# Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university. Being the grand-daughter of an officer in Hong Kong Customs and Excise department, listen to my grandmother 's anecdotes about her work has been a big part of my childhood memories. My interests in sociology developed over the course of interaction with my grand-mother. I observed her successes as an officer in the Customs and Excise department, from her social awareness, passions and, experiences. My academic and real-world experiences have built and pushed my interest to study sociology more in-depth. And I wanted to pursue an education in sociology and diversity in a university of California. Within my courses, I have been encouraged to think independently developed awareness of society the society we’re currently living at. Recently, Hong Kong is going through political, social and economic changes caused by civil disobedience. Because of the civil disobedience, I wrote a research paper about the society of Hong Kong and tried to recognize the society I grew up with. Therefore, I understand that Sociology values social responsibility because every aspect in sociology is indispensable to our world. I am resolute in becoming a leader who can serve in the government in order that helps to organize a better society. Since I was little, I have a habit of reading the newspaper.
