Besides the usefulness of data used in sports as in the movie, Moneyball, and the Apple example I gave, data are also used in government planning(where resources should be allocated). One example, found locally is Fulton County. Fulton County should be divided into two counties since the North Fulton county ( cities including Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton) contributes over 50% of the taxes for its county. Most of the tax dollars flow into the poverty-stricken neighborhoods of Bankhead, Atlanta, College Park, East Point, and other South Fulton cities. There is already an invisible line of divisions with the school system of the two. Although Johns Creek and Atlanta are both in the same county, they have different school system that has a 12 mile distance separating the two cities. It is unfair that North Fulton residents have to foot the bill for the unemployment government agency, medicare, education expense, and other government related expenses in South Fulton. Politically speaking, North Fulton residents tend to vote for the Republican party while South Fulton tends to stick with the Democratic party. Demographically, North Fulton is predominantly composed of White Americans followed second by Asian Americans while in South Fulton, we mainly see African and Latino Americans. In terms of income, North Fulton household income is about 2 to 3 times …show more content…

Movie such as Zyzzyx Road, which has a box office sale of $30 dollar won't be seeing any successor anytime soon. In terms of funding NGOs and poverty organizations, we see how HIV is globally distributed and where UNAIDS, aidsUnited, and WHO (World Health Organization) distribute its donations. Sweden and Japan both have low HIV rate, so NGOs will focus less on these countries. South Africa, where ( 20% of the total population have HIV/AIDs) will be a better country to pour its resources into such as offering free vaccination, HIV/AIDs awareness education, and HIV

The word ‘data’ in the quote is a metaphor for homework, and just like homework, the information being learned only impedes thought. From this observation, the inference made is that doing a bunch of homework isn't beneficial while doing leisure activities is beneficial. Homework in middle school isn't as beneficial as spending time with family, helping in the community, or having fun. Furthermore, homework proves to be unnecessary in terms of
As you recall, data is a collection of facts (numbers, text, even audio and video files) that is processed into usable information. Much like a spreadsheet, a database is a collection of such facts that you can then slice and dice in various ways to extract information or make decisions. However, the advantage and primary use of a database over a spreadsheet is its ability to handle a large volume of data and yet allow for quick access to the information that is desired.

This sort of decision making isn’t something new, it’s the technology aiding the decision making that is new. This has reduced the amount of time it takes in the decision making process and given the
