My Hometown

My hometown Bergenfield, New Jersey is like many cities in the north. Bergenfield is full of rich history and great food for visitors to partake in. The growth of Bergenfield began slow with small residents and then later started to form its own with the help of the state of New Jersey and New York helping to build the George Washington Bridge. When Bergenfield was discovered on June 25, 1894 by a railroad company the city was laid out as Bergen Fields stamped on the tickets.

Our Town by Thornton Wilder continues to be a timeless theatrical work performed pervasively throughout the world. This play remains a modern classic due to Wilder’s ingenuity in capturing the quintessential expression of the life cycle. Wilder segmented his play into three acts; each act broadly encompassing a different phase in a person’s life. The play presents the audience with situations parallel to the ones almost everyone faces during their lifetime. This, in conjunction with breaking the fourth wall, allows for the audience to feel a part of the performance. The title of the play itself lends to this feeling, for it is not my town or your town, but it’s Our Town. This play emphasizes the idea that in the grand scheme of things, all

My hometown is Atlanta Georgia. I was born in Atlanta Georgia and I am grateful to have been able to have grown up in here. Atlanta is a very important city in Georgia because it is the capital city of the State and it is the most populated. The city was first named after Governor Lumpkins young daughter in 1837 named "Marthasville", but was changed by the chief engineer of the Georgia Railroad to "Atlanta". Right now I am living in my hometown and I wish to live here for the rest of my life.

The story is set in a remote community named Wirrawee in a 21 century context. This is stated through out the book. “Lee lived in town, like Fi. "Lee and Fi, from Wirrawee" we used to sing.”(Ch 1. P15) This Town is rural and right next to a formidable mountain range. The author describes the town and its surroundings with in the book with: “Way in the distance you got glimpses of the rich farmland of the Wirrawee district, dotted with houses and clumps of trees, the lazy Wirrawee river curving slowly through it. And on the other side was Hell” (Ch 2. P19) Wirrawee is a country town with many farms surrounding it. It is a small tight night community who live directly next to a large mountain range which is quite mysterious and majestic. The

Harlem, New York in the Twenties was a place where colored people had migrated to show their talents. It was a time when African American Artist, Writers, Dancers, Musicians, and Doctors decided to show the world how spectacular they were. Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Langston Hughes were just a few famous names that arrived during this time. One sensational woman stood out among the rest, her name was Josephine Baker. She took a stand and fought for what she believed in, she was a strong and passionate women and she never let anyone get in the way of the things she loved to do. No matter how risqué or dangerous it may have been.

The issue with the re-developing of New Orleans is an area that has been debated between governors, investors, urban planners, residents and other professionals since hurricane Katrina, the costliest “natural” disaster in 2005. This wonderful place, is a Louisiana city near the Gulf of Mexico. Its strategic position, becomes the exit of the great Mississippi-Missouri river system, which drains the interior North of America. New Orleans is one of the lowest spots in the United States, it is already as much as 17 feet below sea level in some places, and it continues to sink more than an inch a year. Re-developing New Orleans will be a difficult aspect because of its location, topography and weather conditions. However, New Orleans is one of the most culturally rich urban

Oakland, California. A place where people call it home or a war zone. In the case of many teenagers, Oakland was their destruction. Based on my reading, The Labeling Theory will best suit with this book simply because many teens from this volume were said to be someone they weren’t. In case you don’t know about this theory, the focus of it is not on the behavior of a person but on how others view that behavior or the person itself. According to the book “Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys”, all the teens experienced being misread as horrific people based on their shade of skin color. Salinas, similar to Chang’an, is in an area that benefits its inhabitants in many ways, including rivers that contributes to the surplus of agriculture and the numerous cultures that are drawn to it. In Chang’an, the ancient capital of China, agriculture was plentiful because of the Wei river. Similarly, Salinas is supported by plentiful water sources, mainly the runoff from the Sierra Nevadas and the numerous underground basins. These boundless water sources contribute to the explosion of agriculture that comes from Salinas, including 70% of the nation’s lettuce and 2 of the largest orchards in the United States. You and your family are peasant farmers, and considered second class in China’s social levels. People treat you and your family with respect because you plant food for them to eat, a necessity for life. People are very thankful for people like you.

Aristotelian and Modern Elements of Tragedy in Our Town In the story of Our Town by Thornton Wilder the protagonist Emily Webb lives the most ordinary type of life known to man. She born and raised in the consistent monotonous town of Grover's Corner. Emily married her neighbor, George Gibbs, has children, than in inevitably passes away. In the play Emily never takes a single moment to look around and appreciate the life she and is always in a never ending rush to complete the next necessary milestone in her life.

The urban concept of living is somewhat different from the rural areas, the ideas of living inspired by the western culture, especially for the middle class society. Lakou are also seen in rural parts of the city where there are concentration of shanty’s.

It is no doubt about it that everyone has somewhere that they have adapted to long enough to call it there home! A place they can relax and really be their selves, for some it may have been their grandparents house, aunties house or wherever they felt comfortable. Well I of course felt comfortable in my own home, a four bedroom house on the west side of North Miami. My home in Miami was perfect I had my own room, I was very comfortable there, and it was a place to get away from the world.

Linyi is my hometown, and I am deeply in love with my hometown. Linyi is a beautiful place. There are flowers, grass, mountain, water, fresh air. The people here are sincere, hardworking, simple and kind. Always working for the city and work hard. Linyi is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, which is the largest and most populous city in Shandong Province. It is located in the southeast of Shandong Province, near the Yellow Sea, east of sunshine, west Zaozhuang, Jining, Tai 'an, north Zibo, Weifang, south of Jiangsu. Prefecture-level Linyi City jurisdiction Lanshan, Luo Zhuang, Hedong 3 District and Tancheng, Lanling, Junan, Yishui, Yinan, Pingyi, Fei County, Mengyin, Linshu 9 counties. My family in Yishui county.
