The ABC’s and 1, 2, 3’s 1. I will be researching the career elementary education. Elementary education has always interested me. This career interests me because I love working with children and watching them interact with one another. I didn’t know until recently that I wanted to pursue a position in this career because I hadn’t really thought about it. Now I am certain that this is what I am interested in doing in the future. Becoming a teacher is a lot of work and schooling. 4. Taking classes in highschool that have to do with your career interests will help you out tremendously in the future. For this field of work, you are required to have knowledge in mathematics, engineering

Some teachers may prefer to continue their work after hours doing things such as grading papers, meeting with a student 's parents, and preparing lessons ahead of time (bls.gov). All of this work pays off in the summer when there is a three to four month long break. Some teachers prefer to work or travel during this time. Most jobs are extremely time consuming, but with this job you are usually able to manage your time a lot more efficiently and still have a decent amount of family time.
Finding work as a teacher is surprisingly easy. 3. There are many organizations or companies that would employ people in this occupation. Some examples are business and communication centers, colleges and universities (depending on how high of a degree in education a person obtains), boards of education, community organizations, and even daycares (What Can I Do With This Major.com). 15. There are also many professional organizations associated with this occupation such as your State and Local Education Association, and different internet sites (OK college start.org). Getting involved with some of these organizations, in my opinion, will help a person who has this career interest extremely. Having extra practice and experience is always a good thing.
14. “Employment of kindergarten and elementary school teachers is projected to grow 6 percent from 2014 to 2024” (bls.gov). This growth is
Before getting a teaching degree, the individual will need to take regular high school classes, such as math, science, English, and psychology, have two years of a foreign language and should consider participating in a teacher’s aide program. Then one must continue onto a four year college to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. The placement for an elementary teacher is quite high and it shouldn't be that difficult to find a job. Also, to increase the chances of getting a job and to increase your salary, a person should also get a Master’s Degree. It is not required but it looks better and often helps the employability of a future education.
There are numerous reasons for teachers to take a break from teaching in the summer months. “Summers off has long been the light at the end of the tunnel for teachers, particularly in urban areas with higher discipline problems and overcrowded classrooms” (Lynch). This was stated regarding the traditional school system. In a year-round setting however, the lengthy breaks are replaced with shorter and frequent breaks. Though the loss of those summer months may at first seem like a downside, many teachers end up liking more time off. Teachers simply need the summer time break to “recharge their batteries” from a busy, overwhelming, and time consuming year. An unmotivated, drained teacher has a direct negative effect on the young students in his or her classroom.
To become an Elementary School Teacher you must first receive your Degree in Early Childhood Education. If you choose to further your education it could result in a higher salary, but you must have at least your bachelors to start. The daily requirements or duties according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, elementary school teachers instruct students on subjects such as mathematics, reading, science, and social studies. Elementary school teachers motivate and inspire young children to develop a lifelong love of learning and education” (Kelchner, Luanne. “Task and Responsibilities of Elementary School Teachers” work.chron.com. Houston Chronicle, n.d. Web. 9 May. 2016. )
For example, if I wanted to become a teacher the income or salary I would earn is $58, 170 per year. The type of education I will have to pursue to achieve my goal to be a teacher are English classes, Bachelor’s degree, math ,and science. There are more subjects that teachers will have to take to educate students. 3,388,100 teachers are employed in United States. Also, teacher are not easy to get the job in this field.
