My goals and challenges are interconnected as they both have matured from my experiences. My career and education goals are to work in the field of psychology as it is something I am very passionate about. The reason why I chose psychology as a career path because having dealt with mental illness I realized that there is a heavy social stigma attached to mental health or other hidden away cognitive illnesses such as depression and anxiety. In my culture, mental illness rarely is given precedence over physical illnesses. Due to having been on the receiving end of this stigma, I started off wanting to just learn and work in the field but my goal evolved into raising awareness and educating the people of my culture and community about mental
Career goals and education at this point is getting my generals done and transferring to a university. My career goals are pretty open, with thoughts toward two complete different fields: business management or early childhood development. A lot of challenges have come from my education. Yes, I went to school my whole life but I changed school around seven different times before settling in one location. My family often moved around a lot because my parents work required us to be close to the surrounding area. Education with my family really pushed me to graduate because not a single member of my family has graduated from high school. For me education
I feel that the Duquesne Psychology program has helped me prepare for careers or graduate school in relevant fields, though there could be some improvements. As an individual who is interested in two fields, one being Integrated Marketing Communications, this leaves me with a lot of possible career paths after university. I am interested in graduate school, but feel as though I need to take some time off before pursing it. After I take this time off, I may pursue graduate school, which I feel that the department has helped me with through the course of university. Though I am scared and nervous of what the future may hold, I know that my time at Duquesne in the psychology curriculum has made me an excellent candidate for a career or graduate
My specific career ideas are still a little vague, but, I do know mental health is something that I am going to pursue in one way or another. Mental health has always intrigued me a little because I had an Uncle with schizophrenia, I never met him and my Mom’s family doesn’t really talk about him a whole lot, but I still think about him a lot. I got to see what happened with his family after, but I can’t see how they were before, and I will always wonder about how he might have influenced my life. My interest in mental health became more directed when I took my first psychology class, the introductory psychology class at Montgomery college in the fall of 2014. I really liked it, partially thanks to the teacher I had, but mostly because it gave me a better understanding of what mental health is. The next psychology class I took was on personalities and it confirmed that psychology and mental health are something I truly am passionate about.

Therapy being a scholarly analyze with the brain as well as actions goes towards Historic Greeks. There is also proof of subconscious believed within ancient Egypt. Psychology seemed to be the branch of philosophy until the 1870s, whenever the idea created just as one separate medical discipline. Psychology edges with a few other career fields as well as physiology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, sociology, anthropology, along with philosophy as well as other pieces of the humanities. In this assigment, I will mention my feature career goals and why they are important not only for me but in order to achieve them properly in the work field .
My interests in Clinical Psychology are aimed toward abnormal psychology and counseling. Psychotherapy comes with the job title of becoming a Clinical Psychologist, which I find the most interesting sector of this profession. While attending San Jose State University I have learned a lot about other careers other than Clinical Psychology, for example – becoming a social worker, human resource management, child psychologist and a probation officer. These are careers I also would consider doing after graduating college.
Outline the key roles of one professional career pathway within applied psychology and critically discuss two research areas addressed within the chosen career pathway.
My entire life I have always been on the search of a career that would fit my persona, fit who I truly am, and to become someone who will constantly have the ability to help people through their difficult problems that they face. Throughout my life I have been deemed the type of person that people felt comfortable coming to with their problems. Maybe people feel this way because they sense that I have a sympathetic ear? Well, all I can say is that human behavior has always seemed interesting to me and that is probably why I made the decision to go down the psychology career pathway.
My subject of attention is school psychology and career choice is school psychology. I have researched this topic and found lots of valuable information to discuss. I will cover all aspects of this career including a definition of what it involves on a day to day basis, why I have chosen this career as my subject of interest, common personality characteristics and values that go along well with this job. I will also talk about the minimum requirements and educational path that must be followed for this career choice along with advancement opportunities. Lastly, I will discuss the leading companies in this area, local perspectives, and present outlooks and salaries that can be expected
When I enrolled into Bryan collage I knew I wanted to work in the psychology field, but not sure what specific area. Honestly, to this day I am still undecided. Working in the school system seems like a job I would enjoy, but there is so much controversy about budgets and cut backs so that scares me a little. I work with children now and their parents so I think I could handle this job daily with no problems. However, I feel drawn to work on the clinical side and have for some time now. There are so many people out there who need help makes me want to join the field that much more. I have nothing but respect for anyone already working in it.
The Psychology career I chose is Counseling Psychologist. A Counseling Psychologist are professionals “ who help individuals strengthen their mental health and get through common life problems with their home, job or social lives” (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015, pg.1). Usually Counseling Psychologists find work at schools, businesses, hospitals or mental health clinics. They have to have an experience of a 1-2 year internship to qualify for a license but first they have to earn a Psy.D. The license these counselors obtain varies depending where they live and is needed to “ deliver mental health services and use the title ‘psychologist’” (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015, pg.1).Counseling Psychologists have to have good communication skills and analytical skills. Annually, Counseling Psychologist earn about
Psychologists are very important people; they help millions of people with their everyday struggles and problems that they have to deal with. Not only do psychologists help people with problems that they cannot handle on their own, they also are scientists who study human minds and behaviors.
I believe that the answers to the greatest questions and problems in life could be gained through a better understanding of the human mind. Psychology is a study of human behaviors and trying to understand why we do the things we do. Because of this I would be interested in a career in psychology though there are many different career fields within psychology. I would be most interested in a career in health psychology though there’s an extensive learning process. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills, and talents needed salary and benefits offered and duties for a particular career when making this decision.
Psychology is the study of the mind, its biology, and behavior if the individual. The father of psychology, Wilhelm Wundt, used objective measurement and controlled analyzing to find and emphasize separation between psychology and philosophy (McLeod). Wundt opened the Institute for Experimental Psychology at the University of Leipzig in Germany in 1879, using his background in physiology to study reactions and sensations (McLeod). There is no doubt that he, along with the later help of Sigmund Freud, launched what is now modern psychology. Psychology and its research helped the world understand the inner workings of the mind and how it affects everyone around us.
I want to be a psychologist. I would love to learn all about the way people act, think and feel and at the same time try to help them. I have a very easygoing personality and I love to have fun and laugh. I ask a lot of questions, and I think I am very easy to get along with. Some career goals I have is to finish college, I would like to find a job I want to keep that I could make a career out of, and just take it one day at a time because I have desire to make the right decisions and live a pleasant life.
