NEUROSURGEON Education and/or Training Required A Doctorate Degree Level and Medicine Degree Field. Seven years of a Neurosurgical Residency Program. Must pass a national exam and obtain a state license and become Board Certified. A year of chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics, english, and calculus or other advanced math classes. Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Exam. Responsibilities and Daily Activities Treating injuries, diseases and congenital disorders of the brain and spinal cord. Perform surgeries to treat and heal conditions, tumors, blood clots, and traumatic injuries, vascular disorders, infections, and degenerative diseases of the spine. Remaining calm and focused in life-or-death situations. Often required
