Liberty Nursing Center is a profit-oriented corporation nursing center which is one of the 17 communities, owned and managed by ‘Liberty Health Care Corporation’. The mission of LNC is ‘Enriching lives, promoting good health and serving with compassion’. The mission statement therefore aims to build a real community to enrich the lives of residents, dedicated to meeting the personal needs of all the residents to promote good health and to achieve the highest level of independence and wellness forming a compassionate bond. The mission statement has been revised few years back in order to have clear direction for the organization. In-line to the mission, apart from other nursing homes, LNC ensures to re-create homelike ambience for the residents. The residents feel valued as they are listened to; which, thereby has helped in making sure the services provided become better, ultimately improving the wellbeing of the residents. The organization encompasses all stakeholders while making strategic plans. It organizes meeting with residents and their family/relatives in order to obtain view from the eye of service receiver. LNC also conducts regular meeting with all the departments in order to find holistic solution for each individual residents, thereby maximizing their wellbeing. In collaboration with everyone in the care team the patient is a unique person with unique needs who from one stage to another, meaning from the hospital to rehab, from rehab to home and to the community. Care for everyone in the same fashion each time without limitation. The continuum of care framework focuses on integrating the services provided to the client, rather than on the integration of service organizations.
Fit Adult Care Home LLC is a residential care home located in the beautiful city of Gresham, Oregon, which is Multnomah County. Our historic community is the fourth largest in the state with wonderful restaurants and shops. Gresham is a wonderful place to live with lots of events and activities for family and friends to enjoy when visiting.
For this activity, I attended a Health Care City Council Meeting hosted by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, on September 5, 2014, located on 350 S. Bixel St., Los Angeles, CA 90017. The duty of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce defends economic opulence and quality of life for the Los Angeles region by being the voice for business, encouraging teamwork and aiding members grow (Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, 2007). Their goal is to help improve the business climate and quality of life in a community, usually by advocating, networking with others, and by developing business programs. The L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation was first established in 1970 to carry out the charitable and education objectives of the L.A. Area Chamber. They have been the leaders of business for over 125 years. They put their efforts by building connections that will later help improve education and overall quality of life and welfare for the citizens of Southern California (Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, 2007).

Dayspring Center is a nonprofit organization that serves homeless families and helps them become independent. The mission of the center is “helping homeless families find their way home” (Casson, 2015). To achieve this mission they try to lovingly meet the needs of homeless families by meeting these families where they are without judgement and by addressing what brought the family to the center in the first place. The idea of Dayspring center originated from a group of volunteers who were inspired by an Episcopal priest. This priest offered pews for homeless people to sleep through the night. This led him to open an overnight shelter and soup kitchen in the local Episcopal Church. Dayspring Center officially opened in 1989 in a renovated building near downtown Indianapolis. Throughout the years the organization has grown into an agency that strives to prevent and combat homelessness. Their programs focus on immediate relief and then sustainability for the families that they work with. They effectively work to combat homelessness by focusing first on the issues that cause families to become homeless.

For this assignment I chose the Health Care topic because I currently work for a nonprofit health care clinic. I have been with the clinic for only two years, but I have seen things happening to McDonaldize healthcare in that short time period. I personally witnessed in the late 1990s the types of changes Ritzer discusses in his book.
Since the hospital is a community based acute care hospital, there are numerous subunits. Under the president of Hospital AB and Health Center, the total organization is divided into seven major units which are controlled by seven senior vice presidents. Each unit under the senior vice president is further subdivided into sub units according to the services being provided. The hospital has a distinct subunit configuration for the nursing departments. Each unit is under either a vice president or a director. The major subunits are perioperative services, nursing practice and education, behavior health services, heart center, out patient women services and perinatal clinic, inpatient women services and pharmacy. Each of these major subunits is further subdivided based on the services being provided. The senior vice president for all these units also oversees the programs for patient safety, patient satisfaction and joint commission accreditation. The departments of imaging services, rehabilitation services, cancer center, breast center and quality management comes under another senior vice president (unknown author, 2005).
