My Career Goals For My Academic Performance

An experience in a biomedical research will help me to succeed in my long-term educational goals. My long-term goal is to attend a MD-PHD program at a Medical School. As a scientist, I would like to study the genetics of disease causing organisms and human genetics. Currently, I am studying Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, which I think will equip me with a knowledge of human biochemistry. However, since undergraduate schools mainly focus on theoretical not the practical application of most subjects, I need to participate in a hands on research project over the summer because It will give me an opportunity to apply my knowledge in a laboratory. Going to college has been a dream of mine growing up. I am the first ever in my family to go to college but figuring out how to pay for it has been a challenge. I desire to achieve my academic and career goals and this scholarship can help me succeed in my journey.

As a prospective Biology major and Veterinarian, I hope to gain experience working with plants and animals in the field of Biology and consider internships with veterinarians. I plan to put my experience and qualifications to use by applying for an accredited veterinary college. Upon acceptance, I will strive towards earning a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM). Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime. This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager, determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not feel that any adjustments need to be made.

I am originally from Shreveport Louisiana, my family moved to Texas in my late teens and lived in Longview until enlisting into the United States Marine Corps as a Flight Mechanic on the KC-130T. Continuing Academic Success remain beneficial to my life by reason of I hunger a better paying job to provide for my family and I realize studying strong and working hard will secure success in school and in life. From the time I was able to realize what college was, all my mother and father talked about was scholarships and how much they would benefit me. My mother would often sign me up for SAT and ACT prep classes, but I never truly took full advantage of it. As I grew older the word “Scholarship” had a greater meaning. A scholarship would mean me getting to go to the college of my dreams, being surrounded by people with the same goals as me, it also means being able to lift a burden off my parent’s shoulders.

As a student in the GHS band program, success and putting my best efforts in everything I do is what I strive for everyday. Whether it be in the band hall working on all region audition music, leading my section to excellence, or in the classroom working to understand and attain material, I always put my best foot forward in trying to be the best I can be.

My personal goal as many of other students is to complete my BSN and after to advance my education in Leadership and Management. My professional goal is to improve my knowledge and critical thinking as an employee of the health care, and learn more management and leadership skills that I can use in my current position. My immediate education goals would include: making all A’s this semester, learning as much as I can from my classes, pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and graduating with honors, obtaining my Bachelor's in Science of Nursing with a minor in psychology. As some children grow, they may find themselves in the presence of an educator more than their biological parents. For these students, the relationship they forge with their educators are fundamental and invaluable. It is because of this relationship that students forge with an educator, or lack thereof in some circumstances, that students make the decision to enter the education profession as a “teacher”. The majority of individuals who enter this profession, do so with the mindset of creating bonds with students and preparing them for life. I, myself, wish to enter the education profession. Through a lot of soul searching, and self realization, I have decided to pursue a degree in communications, and women’s studies. I’ve always had a natural ability to connect with people on personal, and professional levels. Working with people of all different ages, genders, communication abilities, and cultural backgrounds has guided me towards an educational path I feel that I will flourish in. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up with strong women in my life that have passed so many life skills to me. My educational and career goals are to major in either psychology or sociology. My plan is to get my master’s degree and begin working as a high school counselor where I will be able to help teenagers who are struggling and help them make the best decisions. I have decided to take this path because there are many students who aren’t aware of the opportunities that they have. Besides checking to see if students are on track for graduation, counselors should let students know about opportunities that will help students in their future like financial aid, exploring college majors, or other helpful resources.