Summer vacation, jobs, extra-curricular activities, all of these things are traditional to the three month cession from school. Indeed, year round schooling will reduce the availability and practicality of summer jobs, and child care for the times where students do not have school and are too young to be home alone will not be easily obtained, but there are many benefits to a consistent learning schedule. Shorter breaks allow for a higher preservation of information, while still allowing for students to relax and take time off. The multiple breaks for a shorter period of time also allow for families to take vacations while not feeling obliged to be doing something at all times. Summer breaks, in regards to the length of time, are unnecessary in multiple senses, as the extended period of time of lethargy increases the likelihood of weight gain and a loss of previously gained
Planning vacations with their family becomes difficult, especially if their kids attend a different school than the one at which they work. If teachers have young children who are not on the same schedule, they must find childcare during the summer which takes money out of their pockets. Not only is it inconvenient for their personal life, but year-round schooling causes complications for their work as well. Many educators count on the summer to get ready for the next school year. Because the end of one session and the beginning of the next are only one week apart at some schools, teachers are left with little preparation time (Towler). Another way teachers utilize the summer break is by attending college classes to continue their education. Many lower level teachers go on to attain a professional level degree. If these teachers are having to work through the summer, this makes it difficult to attend college
With the schedule we have now, the students and teachers get to have longer breaks. Both teachers and their students make plans for school breaks, especially winter break and summer break. Teachers might need the break time in the spring and winter to finish grading papers or make lesson plans. Some teachers say that students should use their break time to study,
Summer break is the time for students and teachers to relax and rejuvenate for the upcoming school year. If there are only short breaks, it might “not be enough to offset the ongoing stress” teachers face with preparing lessons and grading. (Seattle PI). Students and teachers alike look forward to summer where they can have fun and time to themselves. Also, not all learning comes from a classroom. During summer, kids can be exposed to art and culture. They can spend time finding their hobbies or devote their time to a sport or extracurricular activity. Those experiences can never be recreated in a classroom.
Year-round schooling even brings Summer break difficulties, given the seemingly endless school year. If students are still in school over the Summer, it’s difficult for parents to schedule meaningful family time. Students are even missing out on unique, important learning opportunities. Missing out on experiences and lessons you can’t get in a classroom. Summer break is the main relief teachers have after an intense school year.
So you want to be an elementary school teacher? It’s a challenging career, requiring patience and social skills, as you have to be able to wrangle a room filled with rambunctious children. Once you get through the tough stuff, the career is filled with immeasurable rewards. Being an elementary school teacher is not just going into a classroom and teaching kids how to add numbers, where something is on a map, or how to write. This career is far deeper than that, you will build a relationship with each and every student and ultimately build the foundation of the students’ future education. Elementary school teachers guide their students through a crucial period in their lives. This career is a good choice for people who want to make a
As a child, most children can’t wait to complete school and be an adult. There are a select few that realize they want to return to school, but as a teacher. A teacher commonly works regular school hours, when students are present. However, sometimes a teacher comes early or stays after school to talk or help a student, meet with parents, or consult with other teachers. Weekends may also be spent grading papers and preparing for the next lessons. A traditional work year is ten months of school, a mid-winter break during the seasonal holiday, and two months off for summer break.
My whole childhood I always dreamed about being a teacher. During school breaks, weekends, and summers, I would set up a “classroom” in my basement and my friends and I would play school. I would be the teacher most of the time. It takes a very special person to be a teacher, not everyone is teacher material. You have to be very patient, kind, and caring of all students you work with and encounter through your day and year.
A four-year degree is a requirement in most various professions although the salaries show a significant range in the pay scale. In order to become a teacher in any state a Bachelor’s Degree must be
My goal is to become a preschool or kindergarten teacher. I first realized teaching was a career I wanted to pursue in junior high school. I had my first educational experience when I was elected the Health and Safety Officer for my 4-H group. This position entailed providing material on the related health issues and possible disease complications for the animal being raised. When presenting the material needed, I realized I needed to keep the group focused. This meant presenting the information not only in a lecture format but also in an interactive approach, one that allows for active and engaged learning. When realizing the group members learned from my presentation I felt very accomplished having met the goals for my position.
There are many steps to becoming an educator. It is a process that is not easy, it is challenging. Many times, you will find yourself wondering if you are cut out for the education field. Once you have become an educator, that same questions will come up many times throughout your years. Being an educator is a not a field you go into knowing exactly what you need to do, you will be, thrown many curve balls and face many obstacles that the long process you went through to become an educator, could never prepare you for many of the situations you will face.
