My first major essay was to write about an issue in the State of California. The subject of an issue that is taking place in California alone and how it can relate to our major. I wrote about the California NFL Teams Relocating to LA. I focused on this because it relates to my field of study in Kinesiology-Sports Administration Emphasis. The paper in my opinion seemed easy to obtained information, with the issue still being ongoing event. In my research, I found a lot of arguments on “Why the teams should move to LA?” and also “Why the teams shouldn’t move to LA?” I found that the research part of it was a bit more difficult than I thought. Even though this was an ongoing event, some of the research was harder than I expected. There was too …show more content…
I wrote about the roles of NFL Scouts, because it’s my profession after I am done with school. I just recently started to do my own Scouting reports on draft prospects on an online community blog to help myself to get some experience in the field. This doesn’t duplicate the real experience of access scouts get to teams, but it’s a start somewhere. In this case, I got to interview a former scout who worked his way up. I interview Dan Kelly who was a former scout and gave me a lot of details and information in the scouting industry. I really liked this essay because it was about something we liked or love which would be much easier to write for me. The hardest part of this essay was trying to find academic sources to help me with my paper. The academic I found was about the NFL Draft success and how it was translated to the field. This was too much information to dissect for the audience in a 5-6 page max essay so I didn’t use much academic sources. I did in a matter of fact obtain a lot of good information and insight to the scouting industry. Hopefully this would help me have more knowledge about the industry and make it easier to break into the field. I liked this essay because it was something I love doing and it was easier to cover in an
If I had a ticket to go anywhere, I would go and see the Dallas Cowboys because it is my biggest dream because it's my favorite team It is my favorite team because I love what the team represents, the players who have played for the team and how to put the desire to win every game of the week For example, dallas cowboys is awesome for their aerial game style and positive mindset to win all their matches.
1. Discuss the factors that have resulted in the NFL becoming “America’s Game” and the
The NFL was founded on September 17, 1920 and was known as the American Professional Football Association (APFA). It was renamed in 1922 as the National Football League or NFL. In 1920 there were eleven football franchises to form the first professional football league compared to the 32 teams that form the league now. The original teams are: Canton Bulldogs, Cleveland Tigers, Dayton Triangles, Akron Professionals, Rochester (N.Y.) Jeffersons, Rock Island Independents, Muncie Flyers, Decatur Staleys, Chicago Cardinals, and Hammond Pros. Jim Thorpe was elected as the league's first president. In 1970 NFL's rival league AFL merged their schedules and formed two conferences in which the AFL became AFC and NFL became NFC.
The NFL has become the most popular sport in the United States. It is watched my millions every weekend. The NFL is only growing in popularity. With new fans joining the fun every day. The NFL has faced its share of problems too. With concussions scaring away many future players, the NFL is hoping to lower the possibility of concussions in the future. Each NFL team plays a total of 16 games over a span of 17 weeks. There are two conferences in the NFL, the AFC and the NFC. There are four divisions in each conference, each with 4 teams. The playoff teams are decided by the division rankings. The winner of each division makes the playoffs, with the two best 2nd place teams making it in as a wild card.
Football is an American sport that consists of two teams composed of 11 men. On the 100-yard field, they go head to head, trying to keep the other team from advancing the ball down the field toward the end zone, resulting in a touchdown or field goal. Football pits the two teams against each other. The offense, which possesses the ball, is placed against the defense, which tries to prevent the offense from advancing the ball. Several different resources can contribute to a team’s success. Some of those resources are funds, talent level of players, and favorable position on the field, which makes it easier to score points. The four sociological perspectives, structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, and social exchange theory, all credit different reasons for one team being able to achieve this goal more often than another team. Nevertheless, any of the sociological perspectives you view the sport from, football is a very complex entity. Football is more than just a group of men pounding one another. There is a complex equation that eventually equals success; the differences between these perspectives are the components of the equation that are most heavily weighed on for success. Although it may be a combination of all three perspectives that leads to success in football, it is fair to look at the game from each perspective individually because each holds important insight into what truly leads to a successful football team.
The University of Nevada Reno’s Football program officially started fifty years ago in the October of 1966. At the same time the team was established, Mackay stadium was built which seated only 7,500 people at the time. After numerous amounts of renovations, the stadium now seats 26,000 people and the football games are very loud and exciting. Being a football player and student myself, I get to hear what other people outside the football program perceive of us as around campus when we win, lose, or just in general about the football program. Most comments and accusations I have heard have been false and negatively based. What most people do not see is the hardwork and dedication it takes to be apart of the football program and the impact it has on the coaching staff, the community, and also, the inseparable bond it creates between the players.
On Sunday afternoon, the Philadelphia Eagles opened up the 2016 regular season against the Cleveland Browns. While all the attention was on rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, who was making his NFL debut. The Eagles' wide receivers stepped up big time, leading them to a 29-10 victory.
The Carolina Panthers had to come out of the locker room after the first half needing to get something going if they were going to come back and beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. The first half was dominated by the defense. Whose defense would be able to hold out for the rest of the game would determine who would win the Super Bowl.
This is an action by the owner of a professional basketball team for breach of contract by a former coach and for the inducement of that breach by the owner of another professional basketball team. Judgment was entered on a jury verdict for $250,000 against the coach and for $175,000 against the inducing owner. We reverse and remand with directions.
Founded on September 7th, 1630, Boston was one of the largest cities in North America, and was also a hotbed for revolutionary Patriots in the late 1700’s. Yet very little meaningful fighting happened around this area, despite its size, and the some 28,000 men in and around it. It was because of the Continental Army's lack of discipline, trained officers and adequate equipment, and the British force's laziness around orders and lack of enthusiasm for going on the offensive that made the Siege of Boston an avoidable, and pointless stalemate.
The Washington Redskins have had the name since they began playing in the NFL. Its name does not have anything to do with the team, however, the connotation of the word “Redskin", negative and a derogatory term, shows why the Washington Redskins should change their name. Charles Krauthammer explains his reasons of why they should change the name of the team by using the example of the word “retarded” as it is now, not associated with being dumb or insufficient intelligence, rather “developmentally disabled”. He later explains how someone would not simply go up to someone and call them “retarded” due to the connotation it has. Krauthammer also recognises the fact that there are still people to this day who “contain sentimental and historical
I disagree with California’s ban on the word “Redskins”. Schools in California should not have to change their mascots because of a word. The word “Redskin”, in my opinion, is not offensive. California is making a big deal about the word “redskin” when there’s more important things to worry about. I don’t understand how banning the word “reskins” is setting a shining example for other states across the country. That’s why I disagree with California’s ban on the word “redskins”.
In the recent years, there have been lawsuits after lawsuits filed against the NFL, after more and more retired football players have been diagnosed with brain damage resulting from concussions during their career.

Does anyone care for Sunday night football? This is not just any Sunday night NFL game, but the biggest sporting event in the world that 151 million people will watch in 232 different countries. (“By the Numbers”). Welcome to the Super Bowl.
