Diversity in the workplace refers to differences between people in an organization. It’s quite simple but complicated as diversity encompasses race, gender, ethnic group, experience and more. Educational diversity is a reflection of varying ideas, goals, and initiatives designed to create a positive learning environments for all students regardless of race. How can Merion Mercy Academy provide a safe, inclusive and diverse atmosphere when students aren’t taught about the minority accomplishments or successes? Program longevity isn’t the answer to success. In other words just because you’ve been doing that way doesn’t mean it’s effective.

Welcome to Medtrainer Understanding and Working with Diversity training – Chapter One. In this Chapter, we will discuss how embracing diversity benefits individuals and the organization. The word diversity is often interpreted as be different or unusual. The word diversity represents a large group comprised of different people with different experiences. These differences include race, color, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status or citizenship. However, “diversity” does not address how these different people function or work. Inclusion enables us to strive to have all people represented and make all members, partners and employees feel welcomed and valued, not only for their abilities, but also for their unique qualities and perspectives. The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique,
Legal Issues. Many major companies experience lawsuits from competitors, employees, and the community. These lawsuits have a direct affect on the way a company runs, or plans to run their organization. Halliburton is one of many companies experiencing these lawsuits on a very public stage costing the company billions of dollars. In 2006 charges had been brought against Halliburton and their former subsidiary Kellogg, Brown, and Root (KBR), for bribing Nigerian officials between 1994 – 2004 to secure four contracts for a KBR joint venture to build and expand Nigeria's Bonny Island liquefied natural gas terminal. In February of 2009 KBR pleaded guilty to violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Halliburton and KBR was ordered to pay $402 million in fine by the United States justice department. In a separate hearing Halliburton will pay $177 million after reaching an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission to pay criminal parallel charges for the violating the FCPA.
Organizations are responsible for the legal, ethical, and social issues that affect each stakeholder within the company. These factors continually impact the planning process performed at each level of management. An organization that neglects to establish and monitor plans can become disorganized and ultimately lose control of practices performed throughout the corporation. A prime example of poor planning due to disregard of legal, ethical, and social issues were the executives employed at WorldCom.

My Self-Management plan was extremely useful to me, and continues to assist me in forecasting the various assessments I have due. It proved to be a framework of time I could dedicate to all aspects of my life – not just my university life. It acted as a guideline rather than a strict schedule, but the initial flexibility I included in the plan eventuated to be vital. There were multiple scenarios where I had to push back my allotted homework and study periods to complete assessments, or meet up with groups for projects. Specific adjustments were made when there was an extension given for the Foundations of Law Problem Question due to the inundation of work the students were experiencing with the Ethics Essay due the week before. This allowed for a needed break on the weekend of the 14th of May. Although I allowed for time each week completing assessments, I found it was not adequate enough and I began compromising my allotted homework time. I had higher aspirations for my learning goals in both Ethics and Foundations to maintain satisfaction, but my focus on assessments affected my ability to complete all questions for all seminars each week.
