The creators of the movie “Batman Begins” use literary devices such as flashbacks, archetypes, motif and character development to convey the theme that if one is willing to try hard enough to make a change in the world or in themselves it is possible. Through the beginning of “Batman Begins”, the creators of the movie used flashbacks to detail the journey of Bruce Wayne and how he has changed from the beginning of the movie to the end. By showing the flashback of Bruce Wayne in the car with Rachel, the creator of the movie managed to show the audience where Bruce Wayne stood on a moral level and how he was the complete opposite of what he came to be as the movie progressed. In the car scene, Rachel tells Bruce that his father would be ashamed of him for considering murder as a form of justice and a way to make a change. The use of flashback also played a role in how Bruce overcame his fear of bats and managed to make it into a symbol. …show more content…

The use of fire symbolized rebirth in three scenes from the movie. The scene where Bruce burnt down the house of Ra’s al Ghul symbolized the rebirth of Bruce from being someone who had nothing to stand for to someone that wanted to make a change in the city of Gotham. In the scene where Bruce was lit on fire by Scarecrow, it symbolized rebirth once again by having Bruce become immune to the toxic gas that constantly fed on his fears causing him to become capable of using his fear as a form of empowerment.
