The material that I like the most among materials in this class until now is reflected best self (RBS) exercise. This exercise gives me what my strength is from my view, and the other. I believed that I was the one that knew my strength the most. However, after I asked my friends and family members, I got the other idea about me. I have known what I have never known. It is interested and useful. My mind is changed, and I know what my strength is better than before. For this reason, I guess I can use this exercise when I work. I might ask everyone in my team to do this exercise if my team has sometimes. We might know each other strength and work together efficiently. If everyone honestly does this RBS exercise, I can decide which team member
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
Based on the Clifton Strengths Assessment my top five strengths are strategic, deliberative, learner, maximize and individualization. As an individual, I rarely look into my weakness. I believe that when your too focused on your weakness, you forget about your strengths. Everything the book said is true, and we need to take the time to look at our strengths and make it perfect. It is true that in this world or the school system, we are taught to look at our weakness and correct it so that we can become stronger in our life. This book brings out the truth that I longed to hear for a long time. Invariably, I hear my professor tell their students that for them success in life, they must practice and look at our weakness. This book proves it wrong because for us to become successful, we must stay to our strengths’ path.
Tom Rath’s “Strengths Finder 2.0” on-line assessment identified that my top five strengths are: Strategic, Focus, Futuristic, Significance, and Learner. I see the Strength Finder Assessment as a great opportunity to get to know my personal strengths and it motivates me to work and practice my talents rather than trying to fix my weaknesses. Looking only at my strengths is a new type of skills-building which allows me to stay focus on my talents.
I wanted to know how often this is used and comes into play. Jenn explained how the strengths based is one of the methods she uses frequently, depending on the situation and the client. Strengths based can help someone who’s going through a difficult time realize their strengths and worth by you pointing it out to them and using them to help solve problems. Many people do not realize they have these strengths and pointing them out helps empower them.
This week’s assignment started by directing us to complete a self-assessment, which I felt was a well laid out chart with established skills and a level in which to rate yourself from 1 being poor up to 5 being good. I think it was a good exercise, giving us a better insight to our strengths and weaknesses. I do in fact think that I learned something new about myself and could more easily answer the question of “tell me your strengths and weaknesses”, which is often asked at interviews or promotion boards.
As I worked as a behavior therapist my job was to implement programs created by my supervisors for the participants. I did not have many chances to assess the children I worked with before working with them as it had already been done. However, I have had many opportunities throughout the program to practice the techniques it takes to understand the underlying reasons for specific behaviors that are in need of change. I have also had the chance to practice using ABC (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence) recording forms to identify the function of tantrum behavior.
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five greatest strengths were Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Relator, and Competition. However, I was skeptical about the initial results until I read what each strength entails. I found most of the information given to be accurate. According to the description of those strengths, I discovered that I use them daily without realizing it.
For this project you will be completing the StrengthsQuest exercise and then compiling the information and findings comparing your personal strengths with your current job.
Tom Rath began working with a group of scientists in 1998 to start a conversation about our strengths (Rath, 2007). A 40-year study, led by Donald O. Clifton, helped to create a language of common talents, and in 2001, included this assessment into their bestselling management book Now, Discover Your Strengths (Rath, 2007). During their study, they found out that “people who do have the opportunity to focus on their strengths every day are six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs and more than three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life in general” (Rath, 2007, pg. iii). A major problem with this was a majority of people were either unsure of or unable to explain their strengths (Rath, 2007). When developing StrengthFinder 2.0, the ultimate goal was to build upon your true strengths which take practice and hard work (Rath, 2007).
Discovering ones strengths is an important process that every young adult should strive to achieve, that is why I was excited to take the Gallup Strengthfinder Assessment. This test aims to highlight each individual’s unique assets, which is possible by completing a short evaluation. Then the poll produces the top five signature themes out of thirty-four possible options. Like many, I was very eager to learn something new about myself. This came as no surprise once I received my test results which are closely related to knowledge.
Nested in the constructionist theories, the communication involved within the collaborative activities provides the opportunity for both internal and external reflection. Internal reflection shows me where my mental obstacles are, why they exist, and allow for starting point from which true personal growth can occur. External reflection allows me to observe others and the way in which they function under different conditions and in different situations.
Look Back: Last week, I was not feeling well thus, I decided not to come to clinical placement due to flu symptoms.
In this way physical training projects propose a differing qualities of exercises to meet and amplify understudy intrigues. Wellness advancement turns out to be more methodical. Understudies create particular wellness segments, set objectives and evaluate individual wellness levels. Collaboration permits understudies to assume better liability for choice making furthermore permits colleagues to control a greater amount of the work strategy. This can prompt enhanced confidence as understudies acquire power and ownership over the arrangement they are taking a shot at. The extra obligation can prompt an all the more compensating work encompassing and lower turnover. Taking a shot at a group likewise gives understudies a superior feeling of having a place and of affirmation, which helps them take more pride in their work, and their school. Collaboration can help organizations to be more adaptable. By bringing workers from particular parts of an arrangement together into one group, issues or bottlenecks can once in a while be resolved all the more easily. Case in point, car producers may in some cases utilize this procedure when planning
Hearing the hard truth from a group of your peers is one of the hardest things to set through. It’s difficult whether you are receiving good or bad feedback. I gave three of my peers my Strength Quest assignment and asked the required question. I opened the conversation by letting them know that I need constructive criticism. I also asked each of my peers to be 100% honest in their assessments.
Influencing strategies exercise self-assessment questionnaire show me my areas of strength and needing improvement. The result of this exercise forces you to think of ways to improve strategies. Looking at the scores, and see the actual areas I am strength was quite surprising. This is telling me that I really do now know my worth. The following are my scores.
