The definition of Sociology is the study of human societies through the synthesis of theoretical analysis and controlled research, focusing on the social patterns and the different factors that influence humans. I was born in a small town with roughly five hundred people in it; Terrero Negro the most beautiful town in Honduras is where I grew up for the majority of my childhood. Sadly do a corrupt government the majority of the population lives in poverty, however that does not stop anyone from always offering you a cup of coffee or any type of beverage when you arrive at their house. This is one of the most important norms, thus from a young age everyone is taught to be courteous and make your guest feel at home by offering them a beverage. …show more content…
From the first day of December you can notice the Christmas spirit in everyone's face. In my grandma's house me and my older brother had to go to a near forest to cut a pine tree and afterwards we had to check every single light to make sure to only put the ones that work. The most marvelous feelings is walking inside your house and smelling all the food being cooked and the smell of a fresh cut pine tree.Furthermore everyone house is full of food and consequently there are children running around the streets having a blast. In the other hand christmas in the united states is very depressing for someone like me, because do do all the abundance and ways to get whatever you desire there is no longer a sensation or the impulsive to share with your neighborhoods the joy of that marvelous moment. This is a perfect example of how difference in income can have a totally different effect on entire community. Where i lived the feeling of a community coming together and putting aside their differences is like a forest full of green trees filled with live. However if you celebrate this day in a different places with none of your family instead of that joy it's depressing and there is no longer the two months of desperately waiting for the that day to
There are between 200,000 and 500,000 members of gypsy groups living in all regions of the United States. Most of these members of the gypsy communities would be known as the Romani (Roma). Romani people originally come from India and migrated first to Europe, later throughout the United states, and now they are all across the world. The people of the Gypsy culture are not known as healthy. About 85% smoke and 85% are obese. Their average life expectancy is only about 48 to 55 years of age.
Before the United States was colonized, people groups that are collectively known as Native Americans inhabited the majority of the country. Beginning in 1492, a new age of exploration had begun an era of cultural exchange across the globe, and European countries began establishing colonies in the Americas. European royals sent men to their colonies not only to claim the land, but also to procure wealth, through trade, resources, and precious treasures such as gold and silver. As the Europeans conquered the New World, they interacted often with the Native Americans, using them to survive, and navigate the territory. When the colonies were first established, the few travellers that were able to survive the trans-Atlantic voyage usually died
When the Europeans made their first conquests of the Americas, they were greeted with a whole new environment of flora, fauna, people, and cultures. Likewise, the Native Americans were introduced to a people that in many ways were vastly different from themselves who brought with them new ideas, diseases, and technologies. Their interactions within the Americas would change both their own lives and cultures as well as the very environments they lived in. Indeed, European contact with Native Americans introduced the Europeans to a new world while creating a new world for the Native Americans. Their interactions would develop through the social and environmental developments of the Columbian Exchange, slavery, and Christianity.
Over centuries from when the first Europeans arrived to the Americas, the Native American populations have drastically decreased. The diminishing population of Native Americans is a crucial warning that the culture will potentially go extinct. However, many individuals have taken efforts to preserve their traditions and keep them alive during the future generations. Here are some inspiring Native American women who strive to maintain their native language and culture in this rapid era of digital reliance and social media.
Throughout history, relationships between the Native Americans and the United States have been nothing but battle torn, and unfortunately have followed a consistent path of betrayal. There is no denying the universal fact that Native Americans have been unfairly treated and portrayed throughout American history. According to American history written during and after the war the Indian Wars that occurred were very subjective, and prejudiced in its depiction of the Native Americans. For example one work, The Pioneer History of America (1883), is titled, "A popular account of Heroes and Adventurers who, by their valor and war-craft, beat back the savages from the borders of civilization and gave the American forests to the plow and the sickle."
I did not know anything about this part of the US history either and it is interesting how all these things happen to the American Indians back then. It still haves a big impact in today’s society They are still fighting for their rights, fighting for land that is sacred for them. There is a lot of money saved on that federal account but like you said each one would get about ten thousand which is nothing compared to what the land is worth to them.
Native Americans do not experience enough social, political, and economic equality today because their stereotypes are portrayed in media, they do not have enough government representation, and they are not as well off as most Americans.
As far as America’s existence dates, we as Americans have been taught to believe that when Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, that although the land was preoccupied with Native Americans, that Europeans were indeed the first Americans. That has since then been refuted, now most modern day Americans have been taught to believe that the Native Americans were the indigenous American people. Although, it has been proven that Native Americans occupied the lands of the Americas before Christopher Columbus left Europe, Columbus is still praised for “discovering” America. New evidence now shows that long before the nomadic hunter gathers of northeast Asia traveled across the land bridge 12,000 years ago, and before Christopher Columbus
The Europeans and the Native Americans arguably do not co-exist because different groups did not allow them to be their own tribes. The Europeans treated the Indians with as little respect as possible. The Indians were used to work including the women and children. The Christians changed how they were viewed by the Indians because they suffered from beatings and other tragedies among their tribes. The Native American tribes wanted peace within their groups although they were fighting with the Europeans and killings between the two cultures occurred. The Indians had people that were on their side and agreed with their views. Although the Indians where being used as slaves and treated poorly. The Native Americans and the English did not agree with each other, which resulted in the Indians land being taken away, being slaves, and the English making the Indians work for them.
In Chief Dan George’s essay, I am A Native of North America, he describes the differences between Native American lifestyle and White lifestyle. Native Americans very deeply care about nature all of their beliefs are surrounding nature. Whether they worshiped the sun, the sky, and the moon. Or maybe they worshiped the grass, the water, and the animals. There are differences. The indigenous lived communally in large tribes were everyone knew everyone else. They shared, traded, and families lived together.

Sociology is the study of society and all its multi facet’s and components. It encompasses defining elements such as culture, economics, geographic, health, education, gender and sexuality, environment and family. Sociology looks at the way humans function within society and their own smaller groupings. If similar issues are occurring for more than one person within a community, it becomes a social issue rather than an individual issue. It looks at the diversity in behaviour and environment around different groups of people and looks for patterns and social issues that may influence outcomes to situations. People tend to fit into social structure’s which can be defined as a class.
Sociology is the study of Society. Society is what we call a group of people who all share the same culture but different beliefs. People learn the culture they are born into by primary and secondary socialisation. Primary is what young children learn first from growing up with their family and the world they see. Secondary socialisation is learnt later from schools and media. However it is all maintained by social control.
