For example, every week, I plan my time around my family, social life and studies; I monitor my goals; identify missed targets; meet deadlines and submit my coursework quicker than expected. In addition, the skills has guided me to look internally and externally to find out what I am best at (hardworking, diligent, open-minded) and terrible at (socializing, reading long passages, seeking people’s approval) which I am making efforts to work on and eliminate if possible, so as to have new opportunities and identify my life, career direction, and

According to dictionary.com leadership is defined as, the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group: Its synonyms include guidance, influence, control, direction and supervision. These are all qualifications that are needed to be an effective leader. All characteristics are not necessarily needed at the same time and do no need to be used for each subordinate. This paper will identify my personal leadership philosophy along with theories to support my leadership style.
Phase 1 of the Personal Leadership Philosophy Paper presented the opinion and supporting information establishing that; leaders are products of opportunity, birth and environment, but of these; opportunity influences great leadership the most. Furthermore, it was discussed that assigned leadership is a cancer to corporate America and this point is illustrated in the following example. While employed at Deloitte and Touché Consulting Group (DNT) we engaged ARCO, a major oil and gas company, to develop and implement an email migration strategy that consisted of 1200 Arco users at their subsidiary company, Vaster Resources Inc. In the initial meeting we were introduced to a gentleman, we will call John Smith for the purposes of this paper,
Leadership represents an essential element for the success of an organization, it has a profound impact on the achievement of the goals. The leadership unites an organization efforts and directs toward the behavior of individuals in line with the achievement of objectives and deliverables. Organizations composed of members from different cultures, mentalities, and personalities representing groups of people work together in a specific regulatory framework and in accordance with certain operating procedures. These groups or work teams need to coordinate among them in order to reach the specific objectives. In this context, it always highlights the role of leadership in influencing an organization. The Strategic Leadership Instructor is doing his best to develop our leadership, and exploiting his innate cleverness and natural sensation to support his fellows to succeed. He helps us in enabling of taking advantage of the actual innate sixth sense that God gave it, and exploiting the energy and the ability to distinguish. I learned a lot from readings and during the sessions, I learned from my colleagues some of the basic functions of leadership through their experiences. I learned how to develop my skills that will support my style of leadership. During the discussions I have changed some of principles and ideas that already I have, and the others make me to work on developing them. It became clear to me, when I read the
My father once told me that, “everything we do— be it in academia, at work, social or family life—we are guided by principles, beliefs and values that collectively form our ideology of life.” I believe that every leader, to a certain extent, is shaped through her individual personal experience. Although in some cases, we may not realize to what extent our personal assumptions and beliefs shape our ability to lead or be led.
Personal Assessment and Leadership Development Plan Introduction The focus of my personal assessment and leadership development plan is to denote the values, beliefs, thoughts, and actions that will propel me into a state of personal fulfillment as a more complete leader at home, in the workplace, and in the community. The preparation of this document will result in the creation of a deliverable to be frequently referenced and used as a reminder of the overall direction and more specific strategies to achieve my personal and professional hopes, dreams, and aspirations, as well as put into place a foundation for facilitating leadership development in my communities. The opportunity to positively affect the careers and lives of those I work alongside is one of the greatest privileges and responsibilities that I have. As a Boatswains Mate I’ve been fortunate to be in the presence of some great leaders; they defined leadership through their actions, not words. They epitomized the Core Values and expected the same from the crew. The bottom line was that they cared, respected, trusted us and empowered us to become the leader we wanted to be and more importantly the leader the service needs us to be so that we can continue our Service to Nation, Duty to People and Mission Excellence. As an Officer in Charge (OIC) I’m afforded a unique opportunity as an enlisted leader of a unit. Responsibility and accountability cannot be delegated and the repercussions of betraying those duties will have far lasting effects on not only the unit but also the members who were impacted by negative leadership and inconsistent alignment of values. My personal leadership philosophy, which has been drafted and revised numerous times throughout my career, now serves as my Command Philosophy: Family, Readiness and Mission Excellence.
Throughout my life I have experienced a variety of things. Among those things I have dealt with is leadership. Leadership is having the ability to lead or guide others. Anyone can become a leader if they set their mind to doing it. A quote I always liked said “Leadership is unlocking people’s potential to become better” –Bill Bradley. This quote to me simply says that you have to enhance the lives of other if you want to be a great leader yourself. In my paper I would like to discuss a few leadership experiences I have been involved in while here at The University of Southern Mississippi.
Throughout life one will encounter many experiences and there is a lesson within each of those experiences. Right now as an activity aide in a nursing home my passion is to make sure each and every resident gets some sort of enjoyment out of their day whether it’s from reading the newspaper, having coffee outside or its getting their nails painted. I just want to make sure their day has some activity that they enjoy. My dream job after graduation is to work in a hospital in the palliative care/hospice as a social worker. In this setting I will still get to make
This paper will incorporate four of the self-assessment I completed (Leadership, 2004). They are as follows; social motives in the work setting, my leadership styles, emotional intelligence, and team excellence. I will also identify and discuss my leadership characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. We must first understand what leadership means. To lead, nonetheless, is to excite, to impact, and to inspire. Successful leaders move others to draw in incredibleness, to stretch out themselves and to go past their perform work necessities by producing innovative thoughts. It has been said that directors are individuals who do things right and leaders are individuals who make the best choice." This refinement is to some degree exaggerated since successful leaders do a considerable measure of overseeing and compelling chiefs need to lead.
Describe a specific example(s) of your personal growth and development through your leadership experiences in college. See the help text for additional direction.
The sum of education, experiences, and observations lays a foundation upon which I will grow to become a good leader. In this plan, I will focused on those aspects of leadership that I believe are most required for personal development as well as those which will be so significant for my future leadership career. I have identified three goals which will guide me in the development process. My goals are to develop my integrity, listening skills and communications skills. I assume that this plan will change and be altered as required by life circumstances.
Organizations depend on the management and leadership skills of individuals in order to be successful. Leaders do not have to be managers but are equally important. Leaders are individuals who possess traits, behavior and abilities to influence others to accomplish tasks and other needed objectives for the company. Leadership is defined as “the ability of an individual to influence, motivate, and enable others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization. . . .” (House et al., 1999, pg. 184).
How have you grown as a leader? Be specific and try to use examples of your leadership in and
