Personal Reflective Statement
Description
I have chosen to use the Gibbs model to present my reflective statement. ‘It is not sufficient to have an experience in order to learn. Without reflecting on it it may be quickly forgotten, or its learning potential lost’ (Gibbs, 1988).
In the first project of semester one I, as part of a team, produced a booklet to help improve student’s understanding of how to reference APA style. I was initially unsure as to what APA style referencing meant and on reflection I feel I should have done some research into this earlier to ensure that I could contribute as much information as possible to my group work. This is important as referencing is a crucial skill that needs to be adopted by university students as it ensures ‘You are not ‘plagiarising’ their work’ (Stella Cottrell, 2013).
Moreover, in project two my team and I had to create a campaign that could be used to raise awareness of the work opportunities available to first year Northumbria University students, such as internships, volunteering and work placements. Employers don’t just want graduates with a 2:1 or a first, but also those who have participated in extracurricular activities (Maryvonne Lumley & James Wilkinson, 2014).
Thoughts/Feelings
I expected that my team would face initial challenges in deciding who would be project manager as there were some big personalities in my group which could clash over this decision. However, each person was given the opportunity to voice
The librarian visited our class to do a presentation regarding the APA Citation Style and Plagiarism. I have learned a lot more information on how to avoid plagiarism and how to cite it appropriately. APA offers guidelines for overall paper layout, citations, abstract, style, and references. Students are often asked to adhere to the APA guidelines when writing papers, research essays, and reports. Understanding and following the rules of APA can assist a student in writing a well-formatted and professional looking academic paper.
This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:
Pursuant to California Vehicle Code (40902), I plead not guilty by Trial by Written Declaration of the charges of CVC 22349 (b). I have paid the fine of $352 and have attached the receipt to the case as instructed.
The purpose of this assignment is to self-reflect on what has been learnt in the topic this semester and how it is going to influence as a health professional in our chosen field. This assessment is made to encourage us to be able to identify the values and beliefs we have as individuals and how these impact on our ability to interact without others in a diverse society. This self-reflection will include the results from an Implicit Association Test to help gain a greater awareness of my own unconscious thoughts as well as evidence from reliable sources to help back up statements and give evidence to support this assessment.
This reflection will discuss personal diffidence and how it has influenced my academic studies, including my practice within placement settings. Gibbs reflective cycle (Gibbs, 1998) has been utilised as it illustrates a clear structure for the process of reflection. To conclude this reflection will draw together the themes which have emerged and highlight a clear action for future learning that will be used in order to enhance my future practice.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. I will identify and discuss the challenge I have faced with my identity and how this has impacted on my development.
Vital signs are a fundamental component of nursing care and indicate the body’s ability to maintain blood flow, regulate temperature and regulate oxygenate the body tissue. As a researcher, the APA style helps to build credibility. By properly citing research references and displaying an understanding of the development of ideas, a researcher gives credit to original owner of intellectual property. This is not only the ethical thing to do, it documents the development of ideas. By using proper APA guidelines for in-text citations, referenced materials are acknowledged immediately. The full reference citations at the end of the article or paper allow the reader to easily find the referenced resources and understand the author’s ideas in the context of the current knowledge within the field (Hicks, 2006). This ability of readers to follow the development of an idea, or to refer back to an original concept, is essential in an academic setting. Presenting the information in clear, uncluttered sentences convey both meaning and focus. The aim of APA writing style is to eliminate unnecessary wordiness, passive voice, poor grammar, and The formal tone associated with academic writing demonstrates the ability of the writer to distill an idea or argument down to the most precise
This key experience challenged me to learn very early on that I had quickly formed an opinion of the individuals I was working with, which caused me to judge these clients based on what I thought I knew. I felt very quickly in my work with these individuals that the older gentleman would need more help with activities as I felt he likely had a learning disability based on the fact that he walked a little slower as if shuffling and the fact that his speech was not clear. The younger gentleman I felt would be easy to work with as I did not anticipate or note any areas that I felt he would have difficulty in. There was no concrete evidence to support my assumptions, they were solely based on my
This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best patients outcome.

I would express my feelings towards reading and writing as ambivalent. Before I entered high school I would have not even
I am going to introduce the Gibbs model into my Reflective Essay. I have chosen the Gibbs reflective cycle because it is more beneficial to my own experience in education. Gibbs believes that all six stages must be completed in order to be able to reflect correctly and move on. The model in question l is clear and concentrates on feelings. (Bassot, 2016)
During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. I believe that I have made sufficient progress towards becoming a better
The writing I did this semester for Engl 110c has meant alot to me because I was able to pick a topic that has such a huge impact in my life. I was able to do the topic about Navy Wives, which has a huge impact on me. I recently became a navy wife a year ago and my life has changed drastically. I was able to share everything I wanted to about the life of a military wife through my writings, as well as share to my classmates about my topic. I really enjoyed creating my ePortfolio because I could come out of my shell and be me. I made a ePortfolio website that would be for military wives to read. I believe this website would be perfect for any military wife reading it. I was able to give tips and information on what it’s like to be a military wife, how to prepare for deployments and how to stay strong being a military wife.
