I originally signed up for this class because I thought that improvisation would be interesting, since I never really understood the concept. My skills were not the sharpest because improvisation requires quick thinking and learning to be a leader. I was nervous about taking this class because I had seen some improve videos and they also required acting, although I had done oral language in middle school. This seem much more difficult because it required quick action, where oral language was memorizing a script and acting it. I thought that this class would me similar to communications, but this first time I step in the class room I knew that this class would offer me with great skills in the future. Improvisation has taught me many things, it has taught me that listening is essential to improvisation. Before I took this class my listening skills were terrible and like Professor Boeck stated “sometimes we just listen to respond, but not to understand”(class Lecture). That statement made me understand what it truly meant to listen, because I would just …show more content…
There is a lot of aspects to improvisation, but I feel most comfortable with the play aspect of it. I feel like I am free when I play and I can let go of all the stress that I am carrying. This aspect also teaches me that sometimes just letting go of the stress is not only beneficial for the mind, but also for the body, because stress can bring physical symptoms and it benefits no one . Playing is not just about having fun, but your also improving your social skills because I tend to be shy when I do not know people and I think with the aspect of play I have learned to better socialize and have better interpersonal skills. The were we became music machines was amusing, because I didn't have to think outside the box instead I had to follow the rhythm that my classmates were following. This exercise felt like I was actually playing and I was enjoying the

I have always had a musical talent, and I was over-joyed when my parents decided to sign me up for piano lessons. When I was younger, I just liked playing the songs my teacher assigned me. When I was older, however, I began to see music in a different light. Playing other musicians' songs has given me a glimpse of how other people view the world. When a musician composes a song, a piece of his heart goes into it. When I play their songs, I see a hint of what is in their soul. This has had me reflect on how I view the world. When I play the songs for an audience, they are able to feel a little of what the artist and I are
This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:
When I first began playing the clarinet, eight years ago, I would have never expected it to impact my life in such a significant way, but it did and continues to each year. From the second that I picked up a clarinet and played a single note, I knew it was an experience like no other; music is a unique language, it speaks words that many can hear, and brings people of all races and religions together. Playing an instrument is a way of self-expression, both individually and as a group; bringing musicians together to create a work of art. I have experienced this throughout all eight years as a musician with students from my school, in both concert band and marching band, students from surrounding schools, during band fest, junior district band, and district band, as well as members of my church, at worship services. Music can bring the most unexpected
Pursuant to California Vehicle Code (40902), I plead not guilty by Trial by Written Declaration of the charges of CVC 22349 (b). I have paid the fine of $352 and have attached the receipt to the case as instructed.
In the first grade, I picked up a clarinet. It was my sister’s, collecting dust while waiting for me to play it. From the moment I produced my first sound, an ear-piercing squeal that frightened my dog, the path of my life took a turn for the better. I began teaching myself for the following three years, along with learning from my sister how to properly play the beautiful instrument. The music pushed me out of my comfort zone: concerts that forced me onstage, tests that made me play difficult songs, and teachers that pushed me to be an exceptional player. From the shy elementary school student I used to be to the outgoing band member I take joy in being today, music has shaped my everyday life.
Being a musician, I've learned not only to play music, but also skills applicable to the real world. Perfecting an etude teaches you that patience is a virtue and that sometimes, the smallest details can make a significant difference. As a member of the marching band, you realize how invaluable good teamwork is. If one person slacks off, the entire band suffers.
I have always enjoyed music since I picked it up my first alto sax in the 6th grade. Of all the enjoyment music gave me and all its feelings it can create I could finally make some of my own. For the 7 years I have been playing in school it still remains a large part of my life. It gives me a great enjoyment to push myself everyday to do better. The dream of one day playing in a great college jazz ensemble propels me forward in my music because of the disadvantage of my school's jazz program. Playing saxophone in a classical and jazz context is what makes me a perfect fit for Sam Houston State University.
Coming into this class, I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course,I expected to be writing a lot but was unsure of the type of writing and the style. I was looking forward to writing challenging pieces that stretching me creatively as a writer. I wanted to explore how to express myself in my writing because it had been a long time since I'd written a creative essay. One of my main hopes for this class was challenging myself to become a better editor of my own papers. I often find it a tedious and laborious process to find and edit the grammatical errors in my papers. However, this is an important skill that I need to develop for my future as a successful writer.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. I will identify and discuss the challenge I have faced with my identity and how this has impacted on my development.

A load of research has been done on learning and reflective practice and its effectiveness on the practitioners and one of the first people to research reflective Practice was Donald Schon in his book “The Reflective Practitioner” in 1983. Schon was an influential writer on reflection and had two main ways of identifying reflection and they were reflection in action and reflection on action.
Applying all the game concept done to my life at first I was quiet scared of the fact that I wouldn’t be able to do well as excepted by the professor and the students, I was wrong the professor or my classmates isn’t excepting me to be a pro or get it right at once, this as made me ready to be told you are doing it well and you aren’t getting it well knowing that no one would judge me that am not good as an improviser instead everyone would be ready to help me get it right and I am willing to fail, take risk at the end learn a lot things I never excepted to learn as an improviser.
While registering for the semester I noticed this course and thought it would be very beneficial for both my personal and professional lives. I felt I was in need of learning new techniques and regimes to reduce stress, increase productivity, and learn to efficiently and effectively relax in order to improve my communication. I mean who wouldn’t want to learn how to relax and receive credit hours at the same time. With that being said I immediately signed up, and for once I was excited opposed to being nervous of the unexpected like I was for previous courses I have taken. Another perk to this class was seeing that Professor Mantel was the instructor. I had taken one of her workshop previously (Humor in Communication), and not only did I learn several beneficial ways to communicate through humor, but the workshop was very interesting and entertaining.
