Some of these historical findings have started leading people to understand that the amount of junk food that they consume is something that is very important for the health.Usually a person who is young that consumes a large amount of junk food may see an increase in obesity cholesterol and high blood pressure. For a person who is older such as in their 30s and 40s they may then see those things as well plus other illnesses that could lead to things such as high blood pressure and heart disease .To avoid an unhealthy lifestyle in the future something that might be questioned. Is it possible to live a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying junk foods?

Every year the average American’s health declines. This is a major problem for the sake of the future of our country and future generations. Due to the great range and ease of purchasing inexpensive and delicious fast and junk foods, the health of Americans declines and issues of obesity and many other poor health related-diseases to our health such as diabetes rises. Analyzing data from a survey conducted at Rosemead High School along with the following articles “Bad Food? Tax it, and Subsidize Vegetables” by Mark Bittman, “Attacking the Obesity Epidemic by First Figuring Out Its Cause” by Jane E. Brody, “No Lunch Left Behind” by Alice Waters & Katrina Heron, and “The Pleasures of Eating” by Wendell Berry. All four articles make it clear that as a country, we must put a great effort to spread awareness about the dangers of what fast and junk foods do to our health. Although not every American’s health is at stake, the majority are at risk, so I believe it should be a priority for all Americans to eat healthier; therefore, our government, school administration, teachers, parents, and children should improve their eating habits by avoiding fast and junk foods.

In the past 100 years of society, our increasingly busy lives have led to less time available to cook meals at home with healthy ingredients. Fast food restaurants intend to capitalize on this rising crisis, but, in order for fast food companies like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, etc. to make their food so quickly, they offer simple meal choices with cheap ingredients, making the food high in fat and sugar. The most prominent of these meals is the cheeseburger, consisting of bread, a meat patty, cheese, and varying other things like pickles or onions. Things like the meat and cheese come from cows, and this creates problems, such as methane emissions. Since so many people are buying fast food, fast food companies raise more cattle to satisfy the demand, but these cows need food to eat as well. Those crops, grown specifically to be fed to cattle, take up the majority of agricultural space in the United States, and could be replaced with better, healthier options. If people were to stop eating fast food, it would benefit them, as well as benefit the planet.

The government needs to provide education through media that is targeted towards the teen generation such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and also provide programs or measures that are able to be completed without the need for drastic action.

Snacks that were once considered to be healthy are now filled with harmful substances that consequently make them fall under the category of junk foods instead. A perfect example of this is the Lunchables snack. While the majority of parents consider them to be a healthy lunch option for their children, Lunchables actually contain many harmful ingredients that make them the complete opposite of the quick and nutritious meal that they are marketed as.
