Personal Statement On My Values

Visions usually require changing people’s values. What desired changes in values are highlighted by this case study?

Values mean different things to different people as they have differing beliefs and values. After this book was published, people’s values may have changed as they realized they have had the wrong values and priorities, and needed a change.

What do I consider my core personal values? A value can be defined as trait or attribute inherently desired. In essence, they are intangible qualities that are deemed worthy of possessing. Yet, I have never given much thought to identifying what my desirable qualities were as a person. Values and morals are an integral part of life; values define who we are on a personal and professional level. In this season of my life, I find myself residing in the most opportune time to reflect on my managerial competencies, as my surrounding environment in which I now lead and manage, has taken a dramatic shift. The eight roles identified by the Competing Values Framework that are essential for effective management, do not make the smoothest transition from a multi until store manager in a retail environment, to a Director of Children’s Ministry in a religious institution. The competencies in which I excelled in Corporate America, I find are not the strengths I need to tap into to find success in my new role. Therefore, in order to achieve the vision of what comparable success is in my new role, I need to build on my competencies that display weakness in regards to the Competing Values Framework that will be the defining factor of my success or failure.

My personal values act as a basis for determining right and wrong in my daily life. My life, my parents, my husband and my children have all played valuable roles in the development of my core values. The following is an ever changing personal ethics creed, that I plan on using to help guide me in my endeavors.

Life can be many things, it can be a box of chocolates or it can be a big trial and error, over time some of our values change, become eroded, or become forgotten. Our actions can say more than our talking and our beliefs guide us in life. Over the years, my values have greatly influenced my character and helped me reach my point in life right now. Unfortunately, not every one is lucky, they forget their values and become overwhelmed.
