My Behavior Change topic will be gaining strength. This behavioral topic has became my goal for strengthening my muscles on a physical outlook on working out. There are a lot of ways increase muscle strength, such as a caloric surplus and supplements. I want to bench two hundred twenty-five pounds for five repetitions on a smith machine. Muscular strength refers to “The amount of force a muscle can produce and is usually measured by the maximum amount of force a muscle can produce in a single effort maximal effort”. (Very Well) The more force you can generate will increase your strength.When training for strength, you should be lifting heavy weight in which you can only doing three to seven repetitions. Also, working on maxing out on your weight, which means pushing yourself until failure.
When I first began training for strength, the weight was low because I was continuously in a caloric deficit and not training for strength. “A calorie surplus leads to weight gain. The type of weight you gain (muscle vs. fat) is entirely dependent on how much you eat and how much you exercise. Since muscle growth is limited to 10-15 pounds per year, increasing calorie intake beyond a certain point leads to body fat rather than muscle gains.” (Strength Health) Your body needs more calories to growth and gain strength. So, if you don’t eat enough, you will never obtain your goal. Since being in a caloric surplus of five hundred calories, my strength has increased. “A calorie deficit is a
