Subjective I really enjoyed my first week in the HIM Department at Baptist Health Lexington. I was required to attend orientation on Monday and Tuesday before I could begin in the HIM department. One complaint I have is that I wish I would could have used those two days to become familiar with the HIM department because a significant portion of the orientation was over pay and benefits which didn’t pertain to me. My preceptor, Linda, as well as all of employees in the department, made me feel extremely welcome and were eager to answer any questions I had this week. I was surprised at how well the HSA program had prepared me for working in this type of setting. When talking with employees in the department about their specific job duties I felt that I was knowledgable and gave off a good impression. Originally I had been a little bit nervous but after getting started I gained a boost of confidence and became really excited about the future and starting my career. Baptist Health Lexington is definitely an organization I would like to work for one day. They are focused on employee satisfaction, providing the best care possible and have a lot of exciting changes coming in the future, such as the opening of the new North Tower in a month and the move the Epic EHR system in June. Objective The first two days of the week I had to complete general orientation for all of Baptist Health’s new employees. During the orientation we were educated on HIPAA, infection control, risk
Looking back, I regard attending WBU one of my best lifetime decisions. Before I discuss my experiences at WBU, it would be prudent to first give a brief background of myself. To begin with, I have had the opportunity of serving my country in the military and in a way; this has largely shaped my personality and my outlook of life. In that regard, I have come to appreciate the value of life more than ever before. Further, the time I have served in the military has taught me that success is possible in any facet of life with the right attitude, determination and personal sacrifice.
Acting is a way of escaping the world we live in. Acting will help me escape my own world. Wayland Baptist University, Home of the Pioneers will help me in my future acting career and will help me with scriptwriting.
As a Christian counseling, I realize that I am an adjunct, specializing in a practice that is appropriately attached to and derived from the core practice, as it is legally defined (Clinton and Ohlschlager, p133). I also realize that I am more than a counselor; however, I have become a soul-care artisan, a disciple, a mentor, a spiritual director, and a guide into the deeper way of Christ (p132). Therefore, every Christian counseling session, I have encountered, has started with a prayer, to welcome God into the midst, as the Holy Spirit take the lead and guides what is said by me, as the counselor. As a Christian counselor, it is my hope that my knowledge of Spiritual formation reshapes the inner man, by being formed spiritually from the inside out, transforming from a selfish and carnal existence to a holy and joyful one; by one’s faith, as well as, the client’s faith, in God (Clinton and Ohlschlager, p130)
In my experience at first progressive Baptist Church I was very much out of my comfort zone because not only did I not feel as welcomed but it was a little awkward because of all the looks I was receiving. I felt I was not dressed as they were and felt as if I didn't fit in and right away I just didn't feel appropriate with my attire. While I was there I actually had people wanting to shake hands and asking me questions about me coming and there was one man who just stared at me and so it was uncomfortable and didn't know how to react. While I was there I started to notice that there is a little difference from the church I go to and the music was way different as well, everyone will talk back with amen or thank you Jesus. The difference
At 16 I experienced rural healthcare at its worst. My older brother and I were home alone when he started having severe stomach pain. I had never seen him cry in pain before and I was terrified. There isn’t a doctor in our hometown, so I drove him to the closest hospital, about 30 minutes away. Neither one of had a cell phone and the hospital staff wouldn’t allow me to use their phone to call my parents because they both had long-distance phone numbers. Hours after we arrived, someone in the waiting room let me use her cell phone to call my mom. When my parents got there, they took my brother to an exam room and then immediately back to surgery—his appendix had burst. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized this experience was not normal. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized similar experiences often happen in rural communities because of the need for primary care physicians and quality health care facilities.
I found the program to be well rounded in the health care field and I am happy that I chose to continue with this program as an entry into the health administration field. This program has given me more opportunity to prepare an entrance into a professional environment of being of service in various health facilities and agencies, clinics and hospitals. The responsibility of the health administrator will encompass a wide variety of duties including but not limited to administrative, medical, legal and ethical requirements and brilliantly combines the overall knowledge of the business administration and the health care system.

