Consideration is the relationship behaviour between leaders and employees such as trust and respect. According to the findings from Limsila & Ogunlana, initiating structure of leadership style would have a greater acceptance and job satisfaction in Asian firms. And, consideration of leadership style would have a greater acceptance and job satisfaction in western firms.
Directive leadership is based on initiating structure of leadership behaviour. It is a type of leadership style which provides employees to know what they are expected to do and how precisely the expectation of them. According to the findings from Limsila & Ogunlana, a directive leader is ‘focus mainly on the physical and the security needs of subordinates.’ This type of leader is suitable when the employee is new and ambiguous with his/her job. Leader will provide appropriate and clear instructions, ideas, scheduling work, specific advice and standard rules and regulations to the employees for achieving the organisational goal unambiguously.
