Nixon was assigned to his first naval station located in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was later transferred to the South Pacific where he served as an aviation ground officer. Nixon learned many things while serving in the Navy one of them being how to play poker. He taught his self how to play poker because it was a source for a greater income. Although Nixon was raised as a Quaker he had little shame of gambling. It was easier for Nixon to win because he played much more conservative than the others.
