My academic goals are to complete my bachelor’s degree at UIW then continue my education my earning a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. I have several universities that offer master’s programs online, which so far have worked out well for me and my schedule. With all the research, we have done during this session I still want to follow my professional goals that I started out with when I began classes at UIW which is in the nutrition/dietitian field. However, the research throughout the session has given me insight to all other opportunities in the health care industry that I had very limited knowledge about. Professionally, after completing both degree programs I would like to find a role where I can educate people on the importance of proper
With the observations, the goal was to become aware of what is in store for the future both within school and after graduation. First person observed was Sharon, a dental hygiene student at PIMA, in her 5th semester. To begin her visit, Sharon ensured she had all the necessary paperwork and materials needed for the visit prior to procuring her patient from the lobby. After sitting the patient down, she reviewed his medical history with him and took his vitals, she then turned her light on for an instructor. Once the instructor arrived, she presented the patient and had the instructor sign off on the paperwork. After the instructor left, Sharon quickly began to continue with an oral cancer screening (OCS), noting any findings. From there, she took periodontal probing depths (PPD), gingival margin to cementoenamel junction readings (GM to CEJ), clinical attachment loss (CAL), and periodontal description. Immediately after writing all her notes she turned her light on for an instructor to come evaluate her findings, which is called check in. When the instructor came into the room he sat down and had Sharon read off her findings to him while he did his own exam on the patient. From there, Dr. Burnett came to evaluate the patient. Unfortunately, the 3 hours had pasted by the time all this was done, so the patient was scheduled at a later date for his prophy.
My primary non-academic activities and interests lie in the health and wellness area. I had the opportunity to work in a Co-Operatively Owned Natural Grocery during a summer, and that was what really gave me a passion in the field. I was able to see a whole different side of food’s effects on our bodies. The others who were working in the store had so much knowledge and experience with organic and natural foods. They were so passionate about educating others that they didn’t hesitate to teach and explain to me the importance of it all. Since then, I have become a dual degree student in both Management through the Kelley School of Business and Dietetics through the School of Public Health. With these degrees, I hope to work on the business side
Unfortunately, I missed one of the field placement days. However, I am thankful that the end of the semester for some of my classes meant that I would have the opportunity to make that day up. I decided Wednesday the 20th would be the best day and am glad that I was able to contact a teacher from an area school and get to observe.
We hope his letter finds you well. Per Christina's email sent on November 12, 2015, CARD's services are no longer a fit for Dillon, due to his health issues being a priority. Also, Dillon's scheduled activities will overlap with his therapy sessions; this means he is no longer available for CARD therapy. Cristina also mentioned not being able to attend clinics, due to not being able to take time off of work. Clinic attendance is a crucial aspect of a successful CARD therapy program; and by not attending clinics, Dillon's progress and CARD's clinical recommendations will be hindered. Angelica and I have tried to discuss accommodations with Cristina via phone and in person on November 12, 2015, and again on November 13, 2015, to help continue
On the event date above, CP attempted to conduct a schedule home visits to Selena Goodall residence. The CP was advised by Selena adoptive brother that she was not home. The CP then proceed to call Selena about her whereabouts. Selena apologized to the CP and stated that she is at Myan daycare center picking the child up. The Cp advised Selena that any point that she feels that she is running to call the CP immediately. The CP asked Selena about the status of the speech evaluator and Selena reports that she scheduled an appointment this up coming Saturday. The CP discussed about rescheduling the home visit for next week in the morning before Myan goes to daycare because the CP stated to Selena that the CP is booked in the evening and needs
I know technology is so important for a non-traditional student. Cellular phones are not going to get it done. I will utilize the public library in the area. Also, I am right around the corner from McDonalds and Burger King which all have free WiFi. I have a sister in Memphis Tennessee that has WiFi. My church has free WiFi for the community. We live in a world today where everywhere you go now has WiFi restaurants, hotel, and all government and state faculty. I can ask for permission from my supervisor as
The email is in conjunction with the phone call that took place this morning between you and myself as well as the conversation between Tonjala ( I am unsure of the spelling of her name). On August 12, 2015, at approximately 9:27 pm, I observed that all parking in front of building 2754, 2756, 2758, and 2762 were filled. The only available parking space was approximately 20-30 yards from my apartment building, located on the other side of the garbage dumpsters. In that same location were two young men. There weren't doing anything illegal; however, I did not feel comfortable exiting my vehicle in the poorly lit parking lot with, my young infant child and my work supplies in tow. I would have had to walk past the two young men in darkened parking
My concentration in obtaining an Associate of Science Degree before making the commitment to transfer to a 4 year institution was the rationale for my preferences of higher learning institutions. The colleges/Universities that I am considering are Fullerton College in Fullerton, California and Cypress College in Cypress California. In addition, I also decide on Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California. All three community college campuses offer an Automotive Technology program.
