This is Sara Pabich a current student at Sturgeon Bay High School interest in a one time scholarship. My consular, Mrs. O’Handley, referred me to about this possible scholarship to help further my education by attending a Pre-College Program at Harvard University. Before going into what I will be studying, I thought I would give a little background information about who I am as a student. I strive to challenge myself in school and beyond the school walls, which is part of the reason I applied for this Pre-College Program at Harvard University. When I first heard about this opportunity, I was intimidated at odds of me getting it. Nonetheless, February of 2017, I decided to apply for an Advanced Placement U.S. History class at school, National …show more content…
The course I have selected to take in an Arthropathy course that studies global health effects by looking into three major cases: AIDS, Ebola and the Earthquake in Haiti. Overall, the goal of the course is to “understand illness as something that happens to the body and something that happening in society”. With further education and understanding of medical crises as something that happens in society, I hope to learn from the mistakes that were made and what could be done differently in the future. The reason that I choose this course is because I am interested in pursuing a medical career. In addition, I feel this class will be engaging to me and would be the beginning in uncovering what the medical fields all entails. Furthermore, the class is taught by a Harvard faculty member. At the end of the program, I will receive a written evaluation from the faculty member as well as a Harvard transcript. On the transcript, it will evaluate me on if I have met the requirements or not. Over the two week course, I will go to classes for three hours a day, plus have two to four hours of homework each day. This will definitely be a challenge for me, but I am ready to take it
The foreclosure crisis is the second major financial dilemma of the twenty-first century. To solve this, the roots of the problem need to be dug up and exposed followed by replanting with an appropriately improved regulatory system to help build stronger roots for the future. It seems that the free market system can't be free anymore given its intertwining roots extend way beyond domestic to international financial systems. There are two fundamental causes to the latest credit crisis: 1) poor quality securitized mortgages and 2) insufficient underwriting for credit poor borrowers. Secondary (downstream) problems making the financial crisis more complex include underemployment and business failures. Many banks,
In my spring 2017 semester Kean awarded me the Freshman Trustee Scholarship for exceptional high school scholastic achievements, such as acquiring a 3.71 unweighted GPA and scoring 27 on the ACT. Whilst having such strong potential for collegiate success, there is a significant demonstrated financial gap in my parents' savings, where I must allocate my job earnings, and the cost for me to independently pursue a college education. Although my brother is diagnosed with severe autism and ADHD, and will remain almost absolutely financially dependent on my parents for his entire life, my source of financial need stems from being the eldest of five. In two years 3/4 of my younger quadruplet siblings, who are juniors in high school, and I will all
My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.
I decided to take this class because I am interested in learning the basics for the medical field. I am interested in being a pediatrician because I enjoy working with children. I look forward to helping families by curing a sickly child or completing a usual check up. No one in my family has entered the field of medicine. I chose the medical field because I feel as if I can provide help for people who need it. Although these are my interest, I am still undecided for what I what for my future and I'm hoping this class can help me make the best
From the time I was born until the age of twelve, my family struggled with the basic necessities of life. My father worked endless hours in a factory, and yet somehow came home with a smile on his face. As a young kid, I never knew we were struggling. The thought had never occurred to me. As I got older I started to realize that my single father was working his life away to care and provide for his two little girls. He completely put aside his well-being because as long as his girls were cared for, nothing else mattered. Life was never easy, but as a young adult today, I have come to accept that my background has been a prerequisite for greatness, for it is our backgrounds that define who we are. The way we are raised, the way we are taught to believe, and the way we are taught to act, make us who we are today.
I intend to use this scholarship to help pay for my tuition and books at the Southern Arizona University of Phoenix- Online. I would like to be considered for this scholarship because I have no financial help from my family. This means that I have to be able to pay for college on my own because of the fact that my father is no longer in my life, and my mom has my other siblings to take care of. My father is no longer in my life because he now lives in Mexico with his other family. I don’t have financial help from him because he has a wife and six other children. My mother would like to be able to help me, but she has two other children she’s taking care of by herself, and she has to prepare for my sister's graduation next year as well as mine this year. I plan to get a job after I graduate to help pay for the expenses of college, but since I am going online the expenses of college are going to be a lot less than if I were to go on campus, this is the main reason I am planning to go online, and to take a lot of the stress of being totally alone off myself because I will only be twenty minutes away from my family instead of an hour or two.
