The Cahokia Mounds is the largest mountain in north america. The Cahokia mountain have very good resources. That provided good water for the human and animal that live their. It had different types of habitats that allow humans to live their over time. The human migrated about 12,000 years ago in that area. This humans that live their over time start to growing crops like sunflowers, corn, and other plants. The human hunted fish and other wild animals for food. Their biggest success for the Cahokia people was agriculture, because they could grow enough food for their people. That is why the Cahokia mounds became more populated overtime. The Cahokia people could trapped the crops with other tribes for tools, clothes, food, and other things that
Liveability is the sum of factors that work together to form the general quality of life experienced by a region’s residents and others. Holly Smith, the author of Australia’s Brisbane and Queensland, said that, “Brisbane is a perfectly modern city today, with glittering high rise buildings and an abundance of green parks, a surrounding of hilly suburbs and a wealth of adventure opportunities.” The goal of this presentation is to examine these factors through the research into the liveability of Brisbane suburbs Camp Hill And Everton Park. Within in each element, two to three measures were selected and investigated, which helped form the overall picture of the suburb’s
Prior to urban renewal, Pyrmont-Ultimo had residents with similar incomes. However to achieve the goal of social equity plans were made for a mixed, high-density, medium-rise residential area. Approximately 7500 new dwellings have been constructed plus the renovation of 1400 existing dwellings. The aim was to cater for all household types such as families, couples and singles, provide affordable housing for middle to low income earners, provide residential dwellings with waterfront access and with water and city views, protect existing housing, retain a socially diverse residential population which includes all income groups, provide opportunities to live close to places of work and to create a high quality urban environment. The provision of affordable or public housing was an important aspect to consider in the process. Without some sort of intervention to provide this affordable housing, the attractiveness of living close to Sydney’s CBD would only be reserved for high income earners as dwellings would be too expensive and rent would be too high. From a social equity point of view it was therefore vital to provide

Starting in AD 800 and hitting its peak from 1050- 1200 AD, Cahokia covered six square miles with a population between 10,000 and 20,000 people (Jarus 1). During their 500 years, the Cahokians developed America’s first city and arguably the greatest civilization of its time, and then seemingly disappeared without a trace. But, despite Cahokia’s disappearance, a significant amount of history was left behind through earthen mounds, evolved social structures, advanced cultural practices, and Cahokia’s unexplained demise.
One of the geographical characteristics of cities is the proportion of low-lying areas that exists. Studies have been carried out to examine residential segregation. The theory that was being studied was whether
At what point are you justified to shoot an unidentified person on your property? That’s one of the questions officials have to ask themselves after William J. Evans IV, 23, was shot after breaking in to a woman’s home.
It has been 60 years since we have last record the events in the Nacirema culture and now researches today are baffled by the culture of the young Nacirema children. For example these young are spending day and night with their noses in these light boxes. Day after day, night after night these children love to stare at these hand size light boxes. We don’t exactly know what’s so entertaining about the light or the box, but we see them laugh, smile, cry, and get angry while looking into the light boxes. The older generation of the Nacirema indicates a great display of disapproval of them, but hypocritically many of them spend almost just as much time viewing into the light boxes as well.
The goal of this project was to gather baseline information on effective, low-level treatments to reduce Cakile maritima cover in nesting shorebird habitat. Two levels of effort were tested and compared to a control plot where no treatment occurred. A control plot received no treatment, the level 1 plot received monthly treatment and the level 2 plot received bimonthly treatment. Frequency of herbicide application, rather than amount of herbicide, was manipulated in this study. Each plot measured 20 m x 75 m with the length of the plot running perpendicular to the ocean to capture the variability from the fordunes

Joan Chittister’s The Gift of Years, Growing Older Gracefully in the chapter titled Legacy, starts off by saying a quote from Roman Stoic Philosopher Seneca the Younger “nothing is more dishonorable than the old man, heavy with years, who has no other evidence of having lived long, other than years” what the author is try to convey here is that every life should serve a purpose and should leave a mark on if not history then within the generations within his or hers families. One of the sorrowful things that could every happen in humanity is the death of an unknown person, because that unknown death has a story left behind with no one to tell it. Many societies, especially American, feel that a legacy is what can be physically left behind in the form of money, property, and in a lot of cases status. I can honestly relate to this, because I am guilty of this same mind set. I come from a background of very little.
The convenience of living in an urban or suburban neighborhood can be appealing to many people. Choosing between areas can sometimes be overwhelming for some individual. People are not only concerned about the safety of a community, but they are also concerned about the environment. Although some neighborhoods might look attractive, people should consider the expense that comes with it, and how commuting will affect them in the long run. Nevertheless, both neighborhoods have their specific advantages and disadvantages. When choosing between an urban or suburban neighborhood, it is important for people to research the community, the expense, and convenience
