An organization is an integration of people, structure and technology to meet an objective. Every organization consists of formal and informal elements. Formal elements include aims, objectives, products and services, whereas informal elements include the range of emotions related to the business. For this integration to work smoothly, organizational behavior is a key. So, what exactly is organizational behavior? It is the way in which an individual or a group behaves within an organization. Organizational behavior is a key concept which managers need to fully understand to have a successful department and organization. Along with the having a good repose with employees; managers need to have an understanding of the environment and goals of the organization he or she works in. Since companies are now growing into a more global organization, the need for proper communication is necessary for managers in order for the organization to understand the diverse culture within the company. Managers today have to either take charge or become leaders or he or she may not advance to the next level in management.

One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. They must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals. Organizational behavior is "the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself." We can divide organizational behavior into 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the organization. The second is the work group which is made by pacing workers into specific groups. The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

According to Schermerhorn, Hunt, Osborn, and Uhl-bien Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups in organizations (pg. 4). Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) is a vital part of the success of a company. The employee’s thoughts and actions even considering culture are thoroughly analyzed. This idea allows managers to improve not only individual behavior but also group dynamic performances/interactions and workers safety. This theory is considered as a science of the behavior of each employee. The history of OBM started in the 1900’s, with the strong influence of Skinner and Watson. Scientific Behavior began in the workplace, following the applications of behavioral principles to instructional design. Frederick Taylor, another innovative manager was a huge supporter of the scientific method being presented and utilized. Three main areas of OBM application include: Performance Management, Behavioral Systems Analysis, and Behavior-Based Safety. Inside of each area, there are key points to consider. Some would be leadership, decision making, team building, motivation, and job satisfaction. In short, OBM is the study that reviews how organizational structures are an aftermath within companies.

Organizational Behavior in many respects is the study of human behavior in organizational settings. It encompasses the study a person, a team and an entire organization to create an analysis of the organizational patterns of behavior and culture within the company.

In the current paper, we discuss the macro organizational behavior as to how the whole setup of the organization reacts to the work environment.

When small business owners start the concept of what type of business one would like to own, an array of critical thinking starts and a business owner has to consider questions that will make or break his or her success. Owners, who pay attention to the current rise and fall of stock for his or her chosen business, will have the upper hand against competitors. Throughout the course, we have learned that no business can be successful without proper organizational behavior management. According to The Business Dictionary, organization behavior is simply defined as: “Actions and attitudes of individuals and groups toward one another and toward the organization as a whole, and its effect on the organization’s functioning and performance.” While having organizational behavior is an essential function of the business, there are many issues that can arise from it.

Organizational behavior is the behavior of individuals, either one or a group. It is not the behavior of an organization, but rather the behavior of the people in an organization. This can be anywhere from a family at home to a church to a work group within a company. Some of the challenges that make behaviors challenging in today’s workplace are high performance, ethical behavior, productivity improvement, technology utilization, quality, diversity, work-life balance, and the global economy, (Schermerhorn, 2003, P. 1).

According to Laurie J. Mullins (2013. pp.4-5), “Organizational Behavior is concerned with the study of the behavior of people within an organizational setting, generally along the lines of understanding of individual and group behavior, and patterns of structure in order to help improve organizational performance and effectiveness.”