“If you want to get a real education in America you’re going to have to fight” -Mark Edmundson. I have known since as far back as I can remember that I was going to go to college. Regardless of what sacrifices it took to get there. Now after countless hours of studying, missed social outings and numerous student loans, I find myself nearing my third year of college. I have learned from Edmundson you must fight to get a real education in America. On this journey to attain my goals, which are getting my degree in Health Science and applying to the Physical Therapy program at the University of Missouri I have run into another detour. Currently I do not have enough money to pay my current school bill. Winning the JumpStart scholarship will help
Robert Frost once wrote, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference. As a young, educated, black man I have already chosen to take the road less travelled. Life is a journey where you stumble and fall, but I elected to not become a negative statistic. While in high school I decided to start my college education early in the pursuit of bettering my mind and proving to my ancestors that their plight is being well-respected.
In between my eighth grade and my ninth grade year I had an opportunity to help me grow and expand my leadership skills. It was to become a junior counselor at my church bible camp. I would be able to bring gods light to kids and also help relieve the counselors so called weight of responsibilities by taking some responsibilities. I denied it and I really wish I had not because after some thought I decided to give the junior counselor (JC) thing a shot the summer after my ninth grade year.
To become apart of a community that impacts the whole earth and its inhabitants is very important for me to do. I am choosing to further my education at Colorado State University because of the opportunity it will give me to become apart of the natural sciences community. There are many clubs and classes I would love to partake in that have to do with my passions for science. I believe natural science is vital to human, animal, and plant kind alike and should be taken seriously for the sake of the Earth’s future. At Colorado State University I want complete an undergraduate degree and then continue on to the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in hopes of becoming a veterinarian.
Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven-day religion, didn't let her go to the cinema, she always found the way to took me to the cinema. She and I enjoyed watch movies. We used to sit in the darkness room, with our faces illuminated from the reflection of the light which rebooted from the screen, both absorbs in the plot of the movie which made us laughed or cried. After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story
If you were to slowly pour a handful of table salt into an entirely full glass of water, it would not overflow. Actually, the water level would decrease. The world of Chemistry is full of amazing science like this, which is why I am pursuing a degree in Chemistry at Fresno State. I plan on continuing my education after I graduate and earn a masters followed by working in the chemical engineering field. This goal could definitely be hindered by the fact that there are few chemistry scholarships at Fresno State. Scholarships like this will help my parents pay for my education, ultimately allowing me to reach my career goals while remaining debt free. I was awarded this grant last year and it contributed a large portion of my tuition and also allowed me to join one of Fresno State’s “Discovere” program. Discovere courses are general education classes in which tablets are used to collaborate with other students as we work together on class projects.
First, I would like to thank the organizations responsible for funding this research work, including Michigan State University for travel funding supports, and National Institute of Health (NIH) for research funding. I greatly appreciate the investments made by the organizations in my development as a scientist.
Attitude : My attitude toward completing this course is energetic but at the same time nerve-wracking. I am excited to finally gain insight into a subject that interested me least. Although, the nerve-wracking part, because I am a mediocre student. I tend not to do well in certain subjects which doesn’t interest me. However, I think that this course, will help me overcome tough obstacles.
When I first heard about this class, I was an open major at the time, and was looking into Public Health, specifically community and behavior heath, or Health and Human Physiology. I’ve always been interested in health and in all the health classes I’ve taken in the past. I was into all the health problems that some family members of mine have and I wanted to know how to help them, through prevention, or just simply informing them about certain disorders and diseases. I took a class last semester, called Health for Living, and it was an interesting class and opened my eyes more to health issues and how most of them are preventable. That class didn’t help me enough to decide so, I hoped that taking this class might help me a bit more. Last spring when I saw that Fundamentals of Public Health was a course I could take, I signed up right away. I always knew I wanted to help people when I was older, but didn’t know how I was going to do that. I was hoping that if I signed up for this health class, maybe it would give me more insight on some careers in the public health field.
