Influential Theorists

Within the elementary classroom, there is a copious amount of rules, guidelines and considerations a teacher must take into account. Learning theories such as social, cognitive, and behavioral learning should be implemented to provide framework and boundaries for the children. When incorporating learning theories in the classroom, it is important to have a clear understanding of how they work and how they will benefit the child and the teacher. These particular theories allows the teacher to run an efficient and effective classroom from day one.

Vygotsky and Piaget theories can apply to an Early Childhood classroom simply because most of their theories will benefit the teachers to use in their classroom. Vygotsky’s scaffolding is when teacher to show guidance towards their students so the students can have the ability to comprehend and think on their own. Solving problems and solution is a boundless to use in the classroom especially if the teachers need and want the children to prepare themselves for the real world. Piaget’s theory has the four stages of Cognitive ability. Thus it will benefit the teacher to use when they are observing the child thinking abilities with proper use of the assessment and difference of the child’s age. For an example if the teacher is teaching two years old she would want to look for make believe play, when a child likes to pretend they are a character from movie or book this stage is call Preoperational Stage. Teachers should observe the activities when the child is pretending to be Queen Elsa or Princess Anna.

The effect individual theories have on an environment depends how they are incorporated within the classroom in addition to the influence they have had on the curriculum construction. This essay will briefly look at how motivation theory, cognitive and social cognitive theory along with constructivism have impacted on education and the classroom.

Behaviorism is one of the most used theories in education. Due to it can fit in both a classroom setting and at home. Educators had sought out the reason why for many years. But due to each child learns a different way so should the educator. Behaviorism was study by many great Psychologists over the years. Just to name some that had done work and publish books on the subject are, John Watson, Ivan Pavlov, Clark Hull, and B.F. Skinner.

When looking at history and try to discover famous thinkers in our society, many men and women stand out. Famous thinkers are people who used critical thinking and perseverance to overcome adversity to succeed. The two that stand out in my mind are Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lets discuss their contributions to society as a whole, the problems or issues that they resolved, and how they were able to come up with their solutions.

From this we further investigate and try to understand the different theorist’s point of view and how their theories affect each individuals learning, in order to assist a teacher when preparing the lessons.

His Pedagogy theory of education is to explore and discover. To awaken the curiosity in children for children to be able to explore and find their passion. With that passion, they can be important drivers of the socio-economic environment that surrounds them directly and indirectly.

The nursing need Theory was developed by Virginia Henderson in 1966 and it outlines nursing practice concentration. The theory explains the importance of increase patients' independence. In addition, it addresses the basic needs of human and how nurses can assist meeting those needs. I've started in the nursing field right after high school, I've worked in long-term facilities, rehabilitation, and hospitals. My pride is seeing patients' progression and knowing that I made a difference. When I started nursing, I felt limited in my role and I wanted to be more involved. This theory influences me to pursue a higher education, so I can continue meeting patients' needs and assisting patients meeting optimal health.

For many people in around the world, who and where they are today can be largely attributed to significant individuals throughout history. Many of these individuals have had a positive impact on humankind and have played a crucial role in molding societies of today. Therefore, I feel that the most influential individuals in history are not the ones who have caused the most harm.

He also mentioned how this theory caused a profound impact on education and proposes a major transformation in the way our schools are run. It suggests the importance of training teachers to present their lessons in a wide variety of ways using music, cooperative learning, art activities, role play, multimedia, field trips, inner reflection, and much more.

When asked who was the most influential person in my life without any hesitation I knew it was my father. My father has impacted my life greatly and has helped me become the person I am today. He has helped me in many ways; he pushes me to be the best, he is always there for me, and he possesses good qualities that I try to obtain.

In order to help Ricardo in school, teachers should see where Ricardo stands developmentally and where he is in his learning. The Developmental Theories that will help Ricardo grow in his Personal Development is his sense of self. Through the concept of Cultural and Group Differences, cultural diversity is a factor that teachers can use to improve his development. Through Learning Theories like the Social Cognitive Theory and Motivation, teachers can look at self-regulated learning and self-determination Ricardo has. In order to apply these developmental and learning theories, teachers must look at instructional strategies that support Ricardo and his learning. The first strategy is promoting self-regulated learning and looking at the factors that influence his sense of self. Secondly, teachers should enhance a sense of self-determination, and finally, teachers should enhance Ricardo’s sense of relatedness because that is what is helping him strive in areas like music and math.

Amongst the many topics debated in education circles, it is easy to forget the choice of what we teach and why is of paramount importance. Critical reflection on the relevance of educational philosophers, both past and present, is essential to understanding curriculum choices. With regard to these statements, I wish to apply to this program as a result of a strong professional and personal interest in philosophers of education. More specifically, gaining a deeper understanding of behavioral and functional psychology in education can enhance my current work in many ways. The theories of philosopher’s such as William James have direct implications in my work. For example, by considering the role of acquisition and association of ideas in teaching and learning, I would be broadening my overall knowledge. Additionally, understanding the impact of interest, attention and memory on learning are key components that would enhance my teaching abilities and benefit my students.

Teachers’ beliefs influenced different tasks such as: selecting and presenting learning activities, preparing students for new language and checking their understanding, monitoring students’ learning, giving feedback, among others (Richards & Lockhart, 1994). I agree completely with this perception, because it is something that I have noticed since this course started: in the videos of my classmates, in the classes of my teachers, and in my own classes.
