INTRODUCTION AND LITERATURE REVIEW
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Pipe bends are used in power plants, oil refineries, petroleum pipelines, chemical industries, pharmaceuticals and food industry. The main purpose of bend pipe is to change the direction of substance in the piping system and it is considered as one of the critical components in the piping systems due to its flexibility. The piping system carry substances from one point to another point. The carrying of substance in pipe system will be done by applying pressure, temperature etc. If the piping system in an industry fails, company have to stop the running process and it’s directly loss to company. The company have to do maintenance of piping system and cost is increased. Therefore, the piping system have the importance in the industry. The safety of the

4) The thickness at crown of the bend is the average of maximum and minimum thickness (¼t).
5) Under torsional moment loading, the pipe bend was assumed to behave like a straight pipe, keeping a circular cross-section
A.Buckshumiyan (2013) analyzed the plastic collapse loads in shape-imperfect pipe bends under in-plane opening bending moment. In this paper, one half of the pipe bend with straight pipe attachment is used for analysis. Symmetry boundary condition was applied as one half of section is used for analysis. Using Multipoint constraint, one end of pipe bend is kept constant and to the other end rotation is applied to obtain moment-rotation curve to find out the collapse load. The moment-rotation curves were plotted for each model to obtain collapse load. Finally concluded that thickness variation in the cross section of pipe bends on account of thinning and thickening produces negligible effect on collapse moment. The effect of ovality on collapse moment is

The first pipelines were nothing special; they were short and sometimes made of wood. With their growing popularity into the 1860s, the quality control followed over the pipe manufacturing, switching from wrought iron to steal. (Pipeline 101, n.d.) Coming into the twenty-first century, the pipeline has still been playing a key role in the oil industry. Given, its importance to the oil industry it is important to understand how
At the same time, pipeline safety regulations have become more complete, driven by better understanding of materials available and better techniques to operate and maintain pipelines” (“Why Do We Need Pipelines” 1). Since the 1830’s pipelines have come a long ways. Now instead of being made of iron, they are manufactured with very strong steel.
The CP values at the trailing edge vary for different angles. They all range between 0 and -0.5. It is maximum at -4º and 0º while it is minimum at 16º.
Plumbing is a necessity in the modern home. When a problem occurs with the water main or sewer line beneath your lawn, trenchless pipe replacement can provide a time effective solution without the need for excavating your lawn. Trenchless pipe replacement requires less labor, and less time than traditional methods of pipe replacement. Furthermore, it prevents the need for replacing sod and landscaping. Contact a Benjamin Franklin plumber in Katy for expert sewer, or water line repair in Katy.
You asked the following question: “A horizontal pipe supplies hose valves that rises vertically 5 ft through a concrete podium deck and terminates with hose valves. A 4-way brace is provided on the horizontal pipe at the elbow fitting and a flexible coupling connects to the vertical pipe. The vertical pipe penetrates the concrete where a link seal is provided. Is it the intent of NFPA 13 to require a flexible coupling above and below a concrete podium deck when installing a vertical standpipe hose valve connection?” In response to your question we have reviewed NFPA 13, 2013 edition as the applicable standard. Our informal interpretation is that a flexible coupling would not be required for this application.

ST pipelines originated in the USA where they were first used in 1896 in the form of corrugated steel pipe culverts. Since then, steel pipelines for water supply have been used extensively throughout the world, including the UK. One of the earliest steel water pipe installations in the United States, still in service today, was in San Francisco in 1863.

Special on the pipe branching 29 382 lines with the appropriate amount of support 5 pieces of calculation was not able to withstand the occasional load is affected by the wind because the line was known to have a sufficient length of pipe length and diameter is very small which is 1 inch, so the need to increase support at least 2 the path to be able to withstand the
This report has been written to describe an experiment performed on a channel section examining the stiffness of the beam through two differing types of deformation – curvature and deflection. The aim of the experiment was to determine the value of the flexural rigidity (EI) in two different ways; using the curvature, k, and the mid-span deflection. The testing method used for the experiment is described. The experiment found that the EI values calculated were as follows: - EIcurv = 1.76E+10 Mpa.mm4 when calculated using the curvature, k. - EIdefl
Moreover, the company should do a risk assessment to identify the main issues that may arise with the construction of the pipeline because this will allow the company to identify the best safety procedures to avoid, mitigate or eliminate them. For example, if sensors are installed throughout the entire pipeline to monitor the eventual leaks or the condition of the pipeline, it is easier to avoid leaks, which is one the biggest concern regarding the construction of pipelines. Also, frequent maintenance should be done on the pipelines to avoid that they eventually break or start getting weaker due to
Pipelines design must take into consideration a number of issues including the volume of soil or gas to be transported, the soil strength and stability of the sea floor, environmental conditions such as water depth, temperatures, and marine life. Companies are responsible for the safety of their pipe lines and are audited and inspected by a host of agencies. Pipeline routes are selected to allow safe operations over the life of the pipeline. Surveys are conducted to gather data on the sea floor terrain and soil properties and environmental events such as currents and its movements. The data is then used to select routes with the most stable conditions to ensure the line will be safe. Natural gas is transported to gas plants for processing. Once components such as butane and propane are recovered, they are sent to other plants for further processing or directly to the market. Almost all overland natural gas transportations is by pipeline. Transporting it by truck or barge would increase safety risk, loosing oil, and be more costly
If the load is applied at the mid- length a=b=L/2 then mid span deflection is:
