My Experience At The University Of California Essay

The Ultimate HBCU Experience  My colleges and I are well prepared for this scholastic year. We were able to attend the Tailor Made Retreat this past weekend and it was amazing I've learned in 3 days what some people may never learn in a lifetime and for that I'm grateful  Thanks for this wonderful experience, exposure and most importantly growth. We were challenge to accomplish a lot and with the great team work we were able to complete each and every task. Although, it was very competitive lol we still had fun and most importantly we're able to do what we came theie to do. Which was to become better leaders and servants.

I decided to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University because I wanted a HBCU experience. For most my life, I was surrounded by diversity. The schools I attended had a healthy balance of students from all races. Even though that was good I wanted a change of environment. Throughout high school I was taught the bare minimum of black history. Each year, the great deeds of Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, and Rosa Parks were drilled into my head. When I toured A&T they provided me with information on black history that I was not even aware of. After the tour, I made my decision to attend A&T and gain more knowledge. When I came to college the biggest challenge I faced was time management.

The State of Texas agreed to create a college under the terms of the morrill act in November 1866, but actual formation didn’t come until the establishment of the Agricultural and mechanical College of Texas by the state legislature on April 17, 1871. A commission created to locate the institution accepted the offer of 2,416 acres of land from the citizens of Brazos County

Beginning my career at Western Carolina University, I had no idea the impact writing has on future educators. It is extremely important to have an effective writing strategy in all aspects of teaching. You will be required to write lesson plans, referrals, and letters home to the parents. Each of these have different strategies, and all of these are used simultaneously throughout the school year. Throughout the essay I will explain how to do each of these writings, and also give step by step instructions on an effective way to make sure it is done correctly.

East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a public, coeducational institution situated in Northeast Tennessee. It is one of the campuses that is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Its main campus is in Johnson City, with other centers in Kingsport, Elizabethton and Bristol. It was founded in 1911 with the name East Tennessee Normal School, aimed at educating their graduates to become teachers. The institution received university status in 1963 with accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (ETSU, 2016).

A&M is the state's first open foundation of advanced education. Part of the reason this class is so important for students to take is so that we can take the outlook of others and allow it to possibly change the views that we have on certain topics. Topics such as culture, race and ethnicity, gender stratification, and education are a part of our daily life, but we get in such a rut of living day to day life without taking in the opinion and outlook of others that we don’t know what we truly feel because we are only one sided. By learning these different ideas and beliefs, we may not feel the way

The realization that I was unequivocally now a graduate student occured to me when I was sitting across from the counselor that I was interviewing for this project. The feelings I experienced beforehand were both excitement and anxiety. I felt nervous about being a guest at a high school and interviewing a seasoned counselor. However, I was thrilled about learning from a veteran in the field and having the freedom to ask the questions that I wanted to know.

At the beginning of the semester, I knew very little about sociology or even what it was about. I just knew I needed to take the class for my degree plan to transfer to a four-year university and that I would be doing a lot of reading about different terms and theories of society. However, this first month of class has helped me improve my understanding of what sociology is about and shown me how my personal society has impacted the way I view society. Not only did I learn about the relationships between society and myself, but I have also learned different concepts that have helped me gain a better understanding of how society works. This course like my entire first semester of university have provided me with both many challenges as well as taught me many lessons not only for my university career, but for the rest of my life. As I reflect back on the semester, I recall telling myself at least once a week that I wanted to drop out of school, followed by many breakdowns, crying fits and calling defeat. The past few months, haven’t been at all easy for me, I have thought many times I wasn’t intelligent enough to be in university, I was disappointed with some of the grades I received and I was constantly engulfed in a swarm of stress. Despite all these tough times, I have had many good one’s as well, I have made new friends which are now integral to my everyday life and I have enhanced my knowledge to a new degree. Some of the many lessons that I’ve already learned in my short university experience include how to manage my time, the importance of meeting deadlines as well as the continuous struggle of balancing the various different facets of life.

Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be “the best experience of your life.” The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn’t fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of

American society values higher education. College provides many opportunities for developing a variety of social networks, both formal and informal. Obtaining a college degree will be such a valuable and
