The meaning of leadership can vary depending on the person but to me leadership is the way a person, or group, leads a group of people in a task. Everyone has their own form of leadership but I personally prefer to lead by example as well as consult with the group before I make a decision. I feel that with this form of leadership I will never be asking someone to do something that I wouldn’t do myself, and it allows for members to become involved in the decision making.

Leadership can have several interpretations due to the fact that it so common in everyday life. Leadership is something that the average person experiences on a daily basis. As Laozi once said, “A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.” Leadership to me, is always doing the right thing for people even if the people cannot identify what is right; leadership should make others feel as if they have accomplished something. My definition of leadership is “the ability someone has to motivate and empower others to achieve a goal.” Some may add to this definition, others may discard it altogether and have a completely different definition. In the end, leadership takes on many different forms depending on who is doing the defining and we end up asking ourselves, what is leadership and why do we care?
