The creation story of the Ojibwa beginning with nothing but absorbing dark void because in the beginning there was nothing besides that. Nothing. Not until Manitou. Before him there was a possibility that everything that we know and also everything that we didn’t know could exist. Our human mind is not able to be capable of thinking such possibility. No person can imagine such unfathomable powers to envision such foresee of creation. It is unpassable for a human to image such a phenomenon thing and bring it all into existence, that’s why people believe in a high power then them. Some call it as God, Allah, Buddha etc. God’s are all (seemingly) super natural, imaginary some would say! and are a creation of humanity to bring a sense of hope.
The Narragansett tribe is a tribe of Native Americans who lived in the area which is now Rhode Island. They are well known for their interaction with Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island. The Narragansetts were also part of the historic, King Philip's War. A war in which the natives fought against the colonists to stop the colonists’ advance into America. Once upon a time there was a girl named Chilam she is 14 years old. She is Native American in the Comanche Tribe. Her mother gave her the name. It means snowbird. The reason why she gave her the name is because her hair is as white as a snowbird all around and it was unusual to most people. Her family is really big so that they need to use a really big teepee because that is what they used in the 1800,s. When Chilam was born her mom was holding her and all of a sudden her eyes turned as blue as the baby blue sky. Only her mom saw she had no idea what to do but to just keep it a secret. One day when Chilam was three her mom finally wanted to find out why her eyes glowed blue. So she left Chilam in the teepee with the rest of the family so they can watch her.

When they had all the cattle about 1,200 they head out on a long trip. The cattle drive was going as planned getting about 10-15 miles a day to get to a farm where they would get money for bringing the cattle. But two days in too the cattle drive there was a storm that started just with rain but started getting worse. It was so bad that the lighting and thunder made the cattle turn into a stamped. The cowboys tried to calm the cattle and keep them in a group it just wasn't working. When the storm was over they noticed that they had been missing 50 cows this was the worse thing they could ever encounter on the drive. So before going any further the 5 cowboys split up why one stays to watch the cattle. The four cowboys all came back that night with just 34 of the cows. The cowboys head on trying to find the cows again and still found nothing but in the distance there was a cliff leading to a valley. When they arrived to the valley to see where the cows were they saw nothing but 3 dead cows on the ground of that valley. When they went on there way again they saw nothing but flat land and the rest of their cattle this made the cowboys really happy that they could still get most of their cattle drive there safely. When they got to the farm the farmer gave them their money were they split between the 5 of them. Then they go to back home to see there children
The Ojibwe tribe, who believed spirit animals guide their way through life, had a very interesting history, geography, culture, and have a surprising current status. Getting along with traders in their history wasn’t always easy in the Ojibwe history. The culture of the Ojibwe is not like many tribes in the area their way of life is different because most of the Ojibwe lived in the middle of Lake Superior. In the present day, the Ojibwe people have surprisingly not kept a lot of their customs.
Thunder is keeping the fire to himself and from the rest of the world. Coyote wants to help everyone so he includes everybody in the plan to steal the fire back. When Coyote tricks Thunder in breaking the fire and the pieces go every where, “Every animal took a little piece and put it under its armpit or wing” (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). The authors show that Coyote helps everybody in the world by making him include everybody in the end of the plan when they grab the fire and run. At the end, Coyote “brings fire to every tribe on earth” (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). This shows that he helps every tribe on Earth and not only the ones that will benefit Coyote back. Also, it shows that he likes teamwork. This changes society in a positive way. In “Coyote Steals Fire”, the trickster helps
“Goodbye Uncle,” he said to Thunder.”Don’t gamble. It is not what you do best.”Coyote said this to the God of Thunder when he derided thunder for losing a game of dice over fire. Coyote wanted fire for the people. He figured that Thunder was unworthy of being fire’s caretaker. Coyote challenged thunder to a game of dice, cheated, and won. Thunder was furious and broke the rock containing fire. And all the animals coyote brought to carry fire grabbed the fractured pieces of rock and carried all the pieces around the world. The two trickster tales that will be compared and contrasted in this essay are Master Cat, or Puss in Boots, and Coyote Steals Fire. There are several drawable similarities and differences between these two stories.
The myth tells of giants who were fond of catching and eating little children. Coyote encountered one of the giants, who was very stupid, and wanted to teach him a lesson due to his cruelty. Coyote persuaded the giant to help him build a lodge for a sweat-bath, claiming this would make the giant as agile as Coyote. When the dark interior had filled with steam, Coyote said he’d perform a miracle by breaking and mending his own leg. Using a deer leg as his own leg, he used a rock to break it.
Early in the tale the readers are told, “Coyote decided that this was the time to get the fire away from Thunder”(Erdoes and Ortiz 45). This quote reveals that Coyote’s main goal is to steal the fire away from Thunder. This example occurs after Thunder lets out a loud rumble, and Coyote makes his conclusion to steal the fire. At this point of the tale Coyote is clear in the fact that he wants to steal the fire from Thunder and in order to do so he must confront the god like character about it. Once Coyote gets to the top of the mountain he tells Thunder that he would like to play a game of dice with him, and that if Coyote wins Thunder must “...give [him] fire”(Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Here Coyote is telling Thunder the results of the game, then as the readers know, he is also clearly telling Thunder what he wants, the fire. After the game is over and by the end of the tale, Coyote receives the fire which is what he intended to do. Coyote was successful in fulfilling the task that he wanted to complete, and that is clear because every animal gathered a piece of fire and spread it all around the world. Many animals came to the rock, just as Coyote asked them to do, and they each took some fire in order to be spread to the people. In the beginning of the tale Coyote wanted to give fire to everybody, and by the end he was able to do that because he tricked Thunder into giving the fire to him. All of the characters in the three tales receive what is wanted by them and for Coyote it is giving fire to the
The religions of the Ojibwa are very comparable to the Kanina, as far as their belief in the supernatural. To them, even objects have a purpose. Spirits might visit them in human form or as objects like rocks or trees. Many were converted into Christians by missionaries and mixed their native and Christian beliefs. Just as the Kanina, this culture also had Shamans with specialty powers. They even had a tent, called a shaking tent, which they would use in order to talk to spirits, request help with problems, or hold ceremonies called Midewiwin. This ceremony hosts many purposes such as myths about origin and migration, healing, initiating new Ojibwa members, naming children, and many more.
