The 5 questions and their answers I asked in my interviews are as follows; 1). How did the professionals such as the Dr.’s, nurses, PT, OT, etc. treat and/or interact with your father/client? My first woman told me that her father was a Korean war vet and that the majority of his Dr.’s were at the VA in MN. She was not impressed because many times they all seemed as if it was a burden for them to have to see him. She also observed young men and women there in waiting rooms who were treated with respect and they seemed to get right in to their appointment whereas her dad would sometimes wait 1 to 3 hours only to be told that they would have to reschedule. It was very sad. My second woman I interviewed told me that rarely would she ever see Dr.’s …show more content…
The daughter told me all of this; not only does my father and mother live with me, but I have also been raising my 2 granddaughters since their births. They are 4 and 20 months now. I myself have Addison’s Disease, which is caused by STRESS! I am on several medicines and the most important is Hydrocortisone. Without this 1 medicine I will begin to die within 48 hours and by the end of a week there would be my funeral! I was trying to make extra money by giving swimming and music lessons. I was once a band and choir director in a local school district for 23 years, but had to retire due to my disease. I also lost my home because of my brothers illegal real estate deals and then my parents had to also move since they were on my property. So, I was trying to care for everyone AND move 3 homes 4 times in 5 months until we finally found our new home to buy. So, my health has suffered greatly even though I try to do things like walking with my wife, going for a short 4 wheeler ride, playing with grandkids. I am trying to destress but it just will not
I have Interview 3 separate individuals representing three generations my parents, my mother in-law, and my husband.
To better understand your condition, can you kindly provide brief descriptions of the various symptoms that you are experiencing?
This piece of work will be based on the pre-assessment process that patients go through on arrival to an endoscopy unit in which I was placed in during my second year studying Adult diploma Nursing. I will explore one patient’s holistic needs, identifying the priorities of care that the patient requires; I will then highlight a particular priority and give a rational behind this. During an admission I completed under the supervision of my mentor I was pre-assessing a 37 year old lady who had arrived to the unit for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. During the pre-assessment it was important that a holistic assessment is performed as every patient is an individual with unique care needs as the patient outline in this piece of work has
According to my interviewee, the Master’s graduate program as compared to the undergraduate program was more challenging but yet rewarding. This was attributed to the fact that she had a strong passion for informatics and wanted to obtain a higher level of education.
As healthcare providers, maintaining a patient’s confidentiality, human dignity and privacy is expected at all times. Nurses are faced with maintaining patient confidentiality on a daily basis. The Coded of Ethics for Nurses is the framework of nonnegotiable ethical standards and obligations that all nurses are to uphold. Nurses are to be accountable for their actions and are expected to advocate and strive to protect the rights, health and safety of patients (American Nurses Association, 2011).
I interviewed my primary care physician Dr. Michelle Class, who is a pediatrician in the private practice of Lori McAuliffe, M.D., P.A. Dr. Class has worked in the field of pediatrics since completing Medical school at The University of Florida and a 3-year residency to become a board certified pediatrician. She offers primary care to children from birth till the age of twenty-one, and provides routine physicals to chart growth and development, well-visits, and professional consultation, diagnosis and treatment for chronic and temporary illness or other health issues. All efforts work toward preventing disease and injury amongst children, the primary goal of all pediatricians in the field of health care. The practice at which she works also allows doctors to utilize epidemiological resources and inform patients about current health trends regarding illness, current school, county regulations updates on health and vaccination deadlines, and basic understanding of childcare, hygiene, and nutrition practices for children and parents. I chose to interview Dr. Class because she is an excellent doctor, who I have been privileged to have over the years. She has personally given me her very best whenever my health was poor, as well as been a wonderful person who truly cares for her patients physical and mental wellbeing. Her passion and dedication to the craft of pediatric medicine are evident in the quality of care and service she
In the interview the question about any advice she wanted to offer was asked, with a big smile on her face, I am sure, she responded that the field is “wide open” ("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011) she continued on to say, if you are a self-starter it
Under the "Patients Bill of Rights from the Association of American Physicians and Surgeon's (AAPS) a health care provider needs to understand that the AAPS merges with Affordable Care Act (ACA) to provide protection and offers rights regarding interactions with insurance companies, medical facility, or physicians (Woodard, 2017). It is the health care providers responsibility to make sure they know the current patient bill of rights law. For example, they need to know that the patient has the right to a second opinion. A patient has the right to refuse treatment (Woodard, 2017). As long as the patient is deemed competent when making the decision to refuse treatment. There is 21 patient bill of rights, and it would be the health care
The interview paper that I will be presenting will be on three separate generations for learning information on health care before and present. According to Healthy People 2012 there are more then 800,000 new cases of diabetes each year, with the numbers on the rise. Through patient education Healthy People 2012 hopes to reduce the number of foot ulcers in people with diabetes, as diabetes is the number one cause of nontraumatic amputations in the United States. In order to
Healthcare changes occurring today along with shrinking budgets and reimbursement rates for hospitals has forced institution CEOs to do more with less. Changes and restructuring of various health facilities require nursing leaders with flexibility and adaptability. Nurse leaders must also consider budgetary constraints, cost effectiveness, patient safety, and quality care while maintaining focus on improved patient outcome. The responsibility of ensuring patients receive safe and high quality care belongs to every employee in the hospital, including support staff such as IV therapy. In this hospital, this led to the development of a nurse director position to oversee the

I agree that one instance where effective communication seems unnecessary is when traumatic events happens to a patient. Most of the time when the patient comes into the hospital through the trauma department there is no time to lose and that patient is unresponsive. Patient and physician communication is important in allowing the physician to ensure that they are providing the best treatment for that patient. Sometimes communication between physicians and patients is the differences between life and death.
In 2011, ADHB (which comprises Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre, both situated in Auckland City) moved away from paper patient experience surveys and turned toward an electronic form; email surveys. By surveying patients on their experience in hospital, ADHB hopes to gain more insight into what patients’ deem important to them in their hospital care, focusing on the good aspects of patient experience and what can be done to enhance these rather than on the less positive aspects of patient experience. The patient experience is very complex and, as a literature view of the topic has found, it is difficult to determine what exactly it comprises. By analysing the open comments made by inpatients
In conclusion, when considering a potential rehabilitation for a patient in any circumstance, it is crucial that all potential methods of treatment are considered so that the patient is able to have optimal care. Numerous studies conducted by a large number of researchers have evidence regarding the value of interventions for PD beyond medications and surgery, and how these interventions offers an opportunity for patients to be active participants in their care. Of course, one of these interventions for individuals with Parkinson’s disease is the use of the Wii system in order to promote the health of the individuals. A study conducted by Shulman and colleagues was done to test various methods of exercise among individuals with PD and gait impairment. Sixty seven