Volunteering at Texas Health Presbyterian Plano is my way of giving back to the community while developing critical social skills, and gaining important medical field exposure along the way. It’s an opportunity to change a person’s life, including my own. I volunteered at two hospitals last summer and I’m well acquainted with what volunteering entails and would more than love to do it again. Through this hospital volunteer program, I hope to discover my own passions and talents, while also developing skills that I will utilize throughout my entire high school and college experience.
I chose to research about the history behind Wake Forest Baptist Health Hospital, since I was curious about how the place that I had come to love after volunteering there for two years in the Wake Forest Summer Volunteen Program. After the building of Wake Forest University’s School of Medicine in 1902, they decided to expand the biomedical and materials sciences with improved technology by innovations of the Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Center in 1923. It took 39 years before the Wake Forest College formed a partnership with the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem to make it the institution that we know it to be today. “Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has grown to encompass 172
I knew one thing for certain: Tennessee was a very stupid state filled with stupid people and I would never drink their stupid sweet tea. Thus was my twelve year old opinion.
Prior to walking in, my expectations for what I was about to partake in and experience were all over the place. I didn’t know whether to expect the absolute worst types of situations going on such as people being rushed into medical rooms or the most basic situations such as patients waiting for a strep throat test. I did expect to see a wide range of patients in terms of race, class, age, and gender. Contrary to the patients, I didn’t expect to see a wide range of race, class, age, and gender within the staff. I expected to see mostly female nurses, and male doctors, majority being Caucasian and middle age. I didn’t expect there to be that much security or any type of possible crime that could go on within a medical facility. I expected the waiting area and facility to be very large, large enough to accommodate a lot of patients at once. Lastly, I expected that taking our field notes would be a challenge because writing notes down in front of patients would be awkward and during interviews it would be hard to conduct a good interview while writing the whole time.
This report is a compilation of our conversation with Karen Gordon - Sosby, associate director at the Texas State University Student Health Center made for an interview report. Ms. Karan has been working at Texas state health center for 23 years. She started her career with a public health degree in health education and a business degree in accounting and later moved to administration. Interestingly she has been working at a single place from the start of her health administration career; she made a remark on the disadvantage the younger generations most often face by being too quick in leaving an organization. She said that organizations would like to hire those who are interested in staying with them for long, also she shared her own situation of how there are less chances that someone could fill her position with the same kind of experience and knowledge of needs of the university.
Palmetto Health Baptist service more beginning mothers and their babies than any hospital in the Midlands. Palmetto offers loving and compassionate care to their patients to provide them with educational, spiritual, and emotional needs. Also, Palmetto Health Baptist developed a family like atmosphere so that each family member feels important, while waiting for their new addition to the family. The birthplace includes: labor, delivery, surgical area, and both a high risk and recovery unit. I was lucky to get a quick appointment through a classmate I had last semester in my class, who currently is employed there. My interview was set for April 22, 2016. Mrs. Jones and I met up and I was able to follow her to the facility two hours before her scheduled shift. Palmetto Health Baptist is a big staff working hospital. This hospital is great to work for and not just for pediatric nurses but also for other health science majors. Palmetto Hospital has the greatest dedicated staff, making sure your questions are answered and your concerns are worriless.
Describe strategies you gained from the course for improving outcomes of care and patient safety in the setting in which you are engaged in. Provide examples and rationale.
I decided to go to a Baptist Church here in Miami. The reason that I chose Coral Park Baptist Church was because most Baptist Churches that I called here in Miami had the service in Spanish but Coral Park Baptist had an English service as well. I went to the eleven o’clock service on Sunday. The whole church itself was pretty big. There is the main temple that has the regular service in Spanish and then there is a whole other building that has separate classrooms where the English service is held and other Sunday school type classes are held.
