Because of the semester time constraints, there would not be three more general body meetings of SGA in time for my second journal. I decided to ask if I could observe one of their executive meetings for my entry, and then attend one more meeting later in April for my final project. This meeting was fairly informal. Members of the executive staff, as well as three or four committee head sat around the table in the SGA office. Lead first by the President, much of the conversation revolved around money. The President spoke for a fair amount of time at the beginning of the meeting, reminding members of the upcoming elections.
“Next year you must be prepared to…”
“I am tried of asking you all for things you know I need”
He spoke fast, and succinct,
The meeting agenda included the topics that were going to be discussed which made the meeting more structured. To start off the meeting, they called the meeting, announced the time and date, took roll call, and then everyone stood up and said the pledge of allegiance. There was a Personal Appearance from Jim Haddock and he first had to state his full name and address. He thanked the city council board for the bills, as he
The meeting had preplanned agendas concerning the planning staff and services to citizens. The types of services are residential, commercial, and industrial land use development ordinances. The meeting opened with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, call to order, determination of a quorum, to ensure all board members are present and adoption of minutes. The Chairman, Mr. Keith Williams, was the moderator and he was very polite and efficient, by giving citizens and local official the opportunity to speak. The atmosphere was very static, because there were great number of residents there awaiting their chance to speak about a certain zoning agenda (City of Gulfport,
Documents three tells us about how they gathered to talk and everything but they didn't allow some people in. They made it clear that only rich people could be in there. Document four tells us about
Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano are both victims of captivity and share their stories through detailed personal experiences in their narratives on captivity. Rowlandson was an American settler that faced the hardship of being captured during a period where tension was high between Native Americans and the American settlers. Equiano shares a similar story growing up in Guinea west of modern day Nigeria, a major slave trade port in Africa where Nigerians were kidnapped and sold into slavery. Comparing the historical context that led to the captures of both Rowlandson and Equiano, to their depictions in their narratives are important because they are the events that took place in society that sparked the narratives of captivity written by
I have been a member of the St. Ambrose Student Government Association for the past two years, serving as Freshmen Class President and Sophomore Class President. My time on SGA has provided me with many opportunities to serve the entire student body, Freshmen through Seniors. In meetings, I have become confident voicing my perspectives and concerns with all members and the executive board. Being on the planning committee for several SGA activities, such as Bee the Difference Day, CommUNITY Day, Student
The meeting agenda included a call to order, roll call, reading of the call, pledge of allegiance, some recognition of county members for service, announcements, and a time for public comment. This happened all within the first twenty minutes of the beginning of the meeting. Then the meeting switched over into having a few appearances, talking about department reports, resolutions in the county, ordinances, annual
The Board President called the meeting to order, and the board secretary did the roll call. The agenda was comprised of various reports and the secretary would go though each agenda item, beginning with the board secretary’s report, finance, personnel, listing of approvals for salaries that included names of staff/faculty, retirements, leave of absences, bills, travel, field trips, etc.
meetings to debate issues before making a final decision. In handling routine tasks, he was
For me, the Student Government Association is not just a student organization. I believe that it is a place for enthusiastic students to share their thoughts and give input on the major aspects of USD. While our school is already amazing, there are still things that can improve. Because of my motivation and desire to make USD the best, I want to serve on SGA. SGA would provide me with the tools to help express not only my views, but also my peers as well.
I thought the meeting was professionally conducted. The meeting respected the schedules of the participants, followed the agenda, and ended the meeting on time. Everyone at the meeting spoke in a professional manner and using appropriate language, and all had the respect for each other. When one speaks, everyone listens attentively.

Executive would be in one group meeting. While the Hispanic community, payers and employees in another group. Once this is over we can look at the lists and see where they all are the same interests and see where they are all different. Since we will not change the similar interest our focus would be on negotiating with stakeholders who have the biggest conflicts. During this negotiation between the stakeholders a discussion about what they are willing to give up and what they want for exchange or what do they requirements or want to see happen in the facilities if they do decide to change. After all groups have met I would take the compilation of the request and concerns to the General Assembly so they can see what the other options of the bill are.

In a global economy controlled largely by the dollar, even hospitals and healthcare providers struggle to find relief of being constrained by money. In May of 1997, Dr. Leo Mercer took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Coast Health Limited (CCH), a public healthcare facility located in New Zealand. Due to his background, Dr. Mercer was the ideal leader for this type of organization, which was currently struggling with the monetary aspect of business development and progression. He understood the nuances of the healthcare world, and even planned to practice medicine at the hospital so that he could “better understand the daily operational situation at the ground level” (Francesco, Hwang, 2005, p.1). Dr. Mercer was responsible for rectifying the organizational financial deficit and finding ancillary solutions for lagging technology, inadequate infrastructure, minimal to non-existent lines of communication and a generally poor level of staff morale. The end-state that Dr. Mercer looked to reach was being a good employer while rendering an exceptionally high level of healthcare, in safe, modern, and dispersed hospitals to clients of Capital Coast Health Limited.
