It began during the summer. There was an average height young lady, Noel. She was too afraid to show her true self; afraid that people will make fun of her. At this moment, her favorite thing to do was chatting with people because only on social media will she have the courage to show her true self. Like any average 16 year old, Noel longed for the perfect guy. Ever since she was little; reading about true love, and hearing about true love. It gave her hope that one day she’ll find someone just like the gentlemen in the books. Of course, she knew, “fairy tales” at the age of sixteen? Pretty foolish. Yet, as she matured, Noel finally realized she’d never find that “perfect guy” at her age.
Then, one day, Noel met the guy. His name was Austin. He was the sweetest, handsomest guy. After talking to him for a while, she learned he went to the same school as her; furthermore, she knew he was different from others that she tried to get to know. Austin acted like a “prince charming” figure. Noel would get online every day and talk to him until one day he asked for her phone number. He said, “It would be easier for us to communicate.” She quickly gave him her number, and he signed off, “Goodnight sweet girl. Talk to you in the morning.” The next morning was the happiest day of her life. Austin texted Noel saying she should get online because he has something that he wanted to tell her. And at the speed of light, she rapidly got online. He inquired; a question she’s been waiting for.

The moment that Cinderella walked into our lives, everything changed–for the worst. I fell in love with a man who was always very kind and caring. He told me how he faced a huge tragedy when his wife died and he was left to be the sole provider for his daughter. I, of course, understood the pain he was in because my husband left us and I was alone with my two daughters. We didn’t have anything for a long time, but after working very hard in a bakery, I was able to afford a humble abode with two rooms for my girls and I. After having known and loved Lord Tremaine, we got married just six months into our relationship. He would always bring his horse to visit my girls and would tell them that he was so excited to be their father if they allowed him; my daughter loved him as if he was their own dad. I was unlucky, and never got to meet Cinderella because she was either too busy to come meet us, or I was working and we just couldn't meet each other before the wedding. How I wish I would have met her before; our lives wouldn’t have been this miserable if I hadn’t.
The story goes on to relay the thoughts of the narrator in those few moments when he was looking at the perfect girl. He wished he could talk to her, but he didn’t know how to approach her. He wished he could ask her out, but he was rendered speechless. “…explain to her the complexities of fate that have led to our passing each other on a side street…” (15). It was fate that they should meet and realize that they are perfect for each other. But how should he start up a conversation with her? The narrator thinks of various ways to approach her, but none seem like the perfect way to convey what he is feeling, so he rejects each thought. Then he considers just telling her the truth that she is the perfect girl for him, but he is unable to gather the courage for fear of rejection. “No, she wouldn’t believe it. Or even if she did, she might not want to talk to
I felt a tad bit uncomfortable as I read more about Miss Noi’s character and the lifestyle she was living in. Coming from a female’s perspective, I felt angry at the fact that Miss Noi seemed to pity men who felt that she should know her worth she states, “I know that kind of man. They can be very sweet sometimes.” She says this almost as if she is not concerned about her reputation and self-image. In addition to feeling angry at her lack of self worth, I felt that Miss Noi was not given proper guidance on how to prosper in America which made me reflect on the many immigrants who face a tough transition when departing from their home of origin into a completely new environment. Like many immigrants, Miss Noi had to make a living and since what she knew to do best was stripping at bars/clubs, this is what became of her in America too. The name of the story “Fairy Tale” mislead me into thinking it would be a typical love story but I was pleased to find out that even though this is not a traditional fairy tale, it still has aspects that most love stories have. Miss Noi is disappointed at her first attempt at love but is then given the opportunity at love again when Mr. Fontenot makes her feel beautiful; this made me feel inspired since Miss Noi was not looking to be in a relationship. Overall, it was clear that Miss Noi was able to apply the phrase “the sunburnt duck is lying down” on behalf of her new love interest and
The theme of the story is about love, attraction and responding to obstacles in the course of love. It is true that the course of true love does not run smoothly and this strikes at the heart chords of all who reads it.
As a little kid, fairy tales were my favorite types of stories and movies. Stories that ended with a “happily ever after” always made me very happy. On the other hand, they have come to make me very upset, because most of the time they gave me unrealistic expectations for life at such a young age. In “Ashputtle” and “Cupid and Psyche” like many short stories, is a fairy tale that the end will reward good and punish evil in different ways.

Cinderella is a fairy tale that has been around for a long time. Having made it through generations with Disney’s help, it became a prominent figure in literature, inspiring authors to follow in the story’s footsteps. Alice Munro’s Hateship, Friendship, Loveship, Courtship, Marriage is one of those stories. As a result, the motifs found in Cinderella are also easily found in Alice Munro’s short story. By taking using similar motifs as used in the story Cinderella, Alice Munro implemented the theme of luck in the story, which can also be found in the fairy tale. Throughout the narrative, the theme is proven using various motifs; the persecuted heroine, a magical helper, meeting and marrying the prince, the proof of identity and the moral of

I consult my second diary (the first one got lost) and carefully fold back the pages. Amongst the enthuse rants on crushes and what they did that day, I find a little girl in awe of the world around her. October 10 entry reads: The leaves are changing colors and Dad says they are dying. I like this because it’s like their final show for us before they leave the world for something else. And May 25: If I were a flower, I want to be one a man gives to his lover. I start to worry that I would’ve disappointed myself in the past. The pile of cynicism I’ve gained over the years agrees with this notion. I decide to give this venture a little break and go back to world of adulthood. Tomorrow, I have a six-hour shift and more hours of neglected homework to
Keen was watching Shaylin standing high on the cliff overlooking the ocean, she was magnificent with the gentle breeze blowing her auburn hair back from her face. The starry night sky and the ocean waves made her look picturesque. He loved her so much, and now he was worried how she would feel if it turned out she really wasn’t his Mate. He couldn’t help but notice that Shaylin had a frown on her face. He walked over to her and placed his arm around her shoulder. “What’s wrong?” Shaylin glanced up at him. “I hope your mother is right, and after you met your Mate you still love me.” Keen pulled her into a hug and whispered. “In my heart you will always be my first Mate, don’t ever forget that. Even if it turns out that you’re not my Mate I will
She was hoping to see that cute tall guy again, but she did not see him. When she decides to walk around the Millennium Park, she bumps into someone. At first she didn’t notice the guy that bumped into her was the same one that smiled at her. But when she saw him carefully she then noticed it was the same handsome guy she had seen. In his free time he likes to run around the park and exercise at the gym. When Stephanie got to her house Brandon gave his phone number to her so they can keep in touch with each
If one were to be asked about the backbone of fairy tales, an answer would likely include true love. Regardless of the origin, tales from across the world reflect instances of enamorment and devotion, with most providing numerous examples of the bond between family and the lust shared by lovers. In many cases, endearment is the driving force for the actions of protagonists: princes search for their one true love, brothers protect their sisters, and parents dote on their children. While “The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood” aims to support the idea that love and passion are everlasting, it instead imparts the idea that love is a variable entity and not always as transparent as it seems.
It’s safe to say, meeting him under the moonlight beside the water, was the ideal way for me to meet the man who would ruin my life. Ariel, found me writing like a mad man beside a small creek that divided our campuses. He offered me lunch and I quickly refused. Much like most men, Ariel was self absorbed and had a raging superiority complex. He was the type of man who believed he could spark a flame in my heart and whisk me away into the depths of his soft, weak, yet beautiful heart. The poor man was determined to make me fall in love. Unfortunately for him, I do not believe in love. I never have, and I never will.
