Mission statements are the values and purpose in which the organization sets standards for achieving their objectives. For the statement to be effective it needs to have a vision of the future, clearly stated values and goals, be positive, inspire, require action, and include everyone (momsteam.com, 2017). With that in mind, Planet Fitness has developed a mission statement that incubuses all the values that the public is looking for. Their mission statement is, “we at Planet Fitness are here to provide a unique environment in which anyone and we mean anyone can be comfortable. A diverse, judgment free zone where a lasting, active lifestyle can be built. Our product is a tool, a means to an end; not a brand name or a mold maker, but a tool that can be used by anyone. In the end, it’s all about you. As we evolve and educate ourselves, we will seek to perfect this safe, energetic environment, where everyone feels accepted and respected. We are not here to kiss your butt, only to kick it if that’s what you need (planetfitness.com, 2017).” Planet Fitness takes a bold stance on treating the public the same, and creating an environment of respect when working out. If you are just starting out or have being working out for years, Planet Fitness has something for everyone. This mission statement describes the company’s values, and is not just empty words it is enforced on a daily basis. When diving in deeper to Planet Fitness’s mission statement there are five questions that need
For me, comfort is most critical when choosing fitness apparel. However, with many people, what to wear, and what not to wear to the gym is a critical question.
Living a healthy lifestyle is a goal many individuals have and that could either be eating vigorous nutritious meals or being active outside in the world, going to the gym for instance. The condition of being physically fit and healthy is what fitness is. Not many people realize the importance of it until they can’t fit in their own jeans. Many individuals argue that there isn’t enough time for the gym or that there is no point in going because it can cause injury, but in reality, it’s all worth it after you realize the outcomes of working out and eating healthy. There is always time to make your life fit and healthier. In order to join this discourse community, a person must learn the typical ways people in that community interact and argue. I will demonstrate that I have entered this discourse community of fitness by obtaining necessary knowledge, establishing strong credibility, and learning to influence other members of the community to strive for more.
Physical Health should be a priority to any human being. We are given one life and should optimize every single day of it. With that, I would enter the Planet Fitness Industry. This company has created; what I believe to be, one of the best environments for getting and/or staying in shape. I do believe a lot of gyms have a judgmental ambience that most people find to be very uncomfortable. So, those people simply opt out of pursuing a membership. I personally have obtained a membership at Planet fitness for over a year now. The environment is exactly how it is advertised to be. Attending this gym has inspired me to do more for any person seeking to better their quality of life. Not a single human should be afraid or feel judged for going to a gym.
Nationally, Orangetheory Fitness is the fastest growing fitness franchise, at least partially due to the innovative ideas it brings to fitness. In detail, Orangetheory Fitness locations in Ann Arbor and nationally are effective in communicating the brand to community members using social media among other tactics. The reason that this brand strategy works is because of the niche industry that Orangetheory Fitness is in: a specialized fitness development program that is beyond just a gym. While there are other fitness centers out there that follow a similar strategy, none of them have established a sense of community, that’s Orangetheory’s competitive advantage.
Operationally speaking, the two franchises operate in a very similar manner with some notable differences. Planet Fitness and Snap Fitness are both self-service facilities open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The support offered by each respective franchisor is essentially the same as it relates to training, marketing and advertising (see Table 2).
The biggest flaw that I believe planet fitness possesses is the fact that they live by the policy “do not cater to body builders,” so that they can create the dream of a “judgement free zone”. I am about to put a huge hole into the logic of this policy. There is no such thing as “judgment free”. Judgement and opinion are natural processing agents within the human mind. Everyone judges everyone whether it is acknowledged that they are doing so or not. Also, if it’s a “judgment free” zone, how come the gym is full of illustrations and slang words directed towards a stereotypical bodybuilder? Planet Fitness is being judgmental their selves. By keeping to this policy, Planet Fitness is not only making itself the laughing stock of the fitness industry, but it is also losing a large, plentiful amount of potential customers. Now that I’ve gotten that flaw out of the way, my second biggest frustration with Planet Fitness is the food and candy the facility offers. When people sign up for the gym, they are also signing a personal contact with their selves to be a better, heathier version of their selves. This process involves not only working out, but it also involves dieting, creating a balanced meal plan based on their goals, and being able to say no to eating poorly all the time and instead
Fitness is in. The percentage of people belonging to health clubs and gyms has doubled over the past 20 years. More growth is expected, fueled by an aging Baby Boomer generation in search of eternal youth and the reality that regular exercise can prevent or control diseases that are driving health care costs relentlessly upward. The 24/7 fitness opportunity is the newest model of fitness centers today.
Lululemon Athletica does not have a traditional mission statement. The fact that they decided to create what they call the "Lululemon Manifesto". This is a series of inspirational sayings that lead one to the way of life in the culture of Lululemon.

The small town of Rapid City, South Dakota has a population of nearly 71,000 residents. The main employer to Rapid City is home to roughly 3,500 military veterans located at Ellsworth Air Force Base. When the term ‘military’ comes to mind, an assortment of words come to mind. Deployment. Family. War. Aircraft. To some though, the word fitness comes to mind first. Everyone knows that in order to be a member of the United States military, you must be fit. Every member of the Armed Forces know that they can be called upon at any time to perform an assortment of tasks, and being physically fit is a priority. Nearly every military base has a gym or fitness facility, but who wants to visit the base after hours to work out? How often do you catch yourself watching the clock, waiting for the hour hand to strike four so that you can check out for the day? Because of this, fitness facilities throughout the city is a hot topic amongst military veterans. Towards the end of 2015, Rapid City was home to three small-scale fitness centers. Because of the lack of choices, of course it made sense to charge steep prices. In December of 2015, that all changed with the arrival of Planet Fitness. Planet Fitness, founded in 1992, focused on reducing prices to compete against the other well-known brands. The organization is an American health and wellness franchise that focuses on a casual, yet personal, gym experience with no judgment or discomfort. Their ‘no judgment’ attitude

The mission statement is a written document that an organization declares its core purpose. The mission statements defines the essence of the organizations needs and their core purpose of their existence. It describes the role that they play in the community and portrays the club’s image, charisma, and individuality. If the mission statement is written correctly it can provide an explanation to internal and external individuals on what the organization stands for. Some of the components that are key to the mission statement are members, product and service, market, technology and philosophy are just a few that should be in the mission statement. Without and effective mission statement to inspire your employees and members on why you exist it won’t mean anything to them. Here is an example of a mission statement from Kohl’s
