligently to develop and maintain a high level of self-esteem in my students if I expect them to take risks as learners. In order for students to develop their skills, they need to set learning goals using my guidance. I will take the time to meet with my students individually so that we may develop a rapport, thus creating a supportive learning environment.
Considering that education is constantly evolving, teachers must be open to the idea of educational reform. Although I am not certain in which direction educational reform is currently headed, it has meant great things for teachers in the past. During the time that I was a student in the 1980’s, the school reform movement led to teacher empowerment,
As a teacher, I will work to fully provide opportunities for authentic learning, where every child feels valued, safe and included. My goal will be to find occasions every day to nurture independent learning, along with peer support that promotes a sense of personal growth and achievement. I recognize that every child has strengths and weaknesses, special talents, and specific needs, regardless of individual challenges. My objective will be to model appropriate behavior and show acceptance of everyone
Education is a crucial tool in developing the skills needed to go throughout life. From the time we are born, we are constantly learning. Our parents try to teach us words, shapes and colors, but our true education starts in kindergarten. At this time we are learning many things that we will use for the rest of our lives. These essential skills that we learn in the early years of our education are what help us to excel in the future. The basic knowledge of certain topics can easily be expanded upon. What we learn throughout our elementary education becomes the building blocks for our future. The people that are responsible for this imperative type of learning are elementary school teachers. Deciding a future for myself is becoming a pressing matter, and the career that I can see myself enjoying most is an elementary school teacher. I was intrigued by the tasks completed by elementary school teachers, and the value they have for the future. Without them, our future generations may not have the best education that they
Education entails individual human development in the cognitive, emotional, creative and social areas. All children are entitled to a free education regardless of race, cultural background or handicaps. For education to be an effective part of the students life, the student and teacher must be actively and enthusiastically involved in learning. A teacher needs to be well prepared and organized. They need to know the perspective goals for each student and ways to achieve these goals. Teachers need to work with students to help them grow and develop ways to use their knowledge.
In the article, the authors express the critical need for middle level preservice teachers to be beyond prepared, when attempting to engage in reform-oriented advocacy. The authors believe that novel teachers need to have more than just passion when coming in the educational environment. Reason being is that teachers, especially new ones tends to establish the idea that teaching can be and is a piece of cake. Throughout the article, they express that it is “ok” for teachers to hold this educational belief, but their mindsets should be embrace more than just passion.
An article states, “Developing an in depth understanding of each learner enables teachers to create a psychologically safe environment for every learner, determine each student’s readiness for learning, identify multiple access points to the curriculum to increase engagement and success, and develop and demonstrate greater emotional intelligence in the classroom” (Kusuma- Powell & Powell 2011). Teachers can build relationships and trust from students by creating an environment where students are comfortable and feel like they can be themselves. When the relationship and trust has been established students will open up and express their thoughts and teachers will be able to learn the readiness level of students. Students tend to engage more when they feel comfortable and trust that the teacher is there to encourage and motivate
Education reform is the goal set forth to change the public education system. This topic has been discussed for many years, and still remains a topic that is debated regularly. We will discuss some factors that can contribute to successful school reform. In my opinion, successful school reform starts with strengthening the link between school, family, and the community. If these areas are coherent, reform can surely take place. There should also be a link that connects policies and practices to research. Every aspect of instruction should be driven by proven research that shows these actions to be beneficial to ALL students. Therefore, teachers should also be provided with professional learning opportunities that help meet the needs of all
Education is a very important part of society. I feel that it should teach children how to function in a society, and learn the basics they will need to expand on for the rest of their life. I feel that it is used to teach moral, and ethical standards of living. The schools are used to help the children learn to function in life, and achieve the goals of their choosing. Education is important because without it I firmly believe that society would be a very savage institution. With the things that we teach in today’s schools we give the power to know the basics such as reading, writing, and math but we also give them the ability to function in a society. As a teacher I hope to set my student of fire. I want to see them come alive with a desire to want everything that is out there for them. I want to be able to make a difference in just one person’s life. If I can do this I would feel I have done what I am supposed to do. I want my students to know the world is theirs to take and do with it whatever they may choose.
Accepting each learner ' unique ability and goals, a teacher can accommodate each student’s individual need to encourage academic goals. Teaching as always been perceived as learning as a reciprocal process. When educators
I believe that every person/student is very unique and brings a lot ot the table in order for everyone to learn from. The teacher needs to create a safe and welcoming learning environment when at school. The students should feel comfortable when coming to class and find that their teacher cares about their education. When caring for and loving the students in the class the teacher is respecting them and welcoming them with open arms. Through this, I will work with the students in helping them get where they need to be academically and teaching on their level of learning they are in. I will go to all lengths to help them grow in and grasp what is being taught if they are behind not comprehending the
Inside Teaching provides an up close and personal look into the realities of classroom life revealing the challenges teachers face daily in the pursuit of educating the nation’s children. It examines the efforts, expectations and failures of education reform. The book begins from the premise that while we seem to know (or think we know) what teaching looks like, we do not know why it looks this way. “Reforms typically fail, forcing us to acknowledge that although we know a lot about what teaching looks like, we know almost nothing about why it looks like this” (Kennedy, 2005 p. 1) In an effort to explore the why Kennedy hypothesizes that the failures are a result of a gap in understanding between reformers and teachers. She further asserts that this gap in understanding is predominately on the reformers side, although highly educated and committed teachers are held responsible for the failures. The inequality in assigning the responsibility or blame on teachers inspired Kennedy to write the book asking two fundamental questions: “Why, when American teachers are well educated, motivated, and provided with numerous resources professional development opportunities, are both they and reformers so often dissatisfied with their teaching practices? And why, when reformers have been laboring for decades to improve practice, have they been largely unsuccessful”? (p. 225)
As educators we want our students to show growth in our content areas, but we also have a direct effect on a student’s growth as a person, their self-esteem, and can help or hinder them. It’s about teaching students how to learn. A positive, welcoming environment is essential, and increases the students desire to be there. Teaching is also about creating those relationships, then learning can begin. (Reasoner)
There are many reasons to why students want to join the education field. But why do I want to take up an education major? Ever since I can remember as a little girl, I was always playing school with my cousins and wanted to be the teacher in charge. It was such a great feeling to teach my younger cousins something they didn’t know. That’s one reason why it puts me at where I am today. Giving those students the best education and watching them grow. The purpose of education is to have my students become successful in life. My goal is to get to know my students and figure out which teaching strategy they learn best by.
Back in Spring Quarter 2013, I had the chance to go observe a local high school in the LAUSD, being there help lead to my decision of becoming an educator. Being able to observe the students helped me see the different student 's behavior that I will need to work with. I remember when I was there seeing two students who did worry about their education, and the teacher not doing much to encourage them. After observing the two students it helped lead to my decision on becoming a teacher even more. My purpose will be to make a difference in teens’ lives through education. The main reason is to educate the future generations by teaching them about their own potential. By having them learn their own potential we can help them see that they can grow up and enter the adult world. As educators we can help prepare them for the real world and show them that no matter where they come from their dreams can come true, by putting their minds to it. Overall, I want to invest time in teaching students their literacy, their prosperity, and prepare them for the future.
My rapport with parents and credibility with their child determines what type of relationship I will have with my students. In order to effectively educate, a teacher has to develop a relationship of respect and trust, along with sacrificing along the way. This is actually an area I consider myself to be strong in because I feel compelled to speak with my parents in both negative and praises. By calling, encouraging, and supporting the parents, students
For as long as I can remember I have had the desire to work with children. I have grown up helping my mother care for children as well as taking the responsibility on my own in my job. I believe strongly in pursuing a future and career that is something I am truly passionate about. Over the past years that I have worked with children I’ve found that if I am striving to do something I would enjoy, working with children is something I would like to pursue. Not only working with them, but teaching and helping their minds to prosper in order to pursue their dreams to the best ability. It is to my knowledge that many people feel the need to ignore the distinguished social classes that exist in society. I also find that social classes are very apparent and that the children who are minorities and less advantaged are not receiving an education as sufficient as those of the middle or upper class. I am extremely against this and I hope to help overcome it.
