Introduction
Welcome to the Cornell Fine Arts Museum.
Has anyone visited here before?
Great! Well let me tell you a little bit about the museum.
This is a teaching museum, which means our mission is to educate the community. We give tours from k-12 and adults. We have free admission for all, so you are always welcome to come back!
We currently have 5,000 objects. We are the only museum in central Florida to hold antiquities and American art.
For this exhibition, we have selected works from our permanent collection and that’s what we will focus on today.
Before we go into the gallery, I want to state the museum etiquette that is important to follow.
Please do not get too close to the artwork so you don’t accidently

This was a common practice * We know it’s a senator because of the velvet robe he wears
* How do you think power and wealth are portrayed in this painting?
* Is the sitter sitting or trying to get up?
* A servant boy is shown. Before this painting was cleaned in 1960s, the was painted over so that he was not shown. * Flesh is given depth by first using olive paint above flesh tones
Religion Redefined
Now lets look at Religion redefined.
Just like gesture and pose, we can see how certain aspects of a painting can hint to us who the figures are in a painting. We can also see how religion is portrayed in different ways even within the same religion

Museums have long served a purpose as cultural staples. For every museum, big and small, careful consideration is used in selecting its contents. When securing new items for a museum, it is most important to consider public appeal, educational value, and cost-effectiveness.
The first paper is due by Monday, April 9, 11:59 p.m. You MAY use sources outside of the Liberty Search Engine (and are encouraged to do so). Also you may use scholarly books and not just journal articles. You should avoid using generic websites that do not appear scholarly in nature. A good rule of thumb is that if a website does not have an author, it is not a good source. Good online material has also usually been published in print at some point. Google Scholar and JSTOR are great places to search, as well as the online encyclopedias I've shown you. Always feel free to send me an email if you have questions about sources or formatting.
Any questions about whether a museum-visit activity fits the course and assignment well enough will be decided by the instructor when the student seeks approval for the activity. Any alternative
Founded in 1959, The El Paso Museum of Art has been a pillar of the community (reword). Teenage Son has borrowed parent’s car one evening. First, he dropped by his girlfriend's house to pick her up but once there met with considerable resistance from her parents. Her father stood menacingly in front of the car as your son started the engine, and your son, not one to be intimidated, yelled out the window that he would run over her father if he did not get out of the way. The father, who doggedly stood his ground until the last possible moment, barely escaped injury when he finally jumped aside.
The planning for this museum began in the 1990s when the state and local leaders began discussing creating a hands-on facility that will educate visitors about the Gulf of Mexico. The displays and exhibits include America’s Sea, Tools of the Trade, plus many more!
I hope to see museums make more concerted efforts to educate the public. Too many exhibits are of the “passive, didactic looking” than like the engaging Object Stories program (Dartt, Murawski). Exhibits should seek to tell untold narratives, and programs should be places of communication and cross-cultural encounters. For too long, difficult confrontations have been avoided, both inside the museum, and by dominant communities
After arriving and going through the security screenings, I proceeded to go down the stairs, entering the exhibit itself. Before even observing anything specific, it was immediately realized that this was no typical museum. Most people know that upon arrival, but only when you first enter the exhibit do you realize that this museum is not one that inspects the past, but one that reminds us of it.
For my first museum paper I went to OSV since it was my first and only choice of venue. I went to the Towne’s House since I was told I would be able to find what I was looking for. After struggling to find a painting that I could read the information on, I saw the various the paintings along some walls and ceilings.
Childhood obesity is increasing worldwide. Experts estimate that 1 in 5 kids between the ages of 6 and 17 are overweight. That means that as they get older they will be more at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart related diseases. Things that we used to associate with older people are now affecting younger and younger children. There are many reasons for this rise in obesity and this paper will look at a few of them. My goal is to show a correlation between what children are doing and how it affects their chances of being obese. My data comes from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website. They sent a survey to schools in all
Some of the other museums I have been to have included the South Florida Museum in downtown Bradenton, Florida and the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa right across the street from USF. These are very different from the Ringling because they focus on different types of things. The South Florida Museum is a natural history museum that hosts displays for the public that deals with Florida’s past human civilizations and animal life. It has its own manatee aquarium and planetarium and is very interactive for children. MOSI is more of a science, health, technology, robotics centered museum and works to combine fun with education. It also has its own space planetarium and an IMAX dome that plays different movies and has many things for kids to enjoy themselves while they learn about science. As you can notice these two museums are not at all like the Ringling. Therefore, the Ringling is the only museum of art that has cultivated my understanding, interpretation, and appreciation for European art and the decorative elements that it displays in its galleries. When you are there you truly feel as though the world’s treasures are there before you and you are standing in a palace. With its vast display of Baroque style art from the surrounding regions of Europe, to the decorative objects and Greco-Roma sculptures, and varying
17. On my museum experience, I took it in like every other visit to the museum I have ever had: much like other children expressed wonder and amazement at a circus performance or sports game; I was awestruck and mesmerized by the colors, the atmosphere, and the same restrained joy that I felt evident in the eyes of all the other observers. My girlfriend and I made our way through the museum, blending in with crowds of other viewers to see Cezanne, Gauguin, Brueghel, O’Keefe and the like in the permanent collection, making time to go from one end of the spectrum to the other. But my heart has always had a soft spot for
Assessment must be done to determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the existing collection. Any proposed acquisitions should be able to address the limits in the existing collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The acquisition strategy should ensure that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum collection shall enhance and reflect the immediate and long term goals of the museum.
