If religion is a mythology, then is a mythology a religion? Well, Religion and mythology may seem like too different things, but yet they still do overlap on some aspects. Both talk about a system that has a high importance to many people. Religion is based an organized collection of beliefs, culture, and perspectives, that’s spread around the world. Personally I believe in Islam, the religion. In Islam we believe that god (Allah) is the creator and sustainer of every living thing. We believe that god created the world, universe and the heavens, just like many other religions. Also, the founder of Islam is Muhammad; to Muslims he is Allah’s prophet. I believe that Islam is different than mythology because myths don’t have a known founder. They were just passed down through generations until someone decided to write them down. Unlike Islam, Native American mythology believes that the world was created by a crane. Natives mostly use animals as the center of their mythologies. Also, the natives believe."God made some men of mud, but they were very soft and limp and couldn 't see. They could speak, but what they said didn 't make sense. When they got wet they couldn 't even stand up. God saw that they were of no use so he broke them up.” Muslims also believe that humans are made of clay, the devils made of fire, and the angles out of
In the article “Redefining Myth and Religion: Introduction to a Conversation,” Dr. Loyal D. Rue discusses how science, religion, and myth are related and how they coexist. Some people may argue that science and religion should not coincide and that they are opposites. However, Rue argues, “…In an ideal world, the vocabulary of science would inform the myth that binds together the culture.” In this statement, Rue claims that science can be used to help explain the supernatural phenomena that religion and myths describe. Science is not anti-religion; it helps us to explain religion in ways that humans can understand.
Religion was involved with many things in a person’s life. It affects things like social status, relationships, the economy, culture, and politics. The complex ideas of religion and politics have shaped societies. The Puritans have set their goal to make their society and way of living connected to God in every way, shape, and form. In the seventeenth century this standard to keep God by your side has deeply affected politics and lawmaking, and has even caused some people to be continuously persecuted. From the strength of their religious beliefs stemmed these radical ideas, which deeply affected lives in the 17th century. Though these ideas were a way of life at one point in time, if these ideas were applied to our government today the
In old times, humankind has looked to utilize stories to clarify the world in which it lives. Similarly, as old man utilized stories of divine beings and creatures to clarify the world; superior person utilizes stories of exceptional legends and colossal scoundrels to do likewise (Stuller). Comic books are modern mythology, in that they are superior man 's strategy for clarifying their general surroundings through the fantastical. The characters frequently handle such major, philosophical, (Ahrens, Jörn, and Meeting) social and story ideas as the nature of sound and malevolence, man 's inward battle, the wannabe, the women 's activist, and the rescuer.
Myths and religious doctrine are generally recognized as two entirely different things. Myths are usually referred to as a fictitious story or a half-truth; often they are stories shared between groups of people that are part of a cultural society. Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, and purpose of the universe, and often containing an ethical code dictating appropriate human conduct. Although they differ in certain aspects, they still hold similarities. Comparable to parables within the Bible, myths have different versions which are both motivating, as well as entertaining. There are not only parallels to the idea of the stories but specific tales hold similar morals and equivalent characters.

From the ancient Mesopotamian civilizations to the Muslim world, antiquity has always been filled with religions of all sorts. These religions helped guide how ancient peoples lived life and came about doing even the most common tasks that people like us do today. Religion impacted the civilizations of the ancient world by greatly influencing how peoples of ancient civilizations acted, how they thought about the world around them, how civilizations were organized and maintained, and how they interacted with civilizations of another religion.
Myths organize the way we perceive and understand our reality. Myths grant stability to a culture, and in this respect; serve to explain the unexplainable. From Barbra Sproul’s perspective, creation myths reveal basic religious concerns pertaining to how the universe was formed, and how people or societies are fashioned. Myths speak of the transcendent and unknowable aspects in a drama that attempt to reveal and give reason to human existence and where man stands in the cosmos. Through myth, the dimensions of space, nature and time are expressed in symbolisms that show how the holy can be experienced or conveyed if understood properly.

I think the plot is gripping and electrifying. It has humor and touches serious themes such as a relationship in a family. And I guess that half-bloods, like Percy, have the hardest job. They live in two worlds, mortals with human and immortal. They are expected to understand how their actions may be explained by humans and immortals. That might make crazy any one. Also thanks to this book, I know the basic terms of Greek and Roman Mythology.
All through history, religion and what God someone follows has drastically affected their lifestyle by affecting their political statuses. The way someone lived was determined by what religion they followed politically, economically and socially. Most colonies official religion was Anglican/Church of England or Christianity but some did not have an official religion which created problems. The slaves that were forcefully immigrated to the colonies were not able to practice their own religion because some owner were extremely religious and other were not able to connect to their God or Gods. American history demonstrate that religion and the God someone followed had drastic effects with politics by not being able to be part of it, economy by not being able to own any land and make money for himself , and society by not being about to join any communities or organization extremely affected slaves to reach true happiness in the place they call home.

Mythos, the Greek word for myth means story, appertain to colorful tales that enlightens about the origins of humans and the universe. Myths, as amazing as it sounds, is also a cause for birth of new religions, where and how they originated. Many cultures have myths about how the gods and goddesses came to be, even elucidating the origin of humanity and its traditions. Even ideas about how this world of ours came to existence have many myths, creation myths behind it, disparate in every culture and society, which demonstrates a view on its role in the world. The psychoanalytical frames of reference on myths have indisputably been ineluctable. Myths were and still are progressively seen as expressions of desideratum in the human psyche. But the big question is, what is the beneficence of mythology towards the amelioration of society? If there are myths to decipher or exhibit certain things, character or situations, there also are science and technology, which accommodate every explanation needed to understand each of those things. Many go to science for such interpretation, which conveys the impression of taking care of the signification behind all those natural phenomena,
When people think of mythology they usually get an idea of gods’ monsters and magic. However people don’t realize how mythology is so connected to the existence of humanity and how we will grow and fall as a species. It’s not the easiest concept for us as a species to wrap our heads around but these stories in mythology almost tells us how our future might end up. David Leeming has a definition for mythology that states, humans are always on a quest for fulfillment in the face of entropy. Entropy is the idea that we are always moving toward chaos and disorder. Based on what I’ve seen and read in mythology it almost seems like these stories and ideas but me more relevant than we actually believe.
