In every walk of life there is some type of organizational structure, whether school, churches, social, sports, or labor, organizational issues, culture, and management change. The world of organizational development (OD) presents professional approaches to weakness and strengths used to turn negative outcomes into positive one and develop strategies that will promote productivity, effective growth and profits. “Successful change in organizations happens with specific purpose and requires leadership” (Brown, 2012, p. 1). The use of needs analysis, force field analysis, and various surveys will help develop a good diagnosis of my store. Finding the right balance between tactical and strategic service is the real equation to solve, (Reynolds, 2010) and this is done by proper diagnosis.
Creating a model to provide suggestions and guidance to make sure my business continues to operate will mean developing an action plan. This plan is a called the organizational development process model. The first phase is to create a plan to improve customer service, add new products or product lines, determine best vendors offering best prices, lower expenses, and finally provide training for employees. OD works to help management and employees on a variety of levels. Organizational development is perhaps unequaled in its ability to meet any type of organization needs. However, the solutions developed from the role of OD may not be necessarily interchangeable with different organizations (Grant, 2010).