As a counselor assistant, I have been given multiple projects specially during the fall semesters. For example, last spring I was given the tasks to prepare a workshop for undocumented students while preparing for Transfer Celebration Day. Trying to find the information through CSAC and having to contact different vendors for the event was challenging yet rewarding. It was rewarding because I assisted undocumented students that were transferring to a four-year institution by informing them of the financial aid requirements and scholarships. I had to contact multiple CSAC representatives to find out details about the Dream Act application and other vital information. At the same time, I was also contacting vendors that could visit Pierce College
As I observed the class of the experienced practitioner(EP), I noticed that she stated clear objectives, emphasized and worked to meet those specific objectives throughout the plan. She ensured that the lesson was supported with appropriate resources to cater to the needs, interests and abilities of all learners.
I conducted my summer fieldwork as a field coordinator for MAPSCorps, a nonprofit at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. Their mission is to break down social and economic barriers to healthcare by providing free medical, mental health, and reproductive health services to adolescents. The target population is youth from the ages of 10-22 years old of any race, ethnicity, and gender. Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center has partnered up with MAPSCorps to produce data on community assets to link the community to the health services they need.
I have always been interested in academia! That’s why I picked academic pharmacy and professional leadership rotation with Dr. Phelps as my second priority when I had to prioritize my favorite rotations during the Fall 2015 semester. The moment I saw it scheduled for me, I knew it would be a great experience for me to expand my academic background and to improve my professional skills. On the second of May, Jonathan and I started our rotation by meeting Dr. Phelps and introducing ourselves, then Dr. Phelps gave us a brief overview of the academic rotation objectives. We were instructed to work on different projects, self-improvement certifications, building syllabi, and assisting academic administrators if
A. Using the “School Report Card” section of the DESE website as a source, provide the following information about the school in which you are observing: school name, student enrollment, ethnicities of students, attendance, students eligible for free/reduced lunch, staffing ratios, staff years of experience, average salaries, staff with advanced degrees, MAP results (create a chart).
The kids have a short advisory in the beginning of the day, in their homeroom, where they get their laptops for the day. After their first full class, they get about a thirty-minute study period. The teacher explained to me how good this is for the higher functioning students in the school, since they typically have a very heavy course load, its targeted to allow them to complete the many assignments they have. This time is also structured to help the kids who don’t do their homework at home, or cannot do their homework at home. They can continue using their laptops, which is useful since many students might not have that ability at home. The lower functioning kids, who are tracked through their schooling, have the same classes together throughout
When I finish at UIW with an AS degree in Health Science with a focus on nutrition, I plan to go on to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at an accredited college, possibly Arizona State University (ASU online). ASU offers a Healthy Lifestyle Coaching Program that involves a variety of classroom coursework that will give me the ability to work in various areas of nutrition. After I obtain my BS at ASU, I will do my internship at a hospital or a clinic to get my 1200 hours that is required in Dietetic/Nutrition in order to take my exam. The Healthy Lifestyle coaching program will give me the ability to help coach people in the areas of food choices, fitness lifestyle and overall disease prevention by teaching clients to eat healthy.
