My Family : My Definition Of Family

My definition of family would be those people who you can count on for love, support, and nurturing. Family always has your back in any situation and always lends a listening ear or helping hand when you need them. In my opinion, you do not have to have a consanguineous relationship, which is a blood relationship with someone for them to be considered family. That family that I was born into consists of my parents and my grandparents. My family of origin can be considered an extended family because it consists of both my parents and their in-laws. My father played a role in my childhood, but growing up he wasn’t around much. However, my mother and grandparents played a key role in my adolescence and adulthood. From a young girl, my mom always provided me with the necessary nurturing, support, and love. She never let the fact that she was a single mother effect the way she cared for me. There was never a time when I was not able to go to her about something because she was always there to listen. As a got into my adolescence stage, she provided me with the proper guidance to become a successful-hardworking woman. My grandmother also provided me with this guidance and always instilled the proper values in me. She made sure that I knew to be a respectful young lady, how to carry myself, and how to deal with any situation that came my way. She was also always a phone call away when I needed anything.
